Just to nip this in the bud, take this with a pinch of salt. I don't have any official source to back this up, but I imagine it will be out on most sites soon.

It seems Skyrim is doing the rounds on torrent sites, somehow getting out early. Pretty sure its confirmed for a legit copy, there was a stream going on TwitchTV (BlackCat 213) for a while before it got pulled down.

However, its not on PC. Only 360. I found this pretty funny, with developers arguing that PC pirates are the ones killing the industry and all that.

Also, a warning. May want to be wary of spoilers from here on in.

So yeah, I'm out, go confirm legitimacy of this for yourself, because I can't exactly go handing out links. Figured it might make for an interesting topic about piracy in the industry.

Have a good day everybody!

But... but piracy only exists on computers! No, you're lying I can't hear you! Consoles can't be pirate! LALALALALALALALA!

Typical industry response.

Come on, Killzone 3 was leaked early too, and I'm pretty sure Bulletstorm was as well.

Damn. I was hoping it would be out for PC. I paid for my copy, getting it early is not wrong in my eyes. Still, this early. The wait is really gonna kill me now. I highly doubt this will damage sales too much.

Regardless of my opinion on Piracy, even were I perfectly willing to pirate it, and as much as I want to play it now, pirate for consoles is something I simply can't be bothered with. So I don't find myself disagreeing with the opinion that PC pirating is the only pirating that matters. Think I only even know one or two people who ever pirate things for consoles, and even they still go out and get the big name stuff like this on release day at the store.

Explanation: Skyrim requires a Steam activation.

How to get your Steam account banned in less than a minute...

I was feeling sick before because i have to wait 1 week, 2 days, 15 hours and 38 minutes for Skryim.

Now to hear that people are already playing it. I dont i can make it man. I NEED BAD MAAAAN!

But i wont pirate it. I have to much respect for TES games.

Steam activation in general was hacked days after the Steam platform went live
they already know the basics for doing it, so they won't have much problem removing the activation, therefore, liberating the PC release from the Steam requirement
that's how they have done with a lot of other games like MW2

I find this news funny that it is only the 360.

Why are people surprised? Consoles get pirated as much as pc, Bulletstorm, Killzone, Reach, MW2. All been leaked before their launch days.

It still causes a delay.

It'll probably leak in a day or two, but it's why the console version got out first.

What a shame. It's inevitably, I guess.... but I still don't like piracy as a matter of principle.

from what I've heard, it's out on PC too, but can't be used because the scene needs the official exes to unlock it

maybe

but really I don't care about the game, so I won't look up on that

though yeah, you're right, it's pointless to pirate a game that can't even be played until the actual game is out

I'd just like to rant about piracy for a minute:

I'm all for buying indie games and supporting small developers and whatnot, but I really get annoyed when these companies who're worth hundreds of billions of dollars are complaining that they're not getting a few million dollars in potential sales from a game.

Honestly, how can you expect anybody to take you seriously about how piracy is killing your profits when you're flying in a private jet to a five star hotel in Hawaii, where you'll stay for two weeks?

Again, indie developers or really small companies, just buy the game, or don't buy it at all, huge games which are expected to rake in hundreds of millions, stop giving a shit.

EDIT: For on-topic-ness.

It is kinda funny that the leak is on the 360, bet nobody at Bethesda was expecting that, but otherwise, I'm just gonna wait and buy it, I don't feel like jumping through hoops to pirate a game for a console.

C'mon guys. Lets not pretend that PC piracy isn't 10 times easier and 20 times more likely to happen than console piracy. I know some publishers oversell the damage piracy actually does, but that doesn't mean we should do the opposite by pretending console piracy is anywhere near as prevalent as PC piracy.

Okay, this has been bugging me for a while. Do you have those creepy images because of Halloween or because you like giving people their daily heart skip?

OT: I'd like to try the game seeing as I'm waiting until the GOTY edition, which will probably take a year (or more, looking at New Vegas), but I'm not willing to pirate it.

Last thing. Anyone have any news on New Vegas GOTY? I can't find any.

Daily heart skip. >:D I try not to go over the top, though, I don't want to give anyone a panic attack (so I won't use any really bad ones).

So those million odd xbox consoles banned for piracy a couple of years ago is non existant considering that the general consencous is that most people who pirate on consoles do it offline and have a cheap one for pirating purposes?

Whie piracy may be easier on PC in a DIY sense most people who pirate on consoles actually pay people to do it for them and send money that could have been spent on non illegal practises elsewhere. Now while I don't doubt they exist I have yet to see people try and sell Pirated PC games and chip people's PC for money.
