I think people that play violent video games ares less likely to shoot people..

Yea, you heard.

My reason for saying this is they take out there frustrations in the game.
Doesn't get more true than that.

The reason people blame video games is that it's the scapegoat. They think that if the can blame murders, kidnappings, theft, etc. on games, games will be banned and they then think that their kids will come out and play. But I got two words if your kid is a shut-in who doesn't get enough air. Bad parenting. And I got two words if your kid starts to shoot people cause of a video game. Bad parenting.

They tried to do the same thing to jazz, pinball, comic books, and D & D. That's just of the top of my head. All the controversy will dies off once the younger generation grows up on video games.

Speaking of which. Assuming we don't escape the trap, what do you think we will rally against when get older?
I personally, will go after A) the rap music those kiddie listen to or B) Vagina's ( don't trust those things)
And I ask you why wouldn't I trust them
Two words: vagina dentata.
Wasn't that in a movie also? Don't remember the name of it. It got a Scream award this year, if I remember correctly. Anyway, yes, that is scary.

I'm just waiting for the day when people stop using various media as scapegoats, and start blaming the actual person who did the damn thing. It's taking the responsibility off of the person who commited the act, and instead of them facing the consequences, we all have to suffer instead. No wonder our legal system is a load of crap.

Ranting aside, I guess now we know how the smokers feel...

PS: Does this mean Yahtzee is going to be out of a job?

The media and politicians always need a whipping boy of some kind, whether it be video games, music, or emos.
"Any pile of stunted growth unaware that entertainment is just that and nothing more, deserves to doom themselves to some dank cell, somewhere, for having been so stupid. Movies, books, t.v., music-They're all just entertainment, not guidelines for damning yourself"-Jhonen Vasquez "JTHM:Director's Cut"

Australia is just alot more strict with gaming content, not as much violence as other things. Fallout 3 was banned for it's drug use, not it's violence, but was then given the all clear.

Doubt it, it would mean that he might not be able to review games that get banned, and there are not many that do.

I doubt that there is a plausible chance of games getting the boot, it is a media and a hobby for many. It will become more accepted until people stop playing video games and start taking games to real life in post-space fight clubs.

Luckily, I live in America where I doubt anything will happen because we don't let anyone take our guns or games involving guns

I think 'Rule of Rose' was banned in some states over here a while back, but that's all I can think of of the top of my head.

But the interesting thing about our 'love of freedom of speech' is that it's all ducky until parents get wind of something controversial that might hurt their ickle-widdle-preciouses because they're too busy to be bothered with actually parenting their kids. Then it's 'RALLY THE FORCES! BURN IT! WE MUST BAN IT!' And it's this mentality that is going to make Fahrenheit 451 come true. That book terrified me, because it looked exactly like 100 years from now probably will.

No, they only ban games in places like India and Germany, and I gather Australia as well.
I think either Korea or China banned playing MMOs for over 3 hours as well.

No one? Really? Alright then...
Why...so...SERIOUS?!
to be honest, i was kinda disappointed it didn't happen sooner as well.

i see alot of people blaming parenting and i agree that good parenting should prevent kids from getting ahold of properly labeled material. but the most common gaming material out there is not being properly labeled and it is undermining the rating system IMO.

as far as comic books...my stores get the unedited version of wizard magazine and places it right underneath a magazine about disney shows :( so that isn't much better.
