Silliest reason you've ever played a specific character or class?

In Borderlands 2 I played Krieg the Psycho quite a bit just for his dialogue, even though as a solo player his active skill is pretty ass most of the time mid game onwards.

Black character: "I'm black, too!"
Female character: "It's a porn-related game!"

Other than that, the one thing that got me into the Hyperdimension Neptunia series (before adding other reasons for liking the series in general) was due to the overall representation of sexy ladies personified video game consoles...

Not so much a class than what I named my character. It was some webcomic, which I don't remember. Ctrl Alt Del I think? But Fo' Shizzle was uttered in it. And I was so utterly amused by the term that when I started KOTOR, I made a black character called Fo' Shizzle.

It sure made dialogue options hilarious and made it hard to take the game seriously.

Arcanist in FFXIV because

So disappointed that they can't use them when you "upgrade" to the summoner job - although I heard they might "re-enable their summoning" soon in patch 3.4.

I then switched to witch doctors because i thought the idea of throwing snakes, spiders and midgets at demons was hilarious.
The guy who throws, as you put it, "snakes spiders and midgets" is scarier than the damn lich king!
You sir or madam absolutely just made my day.

to get back on topic, i once made a character I made on Elder Scrolls: Oblivion into a pathfinder character for a friend's campaign. Then I added that character's son to the game, and said character is one of my skyrim characters.

You too, man? Glad I'm no the only one. Though, oddly enough, I went with the Mage first, then the Elf. Her quick skill with a bow, and ability to use magic, and talents for fast kicking when unarmed called to me. (It isn't something you see often, a class that can use a bow, and magic at the same time.)

Was bored one day so pretty much paid $5 during a Steam sale on Saints Row 4 for the character creation to make a hot chic in sexy clothes. The novelty of watching her run around in a skimpy top and tight jean shorts with designer stockings wore off after a couple chapters, and the rest of the game was even more shallow than my reasoning for playing it in the first place.

Well, that's debatable but not worth keeping installed in either case lol.
I came up with a slightly different reason for why I started off playing as an Irish man, and switched to a female with a French accent later on. He got surgery done, and the surgery brought the French side of her family out. =D

Never playing D & D before or since have I ever played a cleric class. But in one game set in Forgotten Realms our GM specified that each of us had to be a cleric. We were all pretty concerned about how the game would turn out and how the balance would work.

"Four white mages... it'll never work." That's how well it went.
wait, is this a 8-bit theater reference? I cant tell if it went super well or not at all.

The Jew in South Park Stick of Truth

and honestly just to pretend it really bothers Cartman that the hero this land needs is a Jew, who sides with him against Kyle and ends up saving the world.

It was an 8-bit-theater reference as well. And both in Final Fantasy and 8-bit-theater... it winds up going super well.

Well, we were mostly worried about our ability to inflict damage without a full on fighter or mage. Also a thief can ease things for a party as well. But yes, it went pretty much exactly like you said, our GM realized early on our little band could recover from a beating very quickly. And a couple of specialty clerics and multi and dual class choices gave us plenty of options. Oh and there were 6 of us... the 4 white mage thing was just a Final Fantasy reference. Combat did take a little longer, but really it was the difference between quickly getting your head lopped off by a warrior or enduring a 6 or 7 round multi-faith priest gang mace-ing.
Depending on the game bards can be pretty OP. One was always a good addition in Black Isle's Icewind Dale.
Well, if damage is an issue, one cleric can always prestige into Malconvoker. Not having a dedicated warrior becomes a moot point when you can summon a bunch of disposable mooks on demand, which can give that dedicated warrior a run for his money in the damage department, depending on what you summon. Then add in the buff/debuff potential of 4 clerics, and anything facing you is gonna have a bad time.

And yeah, I know bard has a bit of a reputation as being one of the scrappy classes in 3.5, but I rather enjoy playing Jimi Hendrix inspired bard. They're quite versatile if used smartly. I've diplomanced my party out of quite a few sticky situations.
That particular game we were playing was 2nd edition, predating the prestige class.

Speaking of which, I thought it was kind of cool how BM explains much later (and also explains why he says that 4 white mages line right before he casts the spell the first time) how it requires and saps the love of others to fuel such destructive power. Call me cheesy I guess.

I picked Claptrap for my first character in Borderlands The Pre-sequal mostly because I'm probably one of the few people who doesn't hate him and it's fun to annoy my friends who do hate him by playing him.

I have a lot of Charr characters in my roster on Guild Wars 2 specifically because I love their surprised emote:

I played an Elin sorcerer in Tera, simply because the "Nya!" and "Bloo!" noises she would make when casting certain spells were adorable. Plus, while casting the spell Fireblast, she would hover in the air in a pose that gave her the cutest butt ever. Tracer's butt is bland by comparison.

Wellll when I ventured tentatively into the world of Star Wars: The Old Republic, I specifically chose playing as a Jedi Consular male because Nolan North was the voice selection. I guess it helps that Consulars are usually my preferred class (going by KotOR and KotOR II) and I just... like Nolan North. I knew it wasn't the best class and it didn't have the most interesting personal story but 'ey, whatcha gonna do. Play as Nolan North, that's what.

It's safe to say that most of the time, I'll play against my type because of voice actors. I don't usually play aggro damage sponges but I played as Axton from Borderlands 2 because I like Rob McCollum(also Axton is badass and doesn't get enough credit). I played as a human male instead of an elfish male in Dragon Age: Origins because I like Mark Hildreth. On the opposite side of the coin, the only reason why I'd play as an elfish male is because I like Yuri Lowenthal (which I've also done forrrr some reason though I usually only play female elves).

Also I'm gonna add to the "character" bit a little more because I've played a couple of Call of Duty games for the sole reason being that the characters I wanted to see/be were played by voice actors I love.

. . . VOICE ACTING -rainbow-

To keep things interesting, I gave mine green skin and workout spandex and pretended she was She-Hulk. It was especially fitting during the melee animations.
