It will suck for me. Period.

I'm just not buying it until I can get it cheap, I don't see what all the hype is about, yeah it will be good, but not as good as people make out.

I have deliberately kept my expectations for Skyrim low after building myself up for Oblivion and nearly being poleaxed by the blandness of it. So I require of Skyrim only three things: Dwemer ruins, werewolves, and a combat system where you don't just hold down block and wait to get in two quick slashes while your opponent recoils.

Look at the axe, and look at the Draugr.

Are you seriously trying to tell me that there's no hit reaction? Plus, combat does feel great, at least for me.
You mean that part that looks like it's part of a cutscene? How about you look at some NON cutscene, NON cherry picked for a trailer combat?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvgqXz35Tjs like this for example

Sliced in the neck by a sword? No reaction.

Hit by an arrow? No reaction.

Hit by multiple bursts of electrical magic? No reaction.

at 1:34? My infamous LOOK MA IM SLIDING failure of a mechanic.

The combat looks better than it does in Oblivion, but it still has plenty of shittiness for everyone.

The only thing I'm worried about is that after Fallout 3 and New Vegas it might be hard for me to settle back into the first-person melee gameplay of Elder Scrolls.

This is one of those rare games where not liking something means you can easily modify it to suit your needs.

I really cannot imagine anything will be a deal breaker for me unless the game flat out does not work, which is unlikely. Any little nitpicks I have can be modded out.

Too many dragons could ruin it for me. I want the experiance of being attacked by a dragon to be exilerating, unique and a rare occurance - I don't want it happening every 10 minutes, every time I fast travel somewhere etc or when I'm busy. So too many dragons could ruin it for me.

What I hate about Obivilion was the how every NPC looked exactly and sound exactly like each other. If Besatha fix this then I'll be cool.

Fallout-like glitches.. Constant freezes, CTD's etc.
It must be a really good and addictive game to stop me from playing it.

It will take a lot to make Skyrim suck for me, but it would be nice to be able to fight on horseback.

i don't think you have to worry about this too much, from what i gathered they seem to be treated like "gems", i suppose you'll meet your first dragon pretty late in the game, and they'll be relatively rare, meeting them will be an event, like "WOW, OMG, A DRAGON!", not a casual/regular thing?

(or at least, it's how it should be, so if it's otherwise, it could be... not a deal-breaker, but a big disappointment.)

about the graphics - i don't care, i would even be happy if it would be possible to set it to look rougly like Morrowind, because that would mean i could play it without having to buy a new maschine i don't have money for (yes, i'm poor and extremely low-tech, basically i can't run almost anything that was released after 2008, with the exception of some indie games, but i don't really care cause the way gaming industry is going in recent 3-4 years is very boring/unappealing to me, but skyrim seems to be one of the gems i'll be sad i'm unable to play as soon as it comes out.)

the biggest issue for me would be the same as in morrowind, HUGE world, but with so few things to do in it, yes, there are loads of quests, but they're all basically "kill, fetch, talk through not too deep dialogue" - which results in a feeling of repetitivness pretty fast for me.

I don't want to see the game simplified or "Streamlined".

I look for Elder scrolls games to be immersive and engaging, not a slow treadmill, but a fast run through a mystical landscape with lots of options of how to build my character.

My only hope is the current damage done by "Streamlining" is capable of being modded out of the game.

Since im not planning on using the fasttravel (to much) I dont want to stop and fight a dragon every ingame kilometer travelled either.
2 things on this point, 1st, you can decline a fight with a dragon, if you see one and it sees you, you turn and leave or proceed and attack. Also, in one of those 3 hour hands on previews I read that there is a Caravan fast travel system, that is amazing because you pay 20 gold and it takes you to your destination, so it keeps the system immersive.

Let us hope, it's the best installment in the series. See you in 3 weeks forum.
Im fairly oke with avoiding the occasional dragon by going around it, but it would be a bit of a problem if im not using fasttravel and i really need to get to a town to sell my loot.
Guess it comes down too: As long as the dragons dont turn up like oblivion-gates everywhere, it will be manageable.
Dont really know if im all that happy with the mentioned caravansystem, if it's just between towns, that is perfectly fine with me (like Stiltstriders) It would be kind of weird to ask a caravaner to drop me off in that hard to reach, snowy mountaintop with a dungeon entrance where nothing else is going on middle of nowhere.

Nice to see someone else picking this up.
In Oblivion, you were constantly suffering from blows when an npc got in a hit, but other way around only worked if you made a powerattack. This does feel a bit like a point to be improved. Finishing moves look nice and all, but it's not an improvement to this problem. Still i can get over that considering my experiences in Morrowind like this video shows:

Less then promissed weirdness [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/108446-Skyrim-Will-Be-Weird-Like-Morrowind] is one of the things that im slightly worried about. Oblivion was a good game, but in whole it felt too much as 'generic fantasy'. It's a matter of taste, lets leave it at that.
I think that was just caused by the limitations of the horrible GameBryo engine. Hopefully the unique race appearances are a good sign.

I would only be disappointed if activating the thunderstorm dragon shout in a city didn't get me at least a 10,000 oren bounty. That and if a dragon swoops down and steals my horse.

If they mess up the guilds, dungeons and sidequests. Cause that is my main motivation when playing a Bethesda RPG.

My biggest disappointment would be not being able to play the game. I 'm currently trying to leave my xbox360 and want to get Skyrim from Steam. The thing is though, I own both Oblivion Deluxe and Fallot 3 GOTY on steam and neither work on my laptop while the entire rest of my steam library does. I suspect this to be an issue with windows 7 as I have access to 2 significantly weaker vista computers that while technically capable of running oblivion (and 1 fallout 3), don't run them well. Additionally, a friend of mine has Fallout 3 and new Vegas along with windows 7 and fallout 3 doesn't work for him but he's been playing new Vegas non-stop. Despite this support for my 2 Bethesda games just not being compatible with windows 7, I'm still worried.

This concern also extends to any early game bugs that render the game unplayable. [Remembers Bethesda's history with bugs and PC games. Seriously considers getting Skyrim for PS3.]

Oh yeah, and this:

I don't think this is the case, but the game would be ruined for me if everytime I skipped town a dragon shows up while I'm not looking and kills several imprtant NPC's who were going to give me quests. That would piss me off.
