Between this and the recent Fallout: New Vegas Mod 'Project Brazil', the amount of penis envy I have towards PC Gamers with amazing rigs damn near reduces me to big sobby man-tears :(
Me too but the amount of BS happening in console gaming has made me start saving for a serious rig. You should do the same instead of buying a 400 dollar outdated PC with built in DRM and bonus fees all for the privilege of playing their game online as they intended.

It takes more than a few hundred hours after release for any worthwhile modding content to be released.
I guess if you play it non-stop then it's only a few days, but if it's good enough to play that much, maybe getting the game earlier was a good idea since you like it so much.

I dunno I've already got a rig of my own (not really that great with a 660ti pe) and I'm still planning on a Wii U and PS4 but screw the Xbone because that seems to be the real plague.

This looks completely awesome however... there's this little thing in the back of my mind that keeps whispering "... But it's not canon and may never be."

But seriously, aspiring game devs, take note. This is how you get a job in the games industry. By making games.

There's a problem. Controllers are for gaming, not game creation or modding. A game dev kit has a lot of variables, listings, and placing. A nightmare for consoles.

I mean, how the hell does this work a console?

(image snipped for space)

You eventually need to use this, because you need to create scripts that make the game actually work past static objects like buildings.
Well, if the PS4's touchscreen is good enough, it could double as a virtual keyboard, I guess. It's to bad controllers aren't inter-operable between consoles, that's one area where the Wii U's giant slab would really shine.

It's stuff like this that makes me sad whenever I hear that future games won't have mod support [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/125024-Battlefield-4-Wont-Support-Mods].
For a second, I thought you meant future Bethesda games, and you scared me. Given that TESO won't have real mod support (for obvious reasons), it wouldn't surprise me if they were ditching support of future Fallout and TES games. :(
Same here.

I was like, seriously? They are going to do that after we got such good mods like Moons to Elsewyr?

Thank goodness it was just games in general.

And this is why I buy games like Skyrim on release day for $60, while I buy games like Battlefield 3 on sale for $17.
Wait, how does that make any sense?

It takes many months or even years for the modding scene of a game like Skyrim to fix the game, while the multiplayer scene, the only thing that's worth a damn, of a game like Battlefield 3 will be strongest at release and gradually wither and die.

I don't understand why anyone would ever buy a Bethesda game on release, they're always near unplayably buggy, ugly and have hundreds of gameplay issues that need to be resolved through modding.
Because of the long term value. The game itself is huge and detailed, two things that are the most difficult to combine. The game can easily stretch over 60 hours and is a ton of fun. Bethesda puts out quality DLC as well (after the horse armor debacle) and the modding community is easily up and running well before you ever come close to finishing the game. The fact that Bethesda consistently puts out these games that I remember (Fallout 3, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, published Fallout New Vegas) makes them a very trusted buy.

Not only that, but as a fan that started with Morrowind, I'll add that people are still modding it and that the game looks drastically different with those mods now than it did back then. I don't know how many people are working with Oblivion. Despite having very rich stories, the world set and characters weren't as complex as Skyrim. In every event, Bethesda's worlds push graphical boundries. Regardless, look at this HUGE mod. Wow, incredible.

So yeah, if there's any game company on the face of the earth that deserves every penny in the $60 game, it's Bethesda. Battlefield 4 has a lot of playability, but it isn't nearly the same thing as Bethesda games. This is the same old experience over and over again. We like this experience and a lot of people buy Battlefield/COD games at launch, but it's a drastically different kind of thing.
