Simpsons Character to Die in Season 26 Premiere, Clues Given

For the record, the only member of the main cast who hasn't had an Emmy is Harry Shearer, so Mr. Burns, Lenny, Dr. Hibbert, Ned Flanders, etc, are safe.

My money is on Sideshow Bob. Kelsey Grammer had an Emmy for that role and has been seen enough times for us to be attached (though they nearly killed him once before). I guess Krusty is 2nd, though I don't know if they'd do it. Sideshow Mel is likely, but he's mostly been in the background (even though he's the only reoccurring character Krusty could have a major breakdown over).

I always thought it would be Sideshow Bob, but they did a fake-out episode a few years back that I didn't see until two weeks ago, so now I'm not that sure anymore.

And Krusty is just too important to kick off, and still has some potential as a character. So it would be a mistake to get rid of him.

Maybe it's Sideshow Mel? He is part of the main secondaries, and is featured in almost every episode. And we never really knew how and why he got the job to replace Bob to begin with. So this origin story after his death might make for an interesting episode.

But in the end it's just one big guessing game, and they might just be pulling our leg on this one. Maybe it's going to be someone we didn't even consider.

Well pretty much the main one for the show is Dan Castellaneta, who voices Homer and a bunch of other characters such as Groundskeeper Willie, Krusty, Grandpa, etc. is only 56 and is still in his prime I say. Other fun fact, Dan is also responsible for providing the voice for Genie in Aladin 2, the animated series, and the Kingdom Hearts series.

So, setting aside the obvious pattern of Flander's being the harbinger of death, here's people it's definitely not going to be:

Mr. Burns: He's a stand in for way too many tropes and figures to make this work
Grandpa Simpson: You can't kill the only old guy in the family.
Apu, Moe, Lenny, Carl: all solid support characters that would hit too close to home
Flanders: Yeah, sorry, he's not going away.
Sideshow Mel: Given he usually get's one of the initial mob shots, I don't think he's going away...
Any of the Simpson family: Kind of like killing Brian (which I maintain was well executed and could have been made permanent, even if the replacement character needed more development), some things just don't go over well with the audience.
Krusty: Actually, it could be him, but he's also one of the five members of the Springfield GOP, a major point of commonality to a huge number of characters, and the only other TV personality other than Kent Brockman

Who it could be:
Kent Brockman: despite being able to get more mileage out of this one in later episodes, his actual position is completely replaceable.
Sideshow Bob: He increasingly has little to do with the series, giving him a send off would be a good way to end that decades-running joke
Barney: Close enough to homer to really pack a punch

You missed Bleeding Gums Murphy and Dr.Marvin Monroe.

In fact, Marvin Monroe didn't really die very much like Dr. Nick.

You did miss Frank Grimes tho

My guess is Sideshow Bob, he's a great character, but his episodes have been on the decline for a little while. His personality went up and down, does he hate Bart anymore? he stopped in a brother from another series but hated him deeply in The Bob next door.
As much as I like the character (it's amazing that Bart who's not the shiniest tool in the box has such a brilliant nemesis) I think it would be a great exit for a great character.

Personally i either want Grandpa to die just because of the sliding years of Homer/Marge's marriage/birth of Bart keeps sliding, whilst Grandpa being a WW2 veteran to be too integral to his character to be altered, i would think that out of all the characters, Grandpa should just die. at least Krusty has his sleazy yet funny moments, and Sideshow Bob was always a lark before the Italian episode. but in all seriousness, Homer and Marge was last in their late teens during the NINETIES, even considering the sporadic disappearance of Mona Simpson, Homer being born looks unbelievable when he's supposed to be 30-40 years old. (no, it does not help that Grandpa once said he was a toddler in WW2)

What if Poochie dies? they'll probably pull a Family Guy again and say a character dies, but turns out to not be important, it hasn't been the first time that Poochie's existence has been mentioned before, it's been referenced more than Principal Skinner's real identity of Armin Tamzarian.


Or what if it IS Sideshow Bob, but gets into a 3-way fight with Sideshow Mel and Cecil? maybe they plummet off a cliff and pull the whole "Nedna" thing all over again, letting their death settle before doing any plots, could either go that Sideshow Bob hastily studies Mel's Mannerisms so that he can imitate them to get close to Krusty but falling to his death causes Amnesia making him a replacement like Fat Tony being replaced by Fit Tony...who turns fat again.

Eventually Bob gets into the Mel persona, he tolerates Krusty, until something snaps within him, maybe seeing Cecil looking like Bob acts up the audience-surrogate side of Mel, defending Krusty/Bart from Cecil? then it turns out that Mel never died, Cecil did. for extra [annoyed grunts] the death should be falling off Springfield Gorge, because people has has enougth of that memory, right?

Dan Castellaneta is getting older, and doing the Krusty voice has to be pretty damned painful even to a young set of vocal chords. It wouldn't surprise me to see Krusty taken off the roster.

Hey let the "the show has been shit since [insert season here]" train roll, it's funny to watch it descend into mindless bickering.

That said I haven't watched it for years, mostly because I don't watch TV these days.

The show never got bad, it just parodies a family archetype and a world that no longer really exists.

The Simpsons is a textbook victim of the "it's popular and it's been around for a long time, therefore it sucks" hate train. It could be the best show that ever has and ever will exist (not too far off actually) and people STILL would be saying it's terrible.

For me, I actually think it's gotten SIGNIFICANTLY better after the so called cutoff that most people mention, season 10, more so since the Simpson's Movie. It's gotten to be much less about having it's head up it's rear end with messages and feel good B.S. and more about BEING FUNNY and entertaining like a comedy should be. The storylines are a hell of a lot better when they simply focus on wacky hijinks instead of trying to ram some family values or whatever down the viewer's throat.

OT: They did the same thing when they killed Maude. They made a big deal about killing off some character in the trailers and then picked some character that's rarely ever seen anyway and killed her off. I have no doubt that they'll do the same thing here.

So, given the clues we have (The VA has won an emmy and the episode being called A Clowin in the Dumps) I've come to the conclusion that the episode will feature the death of Krusty's Old friend, Mr. Teeny [http://simpsons.wikia.com/wiki/Mr._Teeny], who's voiced by Dan Castellaneta (same VA as Krusty, Sideshow Mel and Homer). Looks like his chain-smoking catches up to him finally, and he dies of lung cancer and the whole episode is a PSA about how smoking is bad because it kills monkeys. Atleast that's how I'm picturing it.

But Dan Castellaneta never won an Emmy for Mr. Tweeny. Three characters close to Krusty have guest stars that won mmys.
If it's someone close to Krusty it's either his father (voiced by Jackie Mason) or Sideshow Bob (voiced by Kelsy Grammer). It could tecnicly be Princess Penelope (Krustys ex-wife voiced by Anne Hathaway who also won an Emmy for that role). Hank Azaria already ruled out his characters and I think the wife have only been in one episode. That leaves us with someone in the Simpsons family or one of the above.

Oops, my bad! Must've not read that first bit properly.
Still think it would be kinda funny if after all this build-up, the only character that gets killed off is the monkey.

For me, what I usually find a lot of on the internet is that nobody will admit they're wrong no matter how blatantly obvious you make it. All the evidence in the world won't convince them of anything, especially if said evidence should have been readily apparent to anyone with eyes long before they started arguing.

I don't think there's anybody that can honestly argue against that, even though I have liked Family Guy and American Dad more or less, it doesn't even begin to compare to The Simpsons.

Personally, I actually don't watch Simpsons that often unless it's the Halloween episodes. Mostly there's things I'd rather be doing like playing video games, but I catch an new episode or repeat every once in a while and it's still great.
