These videos really put everything into perspective, don't they? We're not even a blip in our own galaxy, which is one of billions of galaxies in the known universe.

Amazing stuff.

13.7 billion light years to find the end of our known universe. Can't help but imagine the sort of wonders out there that we will never live to see.

edit: But then again, we have wonders like this http://www.wimp.com/antcolony/ that exist on our own planet.

And to think there are those who say life only exists on Earth. How the hell should we know? We practically know NOTHING about what's out there.

Yeah, and that's just the ONE "known universe". There are some pretty well founded, scientific theories that suggest that it's not even sure there's only one single universe but several.

And here on earth we still think it's important to try and stop ABORTIONS from happening and killing eachother over large areas of dirt and black stuff consisting of dead plants, dinosaurs and plankton.

Oh and also fucking with peoples lives over the very important subject of who's favourite imaginary friend in the sky is "the best one".

When it all comes down to it, we all act like the stupid monkeys that we are... In fact, the only thing better with the other monkeys is that they don't suffer from pretentions of grandeur like we do.

Yup. And to think that there's actually people who think that the prospect of eternal life would be "boring" and "uninteresting" and they mainly concern themselves over the fact that they would have to "watch all their friends die" if they were immortal... I mean COME ON! :S

Yeah I know I had this girl in class say she thought whatever is on earth are the only things that exist in this universe I was like D:

YES! finally someone who understands that if the big bang happened, than our universe is a simple ball of stuff in space (which is nothing) and possibly many other universes (we couldn't be the only big bang) all appearing in other areas, creating the "Omniverse" made up of all universes with their own possible gravitational pull if they are close (but the odds are very slim) and the small possibility that another big bang could happen and actually cause another universe to hit ours resulting in Cthulhu knows what.
wow my brain really hurts.

that kinda makes sense seeing as if our universe came from the same "big bang" we would have all the same building blocks as other galaxies I.E. Elements but they would just be assembled differently. so I figure the whole universe is made of the same stuff.

It may be lonely and depressing watching everyone you knew, hell, eventually everything you knew, cities countries, maybe entire solar systems, fall apart, but to be able to live to see the universe, I would gladly give up everything to see it all myself.

Beautiful clip. For some strange reason I suddenly think of myself when I was a little kid and din't know of the existence of other planets. I sometimes looked up into the sky and got dizzy in my head because I could not grasp the concept of that whole 'nothingness' up above.

So wait....
It takes about 13.7 billion years for the light from the Earth to reach the edge of the known universe?
So creatures that potentially live there and have insane telescopes wouldn't be able to see our planet because it's light hasn't reached them yet?
Meaning we're invisible?
Mind blown and broken.

Does more space mean more chance of the existence of aliens? Or dragons? Or Cthulhu?
