There are more exclusives on the ps3 and most of those are good so its your choice but i say ps3

360 is clearly the best choice, it has some of the best games in recent history (Halo anyone?), And for COD fans everyone knows 360 gets all the new map packs first.

Ok, firstly I'm not a fanboy, as I have BOTH, an Xbox360 and a PS3.

I have the Xbox first and loved it. Great graphics (really sharp, in some cases a bit sharper than PS3). Had loads of fun on it. But it RROD'd (broke) on me 3 times in 2-3 years. Having to send it away for 3 weeks at a time became no fun. It even crashed a few days before the launch of Street Fighter 4 (I had the game posted to me the next day and couldn't play it for 3 weeks whilst Microflops 'fixed' my Xbox.

I got tired and decided never to buy an Xbox game again.

I bought a PS3 slim when Unchartered 2 came out, and was blown away. Not just by the gameplay, but also the FREE and easy online options the PS3 gives. I had never played onlone wiith hte Box because I needed an Xbox antenna, and then a membership fee etc.

The PS3 has been my main console for the past 2 years and I Fu**ing love it. Great exclusives, great features too.

I say get a PS3 mate. But if you get an Xbox360 make sure its a new one. The oldies were sold broken.

Honestly... look at the exclusives and make your choice from that.
Before late last year though the 360-versions of the multiplatform-stuff really just worked better though since... well since programming for Sony's consoles have always been ***** and a half. According to almost all the developers to work on the platforms.

Or get a Ps2. Way cheaper and one of the biggest back-catalogues of great games ever.
Well, and more shovel-ware than the Wii since that comes with a huge game-library.

If it's backwards compatibility you want; the 360 does a good job.

For modern exclusives; PS3 is now your choice.

Also I don't think PS3 ever had a 50% or + failure rate.
Luckily, neither has the 360.

To the OP:

Almost every multiplatform game is better on the 360. The exclusives are decent. Xbox Live is better than PSN.

PS3 does have better exclusives generally.

An interesting choice.... close, but i'd go with the 360.

don't get me wrong i love the ps3 and everything but both consoles are going to be replaced by newer ones sometime soon, and 360 has a wider variety of games to play plus it has its indie/arcade games ect.

i own both, 360 is far better if you like playing with people online.
i second this. i barely touch my ps3. if a game is available on both platforms i'll always go for the 360 version.
ps3 online service is free but xbox live is much better and i mean it doesn't cost that much. the 360 is a much more social console, i find myself in a party with lots of friends even when i'm playing a solo campaign. just the fact that the 360 comes with a headset and the ps3 doesn't tells you enough.

plus i absolutely love the arcade games the 360 has to offer, there are such great games in there, retro stuff as well. and if you want to go really retro, check out the game room http://www.next-gen.biz/features/preview-xbox-360-game-room

For the original 360 I've heard 35% to 55% failure. That's the ORIGINAL original one though. Jasper-based 360's are wayyyy better than the past versions.

I have a 360, never red ringed, never had any issues with it, and it serves every purpose i need it to. it plays games and movies reliably, which is all i need anyway. plus i happen to like the controller more than the ps3 one for some reason. it also depends on what series you enjoy, cause the 360 and ps3 are pretty much even right now in terms of exclusivity. and the graphics argument is kinda bogus, ps3 games can look the same or worse than 360 games, and vice versa. get what jumps out at you.

also, to be safe, if you decide to get a used 360, make sure it has an hdmi port, they werent added till the 2nd generation or so, after a few of the kinks were worked out. it'l also let you use hdmi if you want too.

btw, i owned the first gen 360, it died on me after 3/4 years (how long has it been?) but i do suspect that wasn't entirely hardware malfunction (someone babysat my house and might have cooked it by stacking game cases on top of it). after 2 years of not using my ps3 i finally had a reason to boot it up when heavy rain came out, but then the blu-ray player/laser broke.

i was lucky my 360 passed after i finished mass effect 2 because i only had to wait 2 weeks for the 360 slim to be released (if i hadn't finished it i would have bought any 360 available asap) which works like a charm and runs so much more quiet :)

It really matters what kind of gamer you are. If you like mulitplayer more, get a 360. If you like single player, get a PS3.

Bah. You should buy an Amiga (and read my Speedball 2 review [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.270229-One-hit-wonder-Speedball-2-Brutal-Deluxe-for-Amiga-OCS] :p
As long as it plays the new Battletoads
Yeah, you heard about that too? I hope they do make an Amiga port.

playstation has free online, BUT IT SUCKS! PSN is no where near as good as LIVE.

we pay for LIVE because we want good support and something that doesn't lag.

360 has better games (exclusives and normal)

360 doesn't crash anymore.

PS3 is a rip off, all your getting is a blu-ray player really!

so get a 360 or else your just wasting your money

I can see the choice in your title didn't take long, lol.

i would recommend the ps3.i hear it´s not as noisy as the 360,it has free online with a good community,it comes with a blu-ray player and i´ve been told the fail-rate is lower.

Also...it has some great exclusives like Heavy Rain, God of War 3 and the Collection, Infamous, Uncharted 1 and 2, Gran Turismo 5, Little Big Planet 1 and 2 and all the awesome ps2 HD remakes. I could go on and on. You can also find games that are no longer 360 exclusives like Mass Effect 2 on the ps3. Xbox 360 is also a good console, but i´d pick the ps3 for these reasons.
