Except Playstation users don't pay for the online service, whilst Xbox user do. If Live goes down then Xbox users are actually losing something.

Part marks. Xbox Live GOLD is paid for. Xbox Live in general is free for anyone. Gold is comparable PSN Plus. Actually, I lose MORE if PSN goes down then if Xbox does. With xbox I can't validate some DLC I have for games that have more anal-retentive developers. Meanwhile with the PSN? This is the third day so far I've been unable to try Little Big Planet community maps. I won't have much time tomorrow either. This is so... stupid...

Around $736 Just for a 360 and constant connection for 6 years (then you have to add on to that price games and peripherals), is worth it? If you say so.

It sucks but no, I don't think that customers should get some sort of compensation. Things like this happen and people should learn to deal with that.
I was looking forward to playing Portal 2 co-op with a friend who owns the ps3 version but now I have to wait until they fix this. I don't like it but I think demanding compensation for that is stupid.

When the service is free, absolutely not. If the premium service went offline though, all premium members should be given bonus subscription days greater than or equal to how long the outage was.

For a few days? No. My sense of entitlement is normal, not overblown. It would be nice if my psn was working but I'll probably get over it. Life goes on.
