I don't really think I can be blamed for siding with the empire from the very beginning. A DRAGON ATTACKED AND I NEEDED AN AUTHORITY FIGURE! And Hadvar was so nice and sorry about having people trying to lop my head off.

The Empire. Why? well Ulfric isn't exactly the nicest fellow but the real reason was a little book.

Let me ask you guys something. Did any of you read the:

Thalmor Dossier on Ulfric?

If you did. You went Empire.

Empire. Not a hard choice really seeing as Ulfric is a racist, power hungry bastard who moonlights as a Thalmor minion.

Ulfric Stormcloak is working for the Thalmor. He gains control of Skyrim and the empire is weakened making it easier for the thalmor to capture. You should realize that when you help the stormcloaks you serve the thalmor who seek the destruction of all life on nirn. My source is the Thalmor dossier on Ulfric Stormcloak. You should find it.

I have a hard time choosing the Empire. From the first moment on you get the feeling that somethings wrong with them and later on you'll see public executions from some people who just said that the Stormcloaks might have actually a good point. They are basically the dog of the Thalmore.
Uh... What?

Maybe I missed something, but if you're meaning the execution of the ex-guard in Solitude, which I believe you are, it's because that guard willingly let Ulfric flee the city under his watch with the knowledge that he had just killed the King. He wasn't being executed for no reason, but for treason.

Anyways, I went with the Empire. The Stormcloaks are going to do more damage to the Empire and make it easy for the Thalmor to crush it. The Empire needs to stand as one and have Skyrim and the Nords behind it. Skyrim recieved virtually none of the burden of the war after all, and they will be needed to fight it again when the Empire has time to recover.

See, that's all the Empire really needs right now is time before they fight the Thalmor again. Give them a few years at most to absorb their losses and retrain some armies and they'll be ready to take the Thalmor on once more. The High Elves will have much more difficulty raising their numbers then the Empire, so all that they need to do is continually wear them down and the Thalmor should be defeated in the end.

Empire, because I read the Thalmor Dossier on Ulfric before doing the civil war questline, it pretty well sealed it.

I haven't actually sided with either yet, but eventually I think I'll go with the Empire, because my character is an Imperial, and Ulfiric seems like a dick.

My character has not decided, and probably never will. Ulfric does not seem to notice me much (come to think of it, barely any Jarl does), and his city is segregated and full of racists. On the other hand, the Empire tried to execute me (not a good way to get on someone's side). I go up to Thalmor Justicars and tell them I worship Talos, then they get too excited about it. I'm perfectly content letting everyone have their wars, their lands, their women, their mead, whatever, I don't care. I saved the world, and can hang out with dragons, BITCHES!!!!

Havent made an official decision yet, some 90 hours in, but am leaning toward the Stormcloaks. The Empire has kind of run its course in my eyes so its time for some radical change. Also, a decisive victoy against the Empire is a victory against the Thalmore, which would inspire other provinces to rebel.

Correct me If I'm wrong but doesn't the Dossier just say he He cracked under Interrogation and that the Civil War indirectly benefits the Thalmor?

I went Empire, although I thought that both sides were being dicks to an equal level.

Joined the Stormcloaks because it seemed the natural thing to do. Although further into the game I started to think that Ulfric is just a power-hungry racist douchebag and the empire's really not so bad.

I mean, the worst thing the empire did is outlawing the worship of Talos, but that was a condition forced on the empire because the Thalmor had them by balls. (uh oh. bad mental image. go away!)

And the first major battle in the Stormcloak campaign didn't sit well with me. I liked that town :(

Is it possible to switch sides when you're already deep into the quest line for one faction?
Maybe go talk to the dude in castle solitude. If that doesn't work, walk into windhelm, kill lottsaa bitches, try again.

I had a hard time deciding, I wanted to join the stormcloaks since the empire thought it'd be easier to chop off my head rather than stop for a moment to wonder why since I did nothing, however the stormcloaks were almost as bad, almost to the point of being racist bullies. It wasn't until I talked with the jarl of Falkreach that I finally decided. I may not like the Stormcloaks, but I don't like the empire even more. And at least if I have a complaint about how the stormcloaks run Skyrim, I know who to go to.

So far neither. Although I'm partial to the empire cause my character is an imperial and the vast majority of my quests have taken place in empire lands. The only thing holding me in check is the damn Thalmor - although something tells me the pro-imperial nords don't mind me when I bust up some pointy ears.

I went with the empire,

but I am fully intending to murder each and every one of them once they are no longer useful.

So you went with the people who tried to kill you at the start of the game? Okay.

I had to choose the Stormcloaks because I despise the Thalmor.
Bureaucracy. Its a *****, ain't it? Don't blame the machine, fight it's enemies!

I didn't much care for the Thalmor, but then they sent an execution squad my way (FOR SOME INEXPLICABLE REASON.) They're on my shitlist now. I think i'm going to figure out where they hang out and do some damage this evening.
