The game is the scariest thing ever. Forever.

My friends and I were playing it last night, and while talking about something, my friend wasn't walking in the game for about 30 seconds.

When we yelled at him to continue (he talks too much sometimes) he bumped the mouse, turned himself around, and THERE HE WAS IN HIS FUCKING FACE.

We all screamed.

I NEVER SCREAM OUT OF FEAR.

The game is perfect. I don't even need a better Slendy model.

This looks really terrible from just about every perspective I can think of. Graphics, bad, gameplay, bad, story, non-existent, atmosphere, alright, but broken by everything else.

HOLY SHIT YES!

I LOVE the Slendy-mythos, and if they can do it well, I will be ALL over it. I am gonna be optimistic, even though chances are it's gonna suck. We will see.

Creepy things suddenly appear. Nice to see horror games haven't moved away from that much.
Considering there's entire games dedicated to that ("SCP Containment Breach", anyone?), it's safe to say that it's used because it's really, REALLY effective.

Wow, just played it there.
Defiantly works as an atmosphere builder, Making you super-afraid of taking the next step.

Just wow, give it a look
(perhaps it's just all the Marble Hornets I've been watching but Slendy just makes me jump out of my skin)

Forget fidelity, modeling and whatever else. When you glance behind you and see that fucker INCHES AWAY FROM YOU, IT. IS. TERRIFYING.

I screamed so loud I scared my mother. Hell, I didn't even really scream. I squealed. This game made me squeal.

I also really like how in buildings, he'll stand by the corner so you just barely glance at his side. Its damn frightening.

Oh God.
Back when I watched all of Marble Hornets at night, I was terrified and couldn't sleep.
Now someone has made a game out of it.

AWESOME!
[small]But please improve Slendy's model, it looks ridiculous in the trailer.[/small]

I know it's not really or anything, but Slender man scares the hell out of me. I guess it's the mind-fuck. I remember watchin' Marble Hornets and in one of the entries, the guy is sleep and Slender Man is just there....staring...The guy wakes up and he's gone.

That's super horrifying to me.

If anyone knows how well this runs under WINE, I'd be super thankful!

Absolutely brilliant. The first three minutes I kept thinking I was seeing Slenderman and then BAM he came out of nowhere....I didn't last ten minutes.

That's just cheap, juvenile scare tactics. Limiting vision and using darkness is hardly the making of true horror.

Slender is currently a beta (as far as I know) so there's still a chance (hopefully) that the visuals of the Slender Man can be improved for the final version. The game is brilliant as it stands, but a good, genuinely holy-shit-creepy model would really sell it.
Some post-rendering effects wouldn't be unwelcome. It helped Amnesia's Brutes alot; the blurred visuals from the game look alot scarier than the screenshots of the model on the web.

Sounds good. I only vaguely heard of the Slender Man before this. It is a nicely playing off the fear we construct.

I think the part that makes this game work is specifically the slow movement. It makes you feel really helpless. If you could openly sprint forever at the speed of a coke addict, it probably wouldnt be half as scary. Its why older PS1 horror games hit the nail on the head so well. When your fields of view are limited, and the speed at which you can move is not much faster then whats chasing you (if not slower then whats chasing you) your going to feel screwed at every encounter.

I watched some gameplay videos of the game. I don't understand what the point of it is.

When slenderman shows up, the whole screen goes to static. The entire screen goes white with slenderman's blank face taking up the whole picture. Static again, and the game ends.

Is there a point to the game, or is it just a 10-20 minute romp that leads up to one single jump scare?
i think it will be more like this game http://scpcb.wordpress.com/

also play this game http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-087 for better understanding
See, I've played SCP CB before. It's fun and scary... 173 always makes me shit my pants when he shows up. But again, I don't understand what the purpose of SCPCB was other than "survive as long as you can."
