Snake's Voice Actor Might Not Return for Ground Zeroes

I love David Hayter, but remember that he kinda fell into the Voice Acting thing, and is actually a writer. He could be busy with other projects, and he is rumored to be working on "Man of Steel" and the "Justice League" movie. Remember, he co-wrote X-Men (the first) and worked with Zack Snyder on Watchmen.

My guess is that he may be very busy with something else and it would be difficult for him to stop and go act. I still think that his MGS4 performance is one the best in any video game, and would be very dissapointed if he did not come back, but I do not think it would be a deal breaker.

A chapter in the bible of gaming history would be closed right there if Hayter left the Metal Gear franchise.

That man and his voice just can not be replaced. I think even if they replaced him and found someone who could do a good job something would always feel a bit "off". Don't think i've ever actually heard a good Snake impression :/

I'd like to think this. I'm a huge Metal Gear fan, if he wasn't returning for money reasons or just not wanting to do it I'd be more unhappy than if he was busy with something else.

I'm pretty sure that Kojima has stated that Snake's 'greying' hair was an illusion caused by the lighting, Ground Zeroes is supposed to take place very shortly after Peace Walker, like in the 1-2 months range, since Big Boss doesn't suffer from the same rapid aging that Solid Snake does his voice suddenly shifting to Richard Doyle's would seem a little off... I would hope that they'd get Doyle to voice BB if Hayter decides to not return for Ground Zeroes though. His is the only other 'canon' voice we have for BB so far that would fit him, albeit kind of roughly.

There are some characters who's voices are simply irreplaceable. If they go along with a new voice for Snake they may as well reboot the franchise because it just won't be the Snake we all know and love. That voice is just too iconic and recognizable to be replaced.

Speaking from experience, are we, Adam? I was about to suggest in the highly unlikely event Hayter's not coming back to MGS, your voice actor could step in, since we need gruff and gravely.

I'd hate to see Hayter leave but if they did have to replace him, I think only Steve Blum could do it.

He was already in MGSortable Ops, where he was Gene, the leader of FOX after Snake/Big Boss left, and the main villain.

Hopefully, he'll be up to something if we don't get him back as Snake. Maybe he can finally get that Black Widow solo movie he wrote and was going to direct off the ground.

I would be sad to see him leave the franchise as he IS the voice of both Solid Snake and Big Boss, however I would still buy a game where someone else voiced snake. I just hope if he does quit that they find a great voice actor who could impersonate the voice well.

David Hayter is the voice of the goodguy Snakes, that's not going to change anytime soon. If it did, I'd be done with the series, perhaps a bit petty but it's still true.

Have you played Peace Walker? I wouldn't call Big Boss a 'good guy' in that game. Especially at y'know...the ending.

I am not saying Hayter knows what Kojima was talking about, but just the idea alone may have spooked him a bit. I don't blame him either, I wouldn't want to sign up for something thinking that I may feel bad being associated with it later (in the worse case scenario).

This works for me, he hasn't exactly been "in the zone" for quite a few games. I'd love for them to dump the whole story and start over. It is such a mess right now, I can't even remotely care about a game trying to build on that train wreck.

As an enormous fan of the Metal Gear franchise, I'd say it wouldn't be the same if somebody else voiced Snake/Big Boss.

But, at the same time, it sure seems like Hayter's performance has been steadily getting worse since MGS1 and 2.

What what what. No. Need Snake's voice. You can't lose voices. You just can't. At least there's nothing concrete about him leaving. But maybe that just makes it worse; the uncertainty, the ever encroaching worry gnawing away at your soul! AHHHHHHHH! I'm sorry I'll calm down. But it would be a loss to the series if they had to replace him.
