I'm fine without getting some trophies while I progress in FFXIII for a few days, I'll just be glad when they fix it.

No they are not going to reward you for having there system fail for a few days. Go to bed and be sure to spell check before posting messages.
Glass houses and all that jazz

Since I pay for PS+, I would like a few days credited to my account, but I don't really care if it doesn't happen
Mine was a grammar error and I have the excuse of a minor learning disability. In addition, PS+ is different from just plain PSN since you have to pay for PS+ and not PSN.

Oh god, a few days without a FREE online service. You can't play Black Ops online for a few days. Get over it, their are plenty of excellent single player games to play.

Something like this would be nice (LOLJK I DON'T OWN A PS3) but not necessary..!
Don't think so?

But that'd be totally different anyway. LIVE: Paid for

PSN: Free.
It did happen I have the game given at the time, but your right it's still a paid service xbl users where given something to make up for it. But PSN is a free service, if anything only PSN+ should get something.

Plus subscribers should probably get a pro-rated refund, other than that, it's just an unfortunate thing to happen for the rest of the PSN users.

I'm a member of PSN+ (which I love BTW) and if they compensate us for these few days, great, if not, that's fine too. I'm not really all that worried about it. I've already gotten my monies worth from the service and all this has done has let me play some of 360 games I've been meaning to play (Outrun Online is awesome as fuck).

I would say no.. because if the whole geohotz thing illustrated anything its that while you might own the hardware, Sony is the only owner of the software, specifically PSN. So Should sony be rewarding for failing? No. Will they? If the way that most large scale corporations exist is any indication, they yes, they will be rewarded handsomely for the PR campaign to make it appear as if ANON is bringing them down, when they are intentionally doing it themselves.

I hate to say it, but I am really starting to dislike Sony. Which is sad really because I have owned 3 consoles, multiple incarnations of the walkman, Home stereos, home speakers, Car CD player SE phones and have always sort of touted them as an organization. However the way they have been for the last 5-10 years has gotten progressively worse with the last 2 years being blatantly so.

As for the notion should the players be rewarded for an outage? Sure, why not. Grant players an inconsequential amount of credit towards PSN store. I mean its not like they are loosing anything directly by doing so, Its like selling air.

Well honestly, I think it should depend if you have a PS+ membership or not. If you don't, you don't get compensated for the 3 days, because obviously, you're not paying for the service (like myself, though considering getting PS+ eventually).

If you DO have PS+, I think you should get an extra free PSN game that's published by Sony.

It's only fair
Well, that's stupid... if you paid for your ps3 you have paid for the psn service and Sony are expected to keep it working. No matter whether you have ps+ or not you have still paid for the online service.

No...well, PLUS member should probably get 3 or 4 days added onto there 'subscription'. A full explenation on what happened and what they did would be nice, but nothing else.
Although a free video rental would be nice :D

It's easy to think that, and I understand the point of view. However, Sony doesn't force you to make a PSN account, therefore it's unknown whether some people are using the services provided. You believe that my cousin, who doesn't use PSN or even have a PSN account should be compensated for something he doesn't use? I don't believe he should, why spend money on someone who doesn't even know what you gave him?

Business wise, you would be spending untold millions compensating 100% of the PSN user base, whether they use the services or not. Or you could save roughly 80-90% of those costs by only catering to the loyal customers that volunteer to pay for the same services but with some minor bonuses. Sit back and think about it, you'd make that decision too..

But, this is all unlikely. As much as I love Sony products, I/WE all know too well that it's unlikely that we're getting anything out of this. Sony will give us nothing in return but a explaination for the outage, leave it at that, and continue on like nothing has happened. And if someone starts shit up about it, they probably have their asses covered in those Terms & Agreements that most of us agree to blindly.

Not saying it's right. But it's business.

Well, I didn't really say that I think that everyone should be compensated. But still, I have paid for a service that I didn't get access to, so I have the right to be pissed (even though I almost never use PSN)! xD

its 12:08 AM Sunday im very tired but i had a idea for a thread bare with me.

Due to the PSN being down for 3 days or less.

i was thinking Should we be given something as compensation?

and what do you think we should be given.

I would say yes depending on the compensation. I would like a Persona 3 and 4 for PS3 just so i can play it

Yes that did happen, but as stated the difference being as stated that Live is a paid for service. When it goes down for an extended period Live users have suffered some kind of loss which MS wanted to provide compensation for.

PSN is a free to use service, users have suffered no loss thus Sony has nothing to attempt to repay (though in fairness they could offer something to PSN+ users who have now suffered a loss)

but if 360 severs dieded out every single 360 user will flood the internet demanding compensation.
yup EVERY single user, something tells me that doesn't work somewhere.

If a F2P MMO went down, they shouldn't need to give everyone a new weapon.
no they should not, your point is?
My point is if you pay for somthing monthly and it dies out for unknown reasons for an unexspected amount of time wouldnt you want compensation for it?
no, I have a sub to an SOE (sony) mmo and when that was down for a week we didn't get anything nor did I want anything (apart from answers).

I have enough sense to know things happen
thats an mmo, mmos go down all the time for alot of reasons, but if an mmo went down what do you do? Play another game. But when a sever goes down like psn or xbl you cant just say well ima play a different online game then, you play a game for what the game provides and that entertainment, you buy the system for all the sevice it provides that includes the online part. There a difference between an mmo compiared to a gaming system.
