First time I watched the video was 10:30 at night...I haven't been that scared since watching Blink at night!

And if you think I'm watching that video again, then as Judas Priest once put it...You've Got Another Thing Comin'

Not without posting these, it's not.

Consider that the Coup De Grace.
See you in your dreams, stud.
That first picture isnt scary... it should be hidden better so you have to look for it and then its creepy.

And that second one just looks like their is a guy ruining your photograph by standing in the most obvious place ever. :D

The second one has always unnerved me to no end.

I read a story called "The Thing" in a book named "Short Stories to Tell in the Dark," and I always found a strange resemblance in bodily comparison to the illustration of the creature and the Slender Man.
[sub]NEVER read that book to your children. It seems like it's aimed at them - trust me, it isn't.[/sub]

We have a TV show in the UK called "Most Haunted".
That show is ridiculous xD

When the presenter pretends to be possessed all the time, you can only be concerned :p
I agree. Even if it was a real show, they aren't very professional on how they go about investigating. Take Ghost Hunters, for example, they were already a well-respected investigative team before they had a show. They are the real deal, I'm sure of it.

The videos are interesting...but scary? Not really. It didn't keep me from walking into my pitch black room at 3 AM and then running like a little kid into the bathroom because I thought I saw a man's shadow move across the window. That was all Silent Hill's doing.

I like the videos though. They make you think (and are honestly more appealing to me than most thrillers).

I'd point out Sneaklemming allready did a thread on this topic (a better thread with all due respect) but he seems to have done so allready.

Go on the unfiction froums if you want to follow this ARG closely, they do some very good work collecting sound and pictures.

Today at school someone in my careers class was talking about how he has never been afraid of anything. Now previously watching these videos of Slendemran myself I remember how unnerving these videos were. Now the kid was scared and walked away before I could even show him the second video but I digress. The true point of this thread was just to bring up a fairly well known myth and see what you guys know or believe about this.

Now for those of you who have never heard of Slenderman here is a little blurb from Know Your Meme: The Slender Man is a mythical creature completely created on the Internet which has grown beyond its Internet Urban Legend status to become the target of pictures, fictional stories and videos about ?him?. He?s often depicted as a tall and thin silhouette, wearing black pants, a black suit with a white shirt, and a black necktie underneath. What is startling and creepy about this creature is that he is usually depicted with absolutely no visible face. Furthermore, he can stretch out or shortens his arms as well as he hides some kind of tentacles on his back.

Also viral videos that seem to be about Slenderman popped up in June 20 2009 the first video can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bn59FJ4HrmU and yes this is the video I showed the kid at school today so please take caution they can be very unnerving so please don't look into if you scare easy.

So Escapist now I ask you. What do you think?
Definitely an internet hoax. entries #11 & #13 cemented it for me. How do you not notice a dude in broad daylight especially (in #13's case) 12 FREAKING FEET IN FRONT OF YOU!!!!!!!

More importantly, why would someone's who supposedly so paranoid not try and get a single clear shot of slenderman?

Yes I did (despite the times when the sound was distorted or cut out) and that doesn't change that people see with their eyes not their ears. So unless those guys are actually blind, then their awareness of a guy who stands out in a field in daylight is very poor. And they don't get a focused shot despite him not moving and Alex being paranoid about this?

Is it just me or do the tentacles actually make him less scary? I mean, 'unnatural-looking human(?) with unclear logic-defying abilities and possibly murderous intentions' (pretty much being wherever he wants to be and knowing who's looking into him, kind of like a Slasher) is creepier to me than 'tentacle-monster that looks kind of human'. These kinds of myths are creepy if they seem realistic or at least semi-plausbible. The tentacles instantly place this myth in the 'so obviously fake' category.

Well, I didn't check which one you were actually talking about,Now that I've checked it...#11 he was asleep so he probably couldn't hear or see him we were only able to see his shadow so we don't even know if he was necessarily in the house. Plus if you check of the site for marble hornets it explains in episode 13 that he did see Slenderman when he turned the corner but he started running which in why the camera dropped so fast.

I honestly don't know what to make of this whole meme. Seems retarded. However, I've read all the creepypasta on ED and it didn't really phase me, so maybe I'm not really a reliable source on what is or isn't scareworthy.

My personal favorite is 'Sarah O'Bannon.' Not the creepiest, but it had a good hook at the end.

Yeah, I love Marble Hornets too.

And the beauty of this is, if you get sufficiently engrossed in Marble Hornets, you start seeing Slender Man everywhere you look. I've seen him while I'm walking to the store, I've seen him at the park, in the movie theater, and in the library, always out of the corner of my eyes, in the distance, through windows, et cetera.

I loved the Slender Man when I found him. Unnerving and creepy, my view is that he was a surprisingly well told horror story via use of a meme.

I then went on to steal him and put him in one of my short stories, submitted it to my creative writing class, they all freaked the hell out, and only one of them knew about the meme.
