Okay escapists, I've finally tired of just owning a Wii. I've just started my medical career which will have me on call at least 7 days out of the month and Imma need some serious quality video games to fill my time with. I am hoping for backwards compatibility. I could care less about most of the Metal Gear games and, Zelda aside, I hate RPGs.
So I was thinking I'd either get a used system or a new one with a decent hard drive. I know that ever since Sony made the PS3 affordable they also snatched away backwards compatibility, so I'm leaning towards a used PS3 or else a 360, buuuttt...
What about the failure rate of the early models? It's not like I can warranty a used console, and both systems had a greater-than-50% failure rate for nearly a year.
So, what do you think?
I love the Splinter Cell games and anything with stealth, FPSs, retro games, I loved the Sands of Time games and I love games with 4-player split-screen support.
Thanks in advance.
Even though I think you're just trolling and seting flame-bait... I'll answer kindly.
It depends on your situation and what games you like. Game to game, I've found PS3 has better exclusives. For example, the two big exclusives for the 360 are Halo and Gears of War... but they have very similar themes. In fact, much of the 360's supposed exclusives are like that: one game takes an idea, and then several other games spin the idea with their unique twist; still, the base idea of the game remains the same, leaving everything to feel generic. I also DO NOT INCLUDE GAMES FOR PC AND XBOX AS EXCLUSIVES TO THE 360!! Mass Effect is a great example of this.
The PS3 on the other hand offers you free internet, and the games are pretty much all different. Uncharted and Heavy Rain offer experiences you literally can't get elsewhere; experiences no one has copied yet. Mod Nation Racers is a kart racing game that punches Mario Kart in the mouth with a hookers vagina. Resistance: Fall of Man offers totally original take on the "space marine versus aliens" idea. the Playstation Move is simply better than the kinect and the Wii... like I don't have to explain, it just IS! (have you EVER heard someone tell you they'd prefer to use the motion controllers over the regular controllers for either console/peripheral? didn't think so).
The wii... I just think that sucks, unless you want to have a lot of fun playing parties. Nintendo has totally lost me as a costumer.
My verdict? PS3, no contest.
and to back up what I'm saying, I have all three consoles and a gaming PC. I basically ONLY use my PC and my PS3. PC because everything I could get on the 360 that I'm interested in I can get on my PC, and the PS3 because it has a ton of original content that is incomparable with other games from other systems....... and once you fork over the money, they're both cheap (not $60 per year subscription fee for me! and you can bet the moment Sony requires one is the moment I stop playing online).
So yea... some people could DISAGREE with me... but it's really not that I'm a fanboy... I just haven't enjoyed my 360 at all. In fact, probably my most disappointing purchase ever was getting one.
