Marble Hornets (which has very little coverage of marble and none whatsoever of hornets) did expand on his myth a little bit...

It is incredibly fast-moving and maybe even invisible when not being seen in a photograph or through a camera... it induces amnesia when nearby... it causes electronic devices to have weird glitches and maybe even capture sounds of the past and future... it causes severe coughing over long exposure... it takes on human "ambassadors" who wear masks and over time become something more like him...

Really, Marble Hornets is awesome. If it's daylight out and you don't scare too easily, watch the hell out of it. It's very clever and well-done.

I think its also a testament to how well the internet can be used to collaborate on works together. I think Slender man is a fairly cool character with some interesting myth around him, especially considering it all just came from a photoshopped picture. The right amount of mystery around it (not trying to go too far into detail lets each persons imagination become involved) and bits added from many different people over time is what makes all mythical creatures cool. So I guess you could say he is one too, just a more recent one that's clearly been intentionally made up.

Actually, multiple people have reported sightings of him despite it's obvious that he's made up. It just shows the power of the human imagination, as well as our ability to assimilate fictional concepts and attempt to apply them to reality. That's how he gained the position of 'mythical creature'.
