You'll probably know. Where the hell does this sit?

I used to drive a 1990 VW Polo, with (amongst other things) couple of well-driven 12"s in the boot. This was one of the most frightening things I ever ran through it.

A few interior trim panels unscrewed themselves at about the 2-minute mark!!
Oh man! I actually had no idea Ham and Robbie Long did a collab!

It's a pretty hard to classify track. It sounds like Hardcore from '92, except it was released in 2005 lol.
I'd probably call it a merge between Hardcore and Hard Techno - and I mean Techno as the actual genre, not the catch all some people use when talking about electronic music lol.

So yeah, basically it's taking a lot of elements and 2000 era synths from the hard techno school of thoughts, but it's to an oldschool hardcore breakbeat. It's a very interesting track!

It's funny, I've heard the A side of that record "Lets Begin", but I don't own that vinyl so I've never listened to the B side! It's certainly something! Thanks for sharing :D

I heard that track on a free CD from Mixmag. I never could figure it out!

Still got it, ripped into individual tracks (which could probably be pieced back together into one track). It was a free CD, so I don't think sharing would be an issue.

Can your e-mail handle 145mb?!!

To be honest, I never really got into hardcore. When I was working in the kitchen at Pizza Hut, back in late '95, we had our own stereo, and a box of dreamscape and helter skelter tapes (most of them!). Luckily, most people in the kitchen were jungle/drum & bass fans, so we always missed the hardcore tapes. The Burial by Leviticus, and the helicopter tune, were a couple of kitchen favourites.

We used to turn it up so loud that it drowned out the music in the restaurant. Not a problem though, as we were part of a complex with two nightclubs next door, so most customers were clubbers anyway!

I only have a gmail x_x so I'm not really sure if it likes big attachments or not lol.
If you want to try, just fling me up a PM and I'll give you my email and we can see if it works!

edit: Also, jungle around the mid 90's was totally awesome!
I still have a special place in my heart for Micky Finn! He was basically the artist that got me into jungle/DnB and opened the whole gateway to electronic music for me.

I mean it's not like he personally did it, but someone showed me a song of his and I loved it! Then I got his jungle warefare CDs and man it was awesome!

I just searched for 'The Burial' on YouTube. Top related video, 'Deep Blue - The Helicopter Tune'.

And here was me, thinking I was a special snowflake. Turns out there are lots of people with the same fond memories!

Well... Time to go a bit alternative-ish... Starting with:

What about some "classic video game"-esque hip-hop electronica?

How about a trippy music video to go with your electornic pallet?

But, hey! What about that "DnB song" Jim used for his 2013 GOTY videos?

Damn... I'm so close to just start linking Adult Swim bumps, because a lot of the songs they use on those bumps are usually either electronic, hip-hop, jazz, or a combination of any of those genres in some alternative manner... So, to close it off, here's the extended version of the song I've been listening to before Saints Row 4 was even a game that was coming out:

Do this:
i.e. remove everything in the link except "youtube" and "=serial number" and then put in square brackets.

Also: Nice, some really good old synth sounds in there. Moogs, 303's and 808's ahoy!

I don't know what to call the 70s era of Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze etc - epic long songs, expansive and astral feel and themes with a lot of ambience. Anyway it's my favorite type of electronica
Krautrock? Also you did the embedding thing wrong, it's for future reference. Eletronic music isn't exactly my forte but I tend to be geared towards the more Downtempo/Trip-Hop/Ambient stuff:

Ulver - Lost in Moments [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjjfgOdkHNc]
Bjork - Joga [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufRQiKKI3Fg]
Moby - Porcelain [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyCP05ABbJE]
Tycho - Daydream [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFr9StkVwTk]
Unkle - Bloodstain [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAcU5AHS1E8]
Beherit - Deep Night 23rd [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qKGgFLv8hk]
Massive Attack - Angel [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqEQxZizzNQ]

Good god, a genre of electronic music? As in, from within all of electronic music?

That leaves a lot of choices. And I do mean a LOT.

So, uh....yeah I've no idea where to even begin. Not an inkling. XD

Maybe I should just post a collection of random songs I enjoy across numerous electronic genres and leave it to the reader to decipher which goes where...

I may post again with more songs, ranging from widely known to obscure, but for now I'm gonna leave it at this.

I'll be sure to be more forthright with my genre listings as well.

I am liking an incredible amount of music in this thread, but I am sad that Haywyre hasn't been posted yet so here goes.
His style is like smooth, downtempo dubstep. ... kinda.
I am trusting your instructions Zykon... Oh hey the preview shows it embedded properly! Hooray! I am internetting.

Nah it's not really rock at all, Krautrock is Kraftwerk and stuff. Probably new age electronic is the best term for it.

I love electro swing!!! I forgot to mention it in my stupidly long list of genres I like.
Do you like Caravan Palace? They're probably one of my favourite elctro swing/gypsy jazz groups! I missed them playing in Toronto this summer and 100% regret it x_x.

I honestly never thought I'd fall in love with how an oboe could sound, but I'll be damned if they didn't change my mind.

Well yeah, the 'rock' part doesn't sound appropriate but you hear that term a lot in relation to bands like Faust, Neu!, Can, Popol Vuh etc. Music genre terms/labels are pretty weird to me in general seeing as most just seem to be pulled out of the arse of some journalist, then it just sinks in deep enough into the public consciousness that nobody bothers to question it.

I had not, they sound pretty groovy though! Tbh, I'm real picky with my music, and though I like the songs I posted, only Parov Stelar has ever consistently scratched my electro swing itch. Must say though, these guys look promising!

Wouldn't mind having a listen to one of your mixes as well, if you're cool with that - I'm always on the lookout for decent tunes to annoy the rest of the gym with :p
