The internet will go down from the first day patch on this game, I bet it.

I never got why people seemed to rally against Steam. It's a program, you buy stuff on it, it loads your stuff up.

Aw fuck. I was hoping the retail version wouldn't need Steam. This really sucks. I know it's better than some other options, but I still hate when I have to use Steam. It's an extra program that doesn't do anything useful (to me). Why can't we just have the system where the disc has to be in the drive to play?

bah, this might seem cool, but compared to both Morrowind and Oblivion, this is a huge step backwards. Both those games let me use CD-less options instead of installing securom or some other shit. By making it Steam only, they are screwing over a lot of people who don't want to have anything to do with Steam.

Personally, I'm OK with it because I like having Steam track my progress and launch my games, but I know there are going to be people out there pissed by this.

Note: My post has nothing to do with piracy. I just liked being able to rip my games to an .iso format and use a drive emulation program to keep things simple. Oblivion was one of the last games that let me do that without having to go online for a CD hack. One more reason why I've become such a Steam convert is because I don't need to deal with the disks at all.
This post is fail because morrowind required disks to be in and oblivion had securom

For a minute I thought you meant that technology in the game world had evolved and this Elder scrolls would be steampunk'd...

Looks like I will be adding this game to my Legally-Purchased-but-Cracked-Anyway collection.
Was just about to say that.

Don't have Steam and I won't be using it. Cracked it is.

Good to hear, since I use Steam all the time anyway and never had any kind of trouble with it, it's like it doesn't have any DRM at all.

I'm getting a bit sick of every other damn game being on steam, yes it is better to the other alternatives but I'm just not a fan of it anymore.
Also, I'm still waiting with bated breath to see how Skyrim turns out, because Bethesda's track record in regards to the PC as of late has been abysmal, I mean New Vegas's launch filled with problems, Brink is/was terrible and it is still broken for a lot of ATI users (and I would put money down that they will never bother to fix it), and I hear Skyrim was geared towards being more console accessible which just screams a bug filled game that is par for Bethesda that is crippled by being a port.
Who knows, maybe my distrust is unfounded, but I really don't feel like putting down my money and getting burnt by Bethesda again. Hopefully the game will be amazing but definitely not a day 1 for me.

Oh thank Akatosh. '-_-

If there was one thing that would've caused me to cancel my pre-order it would've been non-Steam DRM. I still have horrible memories of Windows Live. *Shudders*
For me too. Games For Windows Live was a horrible service.

You know, this is the second time this month we get incredibly obvious news about upcoming games. First Arkham City having PhysX and 3D, and now Skyrim using Steamworks.
Back in 2008/2009, the fans got really mad because of Games For Windows Live being in Fallout 3, so Bethesda signed for a distribution agreement with Steam... seems like many people didn't pay attention at this back then.

This makes me sad I had to get it for 360. On the other hand I get a kick ass map so I'm happy.

But. Eine kleiner problemist zat peoplez vill inevitably ***** und moanlike ze littl bitchz zey arr.

And buying it on a console... dear unholy god, WHATTHE FUCK IS WRONG WITH DAS PERSON. It's a Bethesda game. Moddability is half the point. Consoles have none of that.

Great another non valve, single player game, brough on CD, that I have to install steam for. Just when I got rid of it, due to finishing other steamworks games. This sucks.

People happy about this only have themselves to blame that EA and other company are copying this behaviour. So thanks a lot steamworks DRM lovers.

The more I hear about this game the less appealing it is. A console port that requires me to run a client to connect to the internet first, yay.

Actually the PS3 and 360 will be compatible with mods, you just load them up from your computer via USB stick, and shove that into your console. I think this may be the first time I've ever seen this, but I could be wrong. Either way, this makes me very happy, as there's only my PS3 in the house that will run it, and I love a good mod.

Best news I've heard all day. If this game wasn't already a must buy, it certainly is now. And...correct me if I'm wrong...but by using Steamworks, does this mean that Skyrim will be unavailable on Origin? Icing on the cake! Tee hee.

Bethesda just keeps making good decisions!
If they're full of good decisions, then maybe they can buckle down and face Notch like a man would...in Quake 3: Arena.
