Smell of videogames

My brand of choice's oatmeal moisturizer means Minecraft, Black Cherry Doctor Pepper means Pharoah, double-stuff potatoes are the second Zelda game... and many, many others I can't think of now. Lots of smells mean games to me.
Usualy I don't realize it until I smell something and go "ohgawd I want to be playing X now" and I get a fleeting hppy feeling of the good old days. The real life reminds me nostalgia sucks.

Well my brother just got the AC3 and the flag that came with it smells like a freshly opened pack of pokemon/yugioh cards
When I first saw the thread I thought you meant the actual smell of the physical game. I love when I open a new game for the first time and take a big whiff of the disc, plastic, and instruction manual smells. I thought I was a bit weird for this as well.Godsfists said:
Not really the same thing, but I remember the soundtrack CDs that came with the first Blazblue smelled like honey. That was pretty odd.

I can't say that I've got any smells that make me think of games, but when I'm playing games with particularly pretty natural environments, like Okami and Flower, I just can't help but also smell the wind, grass, and flowers as I travel through those beautifully-rendered fields.
Video Games...To me there are several scents I associate with video games.
The first is the smell of plastic and rubbing alcohol. Many afternoons were spent cleaning the contacts of my NES games. Over time the faded smell of isopropyl alcohol and old plastic form my earliest memories.
It would be years later, during my Jr. High Years that I would come to know a most peculiar smell. A sort of fruity or floral air freshener. As during those years my only access to video games was during my annual trip to visit my father. A time when terrible sleep habits and poor hygiene reigned supreme.
And today? Well today the smell of burning dust as my PC runs deep into the night. The infernal machine rests, raising the ambient temperature of the room by 10 deg Fahrenheit.

The smell of old cigarette smoke reminds me of Maplestory and Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. Unused cat litter reminds me of classic games on the N64 and PS1. Burning dust reminds me of Pokemon gen 2. Old dog mixed with fireplace smoke reminds me of playing PS3 with friends. Antibiotic cream reminds me of Fallout 3 and Oblivion. Blankets that have been in the sun reminds me of Roller Coaster Tycoon.

I have never smelled one, thankfully, but I would imagine Durians would remind me of Super Mario Sunshine purely as they are the reason I know what a Durian is.
If this were a "music that reminds you of a game" thread I would say that the first time I ever heard the album Jagged Little Pill by Alanis I was playing Doom at the time. It kinda worked.
Killing demons, listening to angry girl music for probably the first (certainly not the last) time was a pretty good afternoon.
Also when I hear "like the deserts miss the rain" or whatever its called I think of The Summoning (PC) as I played it the summer the song was popular and it played like constantly on the radio.
The Mortal Kombat movie soundtrack got played heavily quite some time after the movie came out and my friends and I played many games to it. Oddly we only played Mortal Kombat like 1 time. Ever. Wasn't that fun.
But Mario Kart 64? Turok? Tetris Attack? Lufia 2? Ahhhhh yeeeeah!

Marzipan reminds me of Mass Effect. For some reason, which I have never experienced with any other game, my PC copy of Mass Effect smells quite strongly of marzipan. I thought I was going mental at first, I had to ask other people to verify it. Which in turn made other people think I was mental.
