HOly crap, they're getting some big guns for this game!

Max von Sydow, and Christopher Plummer! Seriously impressive! Thoughts?

I don't care who they are, but there's over 70 VAs! As opposed to Oblivion 16 (or 18, can't remember).

Well, Oblivion had an impressive line-up and had some of the worst voice acting ever. So call me cautious.

What did Oblivion have apart from five minutes of Patrick Stewart?

edit: Also, this list from Skyrim underwhelms me.

Yeah, and I'm going to bet you $100 they all either die or disappear at some point in the main quest. Oblivion featured some great actors, it's a shame they were barely featured and were completely underused, Patrick Stewart was killed off in the fricken tutorial!

Also, I've said this before and I'll say it again; it isn't how many voice actors you have, it's how good they are and how good you use them.

Hopefully they'll have some good characters and scripts for them as well.

Sean Bean, Lynda Carter (again), Terence Stamp, Wes Johnson.

So that's Boromir, Wonder Woman, General Zod and that guy from America's Most Wanted.

And? If it is anything like the other Bethesda voice-acted titles, then the talent will be either: a) underutilized and killed off, or b) used for 5 minutes during the tutorial and killed off.

Plus, you can have the greatest actors in the world, but if the writing is bad (which is will be since it is a Bethesda game), then it doesn't really matter how big of names they have on board.

They should have tried to get Simon Templeman.

But seriously, having all those voice actors isn't going to move me. I'm going into Skyrim being prepared for bad acting. It caught me off guard in Oblivion and I won't let it happen again.

Wait...Sean Bean was in Oblivion?! That's what I get for completely ignoring the main quest...

Yeah thats great and all (not really) but is there Liam Neeson (like in FO3)?

For the record I seriously have no idea who those people are. They say they have a star studded cast but the people they have gotten have appeared in about 2 movies each. Nothing on Pat Stewart or the afforementioned Liam Neeson.

Yeah, you didn't miss much though. Imagine Sean Bean ordering a coffee while hungover. That's his entire vocal range throughout the game.

I don't really care who they are, as long as they sound good. I'm not changing my opinions untill I hear some proof.

Is it weird that I have no idea who any of them are? I don't recognise the names but I do know those movies.

It was actually 14.

Though Patrick Stewart dies at the beginning, meaning it's really only 13 you hear throughout the game. Or if you ignore/complete the main quest, then you're stuck with 11 voice actors.

11 voice actors for about 1000 NPC's, if Bethesda is to be believed.

It's a little weird, yeah. Joan Allen, Max Von Sydow and Christopher Plummer are all A-list actors. Sydow and Plummer in particular should be excellent. They have fantastic voices for this kind of thing.

Okay... what I'm reading from a few posters here is Bethesda is notorious for underusing experienced actors in their games. Patrick Steward is the only one I can think of frankly... which is one game in 7ish? Hardly enough to warrant such a label.

Holy crap man... don't talk out loud if your not going to at least do some research. 2 Movies? Max started his film career nearly 20 years before Neeson was even born and Plummer has being acting in various productions every year since 1958, 20 years before Neesons career even started. Patrick Stewart is just about on par with them, but a fair bulk of his acting is in theatre.

Liam Neeson is a baby compared to these venerated actors.

really? You know an IMDB check would prove you wrong? I feel nice, so I'll show just how wrong you are;

Max Von Sidow: 145 actor credits http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001884/

Christopher Plummer: 184 actor credits http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001626/

Joan Allen: 39 actor credits http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000260/

Lynda Carter: 38 actor credits (including female Nords and Orcs in Oblivion) http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004812/

Michael Hogan: 101 actor credits http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0389581/

Vladimir Kulich: 26 actor credits http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0474520/

Claudia Christian: 102 actor credits(currently is not credited for Skyrim) http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0160004/

Diane Salinger: 62 actor credits (also not credited yet for Skyrim) http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0758405/

and then so on. You are welcome for the education.

Some good ones in there especially Max Von Sydow, he's great at fantasy roles, just look at his one scene in Conan the Barbarian. I'm also pleased that there's many more voice actors, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and even New Vegas (yes I know Bethesda didn't develop it) suffered from having very few voices in the game.
