Should Mirrors Edge 2 be made?

If they just get rid of the story completely, then it might be okay. I was actually kind of enjoying the game until I watched half of a cut-scene. Ugh, this game has such a dumb plot:

For some unexplained reason the government is totally evil, man! And there are a bunch of people who run around delivering messages. And the government apparently has really incompetent cops, so they have to make and elite force of counter-runner runners, who wear hockey pads and stuff so they can fight back against this runner menace!

If Mirrors Edge 2 is basically just the time challenge mode from the first game, except with more levels, then it will probably be really fun.

I would like to see a similar game, but set in a city more like ours.
That whole white, and some blue, red and yellow stuff here and there was kind of getting boring.
I didn't like it at all, but a game set in a city similar to the likes that we actually live in, plus more interactions with other humans ie. running through a crowded cinema or something, would be a good idea.

I would play it. Mirrors edge was pretty fun. Just because it was a whole new type of gameplay that I never seen before.

Yes, i liked it and liked the city setting, not just floating blocks
In that case, your probably not gonna like the DLC.

I'd like to see a Mirror's Edge 2. All it really needs is more moves.

edit:...and a half-decent story.

The government is evil because they try to control the citizens by monitoring them all the time. The bunch of people that run around try to deliver messages to those that wanna learn about their family/ friends etc. They already give that away in the trailers...

And, as far as I know, they already stated that they are working on another game. ME will be a trilogy apparently. I'm glad, to be honest.

Obviously, the government is evil because they keep everything clean, safe, and don't like runners delivering contraband goods.

On topic: I didn't think much of Mirror's Edge. For all its visual wizardry, it wasn't a very deep game. It was highly repetitive, with minimal AI and a run of the mill "dystopian future" story.

The government isn't evil, they never said evil, the government is taking away freedom in the name of safety, nothing is private they monitor everything, messages that the runners deliver are the only things that aren't monitored, on one of the elevator rides it says that an unofficial poll revealed that half the city have used them to deliver something atleast once, so even normal ppl just wanting to send a private message use runners

I don't get the highly repetitive thing, saying mirror's edge is repetitive is like saying every shooter every made is repetitive because you just shoot things, and the world they created was way better then the main story, but you had to really read a lot into it, I really don't get where this repetitive thing is coming from

I would love another mirrors edge game I had already borrowed and completed mirrors edge on my PS3 before getting the PC version (the best IMO)
Storywise I don't think a sequel is that important when they could simply tell another story and gamewise they should cut out the required hand to hand and gunplay I feel this was kept in due to a lack of bravery on the developers part to make something completly new.

More levels should be street based and runner cops should be more prevailant because they work with the spirit of the game by keeping you moving rather than the cops which are a bit like tarpits.
I think free roam is a bad idea much rather they keep the PoP sands of time trilogy method also a few new moves would be nice.

*edit
The most important thing to keep is the visual style it's just impossible to look at a mirrors edge screenshot and mistake it for any other game also make some more use of physx

Yes please!

They should definitely keep the aesthetic fairly similar to that of the original. Sure some may complain that it was a bit clinical, but given the setting of the game it makes sense and is of course a welcome change from depressing grays and browns, if you'll forgive the slip into cliche there.

There could easily be a sequel, given the ending and the setting is something that could definitely do with some development. There is of course the issue of the Mayor still being around, plus do we ever really find out

What happened to Cel after your fight on the ship? She just seemed to walk away.

That I don't seem to recall being eexplained and it's something I'd like to find out, even if it was a "plot twist" that was perhaps a little too obvious to really catch you off guard.

Anybody saying anything bad about the controls in Mirrors Edge should try it on PC before formulating the opinion that it has bad controls.

Console FPS, as a whole, have bad controls and are especially clumsy in movement. When a game is based around movement you can't really get good controls with a flawed control system.

Now, take that same thing and move it to a place where the controls are actually good? It's very good. Very, very good.

O
Or there's, you know, the whole "surveillance, murdering political rivals, police state" stuff.

I loved the game so I definitely think they should make another one. A sequel with more refined controls and non-linear maps would be absolutely fantastic.

I think I read somewhere they planned to make it a trilogy.
Anyway, I'd quite like a second Mirror's Edge.
I thought the gamplay and all that was good, it was just way too short.
Just don't put in any more speedruns, I really suck at those...

Of course. It was a fun game and deserves it. They just need a story mode that actually justifies $60. The first was just too short, but everything else was great.

Yes. The first game was easily one of my favorites from last year.

How about coming up with the story beforehand this time, rather than tacking it onto the final product, and just making the combat a whole lot less frustrating. There we go: Mirror's Edge 2 in a hypothetical nutshell.

I disagree with people who said ME was a flawed idea. The idea was great, it was just executed poorly. The controls worked great and the concept was appealing. They just need a redesign, less linear gameplay and some way to keep the game flowing.

The government is evil because they monitor everything you do, you deliver messages between rebel groups. The government murders a potential mayor candidate because he wants to give people back their personal freedoms. Pay attention to the plot and you might learn something.

Yes, Mirrors Edge was at least unique.

I liked mirrors edge, a sequel would be good, or just something that builds on the engine, different story, different city, fix the bugs and issues and add something to keep it fresh.
