Skyrim Too Easy?

I can 1 shot regular mobs on expert with my bow... granite its a tier under the best bow I could buy and its upgraded to superior with steel arrows....and I have every piece of equipment I can upgraded to give 13% more bow damage....that combined with the 2x sneak damage slaughters mostly everything that's my height that I've encountered right now....exempting things like mammoths and dragons of course.

I've played for about 12 hours... around 1/4 into the main quest. Just doing random activities in the 1st largeish city right now (forgot the name..Whitecaste or something?) on a wood elf based on archery, light armor, 1h weapons, and stealth. Got a shield and superior steel sword just in case the situation gets a little sticky.

I never understood there's always at least one person who plays on the hardest difficulty of any game and always says it's easy. I've had quite a bit of hell on a few Skyrim quests, so I don't see how you're "One shotting everyone"

it depends on how you play (i don't play that way but i "get" it.)

they usually use cheese strategies or make their characters perks/skills Over powered or cheap to the ultimate extreme, then claim "hah, this game is easy!"

granted skyrim probably is average on "difficulty" but there were always be those people...

and for them, there is mods that make every enemy 1-2 hit KO you every time.

Just run it. He hits like a mac truck, but isn't all that fast moving.

Or you could just go do sidequests until you're prepared with better spells or gear.

It honestly really depends on how you play, if you make a b-line for an all out combat character then yea you'll roll right through people. I unfortunately saw 15x backstab bonus from daggers in the stealth tree and I was like hell yea!....and then I realized daggers are pretty much the worst weapon in the game and now I'm actually debating whether or not I should restart the game with a proper combat character.

Woah, daggers are pretty awesome. They're far better than what they used to be and, when you use them in stealth situations (I mean all of them, not just stealth crit kills), they're even better. They'll be terrible if you're only using one of them, of course, they're best used dual wield with 2 points in the dual one handed perk. Either way, you should have enough points in other skills that you can still make a character that poses a challenge to their enemies.

OT: Skyrim isn't too easy, I don't know what difficulty I'm on, but it's quite challenging. Even as a Level 17 Werewolf I couldn't kill a Draugr Dreadlord. I still got trouble fighting the Silver Hand, too.

I don't know how you're using them effectively, I have two steel daggers, and I've pretty much just been spamming both mouse buttons to do the cross cut and then using the power attack with both, I seem to kill most human characters, but I end up having only a silver of health left because you really can't seem to do anything about defense with daggers. Especially with being sneak and forced to wear light armor, its somewhat hard having to split points between stealth, one handed, and archery. Whereas my second character I just went 2handed and archery and I'm just steam rolling people left and right.
And with daggers I'm having an insanely hard time to attack the bigger enemies, especially ones you really can't sneak up on, without that sneak attack bonus I get flattened damn near instantly. Like the werewolf encounter, when I got him to a sliver of his health I couldn't do enough damage with the daggers to beat his self heal, I had to switch to fire magic for both hands to take him out.

I actually like how much damage archery does now. I remember in Oblivion I could shoot 10 arrows in the face of a generic bandit, and still doing no damage.

It's been a refreshing change.

I use a bow a lot more than I thought I would now normal mobs don't seem to be wearing the armour of arrow immunity they had in Oblivion.

Too easy my bollocks. I've got two quests I can't finish because the boss enemies in them kill me damn near instantly. My first dragon nearly wiped me out potions wise, and I didn't even land the killing blow.

I typically try to make games more difficult. I prefer playing my rpgs with light or no armor at all - and let me tell you, it can be quite interesting. Try stumbling into a Falmer cave as a lv5 mage on the highest difficulty with nothing but the most basic spells and robes for protection. Those little guys could easily 2 hit me (1 hit with poison). It was hard but I managed to get about halfway through the cave without changing the difficulty (it was pretty much game over once the guys started using magic). Took me at least 2 hours to get through but I'll be damned if I didn't feel accomplished afterwards.

The game can be a difficult as you want to make it. You could take the easy route and smash everything with a 2 handed sword but where's the fun in that?

i just ran passed it to me the falmer are insane to kill but i havnt tried to do it for ten levels

10 hours in, picked my fights, just walked most of the time and found it really enjoyable. I seriously didn't like oblivion OR morrowind but I find this game amazing.

Took the risk of pre-ordering it, but so far it's been well worth it.

I started a mage on Master difficulty to see if it could prove a challenge since my warrior's mainquest broke down (gg Bethesda). It seemed to be challenging enough at first, but then I started killing dragons without taking a single point of damage.

And I wish the game was too easy just by combat difficulty, but everything else is piss easy too. Just follow the compass and you can't go wrong. All gear is ridiculously easy to obtain, same goes with money. But I can fit this all into one word.... Casuals. \o/

fight a dragon single handed, no problem. Kill a frost Troll NO WAY! i got killed by the frost troll going up the 7000 steps to the Grey beards more then any dragon in the game so far.

Get the daedric daggers(Legendary) x2 they kick ass! i only got the 6x dmg but with 2 daggers its 12x so 15 has to be 30 still dont know yet

Also im on my lvl 31 nord 2hander with full Daedric armor axe/sword/bow/daggers (took 3½ hours to get the freaking mats <_<) and even i get my ass handed to me a few times

And this is why i've chosen to play as a literal tank. I wanted to play as my usual sneaky-stealie-shooty-tooty, but i was scared of being left with a character which can't actually kill anything...again.

I play one of those and it kinda works even if the enemy doesn't die with only one stealth attack, thanks to the new (I think it's new) stealth mechanics, you can use a quite effective hit-and-run tactic. More than once I took a full room out without the enemies discovering me. I gets really hard when you get to face strong melee monster, like a few of the Draugr Deathlords... or a dragon on the open field... but hey it would be boring if everything was that easy.

OT: Since it's a sand-box open world game, it's up to you how hard you make it yourself. I for once decided to explore the world after my first dragon-kill... and I fought much harder battles after that.. around lvl 9 I stumbled into a ice-troll den, while fleeing from there I run into two Ice-sabertooth's but was "saved" by a passing Dragon... after that I decided to stay out of the ice till I gain a few lvl. And yes, the two-hand combo seems to be a bit unbalanced.

Conversely, I'm at about 20 hours and haven't done a single step on the main questline. Level 16, stealth, sword and arrows. Hagravens alone will tear me up, as will many caster types.

Though I can mow through an entire village of Forsworn.

I would guess a focus on pure combat will leave you tougher than most things around you, so your combat skills are relatively higher than a balanced character your level (as it did in Oblivion).

I made a wood-elf archer, concentrating on archery, sneak, light armour (as much as you can concentrate on getting hit, anyway) and lockpicks.
With 2x sneak bonus, I can pretty much kill most common enemies with 1 arrow. Only the tougher dudes, like Restless Draugirs, take some more, but I can take 'em out with a 2handed sword I keep just in case easily.

This is on normal btw.

Haven't got Skyrim yet (will probably be getting it for christmas), so I'm just curious. It's possible to play an all-archer character, then?
A fan of archery myself (got my own longbow, arrows, target etc.), I love playing an archer in any game in which it's actually possible to play as one efficiently...

Well I was able to kill the troll after buying some more powerful magic from Dragonsreach's court magician. Had to rely on backpedaling and using the environment and my magic to take him out.

Seriously though. I was on the Companions questline and have just gotten through the Proving Honor quest. There was one room where there were huge amounts of enemies. And they killed me numerous times. Farkas couldn't even handle all those guys. So as a result they would gang bang on me. It wasn't until I used a fire storm scroll to clear the group that I was able to get through. God damn...

Don't worry...it gets harder after the game glitches your two best weapons away that you made and improved yourself while your in an environment full of omniscient guards, leaving you with only your sneak skill and two daggers. I love this game, but that is really annoying.

I'm playing on Expert, and I'd say the difficulty's just right. There are several enemies which have stomped me with one or two blows, and others which were a cakewalk. Probably depends how you play, plus you might just be a really good player or a liar, OP.
