We used to have a couple of sketch comedy shows in Oz called Fast Forward and Full Frontal. They were brilliant.
And there's the infamous "Chaser's war on everything".....

I was always a fan of the British "The Sketch Show" Good simple comedy that reminded me of my other favourite, Monty Python's Flying Circus.

Hmm... favourite sketch-com, eh?

Flying Circus is hit or miss but its hits are great. Same goes for SNL but it hasn't been really funny for a while. I don't know which one is my favourite of the two.

On the other hand I can easily tell you some of my least favourites: Comedy Inc comes right to mind. MadTV had one or two good sketches in my opinion but most of it is unfunny. And there was this piss-poor sketch show that my friend loved on the Comedy Network a few years back but I cannot remember the name of it.

Monty Python's Flying Circus. Yay for British comedy!
I was sure this would be like the 2nd thing put up.
by the way could you post a couple good ones to watch here, I would like to start watching it and don't know where to start.
I would just find someone with the boxset and start watching from there.
There is this one of their really funny skits.

Currently, That Mitchell and Webb Look is my favourite sketch show. It's just about all up on YouTube, here's one I quite like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xN1WN0YMWZU

On the whole, I quite like sketch comedy if it's done well, but very, very few people do it well IMO. I loathe Little Britain and Catherine Tate (repeating the same thing over, and over, and over, that's just not my idea of comedy).
Little Britain was funny...once. Then it got irritating. Then it got REALLY irritating.

On the subject of Mitchell and Webb...Numberwang much? Utterly hilarious.

Armstrong and Miller is pretty funny sometimes as well.
