Who, holy crap. I can't wait to check this out. I'd tried to replay morrowind but they're right, it is more dated than we may recall.

This is an incredibly ambitious project. I'd never have thought this would really have happened.

You know, morrowoblivion is actually made illegal and is considered akin to piracy to bethesda.
It is free and requires a copy of Morrowind to be playable. So they appear to have sidestepped everything.

I am curious about this, what content from the original Morrowind game would be required since they are rebuilding it all from scratch.

They aren't making a new IP. They are taking an original work and copying it as verbatim as possible. They aren't copying the code, true, but they are copying storylines and building designs and probably books and spells and everything else.

It doesn't matter that the code isn't the same code. This would be a copyright infringement easily. Requiring a Morrowind purchase just sidesteps that issue entirely and if what Strazdas said earlier is correct, they ran into legal issues with Morroblivion before.
