Signs your game has gone HORRIBLY WRONG

I was playing Ninja Gaiden II, and as I played, I became frustrated.

Not with dying (But I'm sure you assumed that). I became frustrated that the camera was being uncooperative whenever I either fight a boss, or fight in a crowded area. The camera seems intent on making sure everything in the game has gone HORRIBLY WRONG.

So, what do you think are the signs when a game goes absolutely wrong on you? Was it the controls? Or did the characters seem to have the character of cardboard boxes? And while your at it, what game did this to you?

Basically, your example. Insanely frustrating.

"NO! NO! DON'T LOOK THAT WAY! LOOK THIS WAY, DARN IT!"

Mass Effect 2. I kept finding little areas where I would glitch out. Kinda sucked, because I would have to reload the game to get out of the stuck area.

When a console game has online, but no split screen. I hate playing console games online. Hate it, hate it, hate it. I play consoles to play with my god damn friends.

When I come up to a boss fight that cripples me/my party in less than 10 turns, indicating to me I have to spend weeks grinding weaker enemies so much I end up being too godly for any enemies to touch me.

If I'm shouting obscenities at the screen, that's probably one.

EDIT: Spelling.

This one's pretty universal, but when your screen goes black like it always does for a cutscene or a level transition and takes longer than usual to come back, or flat-out doesn't come back at all, you know something's gone wrong.

Doesn't happen to me as much these days, but I recall it being pretty par for the course in the days of the PS1/2.

This is a real big one with me too. A game that supposedly has a single player campaign better be able to stand up itself, and not need multiplayer to bail it out.

Another big one. There is a reason I can get more than one controller for my damn console. Its so I can invite people over and play with THEM damnit.

Now THAT is an RPG problem. I understand the want of designers for you to work at it, but I don't want to spend all that time grinding when I should be able to advance. It should just be made a little tougher.

When you notice the newest bad guys are just recycled old baddies with new skins and more beefy spamy attacks.
When you're no longer interested in the story, characters, or anything else that happens. You just want to fight to the end to be done with it, becuase you invested to much time to just walk away.

When the game starts repeating itself over, and over, and over. At first, it's fun! Then you get bored. No More Heroes stands accused, but it was still fun. NiGHTS Journey of Dreams for Wii, however... I hate having to climb the cage, fly around, chase things, kill them, get back to the beginning, and do that 3 more times before fighting a meaningless boss (that you fight again at the END of the level), EVERY SINGLE TIME I ENTER A WORLD!!

my rage for the past 3 days has been Heart Gold, for the fact of the legendary beasts running around the land, 2 hp between them, both had a stat on them (they where froze if you must know) and i couldent catch them! but i finaly got them yesterday, so i think my rage blackouts will end.

When someone mentions the words "The Chosen One"...

That or around the 5th escort quest...

Oddly, I didn't think I would ever see this in these newer games. Then I saw Darksiders. Don't we have the creativity to make different enemies now?

When the pause button doesn't pause and you get owned while taking a shit. Damn you Demon's Souls!
I loled, but I understand. A pause button that doesn't pause is something that would really piss me off...as I'm going to the bathroom.

I'm guessing you don't want to explain anything specific?

This! News Flash Developers! Some of us don't LIKE playing online.

Also, when a boss or mini-boss hands you your ass on a silver tray in under 10 seconds.

I've been having this. But I've only got Entei down that low. Somehow it's asleep and still manages to run away from me. That and I can't find a Pokeball good enough to catch it.

Also, something that pissed me off with Guitar Hero: World Tour was this strange failing lag. I would be down in the red and be about to fail but I'd hit a note and still fail. It would say I hit the note, but still fails me anyway. That's a good sign that something is wrong.
