Yes. The concept was a great idea. The development just wasn't good enough. Give them a second try and it could surely be, as to quote Yahtzee: "a diamond-farting wonder".

Should a sequel or maybe even a prequel be made to Mirrors Edge? I think that they should, only if they make it longer and put in a free-roam mode where you could go anywhere in the city. Whats your opinion?
If they Followed those 2 things then yes

although i think it would sell better as a downloadable game

Sure it should be made. It is a business decision. If you don't like the previous game, don't buy the new one to kill the franchise. There is no reason why anything shouldn't be made as long as there are people willing to buy and play it.

Plus Mirrors edge gameplay needs a couple tweaks, and it is quite fun.

I think if they're going to make anything that even resembles a sequel they should completely scrap the whole thing, plot, characters, world and start again with a completely clean slate. Give everything a complete rethink, better story, better controls everything. If they WOULD is a different issue altogether.

Yeah. The game was fun it needs to be harder. Making it open world to would make it a million times better. Maybe even multi-player.

I thought it was a great game. If you paid attention in the cutscenes, you would have found out that the government just slowly kept getting more and more corrupt, until they found themselves in a 1984-esque world. Sure it could be a little more fleshed-out, but it's also in a minimalist style...it's certainly explained better than Gears of War or something. You don't need a prequel to explain backstory...continuing the story as is might explain a lot more.

The only thing I require is to put more of a focus on momentum. There's an awful lot of stopping and cramped spaces for a free-running game.

More Mirrors Edge is a crime that deserves punishment by death.

At least, not without more Star Control or shadow of the collosus.

How does one perfect the genre of Mirrors Edge?

To me it seems like one of those games that just doesn't work.

yea, i really enjoyed the first one, despite the common gamers view on it, it was really fun and the controls were smooth (my first game for the Xbox 360, so thats gotta mean something) so yes, sequels should be made.

i'm still playing through mirror's edge as i only bought it last week (i know i'm behind) and so far i think it's pretty good, haven't really had so much trouble with the controls and platforming aspect aside from having to do half the sections 3 times. i think there's a lot more they could do with the concept if a sequel was made but only time will tell if it can actually go anywhere from here.

They should, however, the story needs more depth. Other than that, the first one was great IMO.
Also, a free roaming mode would be awesome.

Was it a perfect game? No.

Did it have deep flaws that, for many, ruined the experience? Yes.

Should it be developed and improved upon? Absolutely.

There are as many things to like about ME as there are to dislike. I'm shocked however, to see so many categorical 'no's on this thread. The experience, when it works, is fantastic, even breathtaking - the concept itself is great. If the developers can learn from their mistakes and go at it again - using the time they spent before on prototyping and testing to, instead, create a better and longer experience, they could come up with seriously great games for the franchise.

I think they should. The gameplay was great, the story served to hold the different levels together (in other words, it did just what was expected of it), and it had a lot of longevity if you got into the speed runs.
