This is pretty old news isn't it Funk?

Still cool though, Apple is helping in the war on terror. What do you think of THAT Microsoft? Eh?
I dunno if it's for real, but one of the "Join The Army" adverts over here features a guy flying a UAV. WITH AN XBOX 360 CONTROLLER
Yeah Ive heard this as well, though I dont think its for complete control over the craft just something thats easier to use when fine detail isnt necessary like Flying Patrols or whatnot. I think they use more sophisticated controls when the situation calls for it.

I'm fairly sure they actually do use 360 controllers to fly the UAVs.

I don't think this is what Apple had in mind when they siad "There's an app for everything!"

Also it is just me or are more and more video game technology stuffs being used to aid the military? Xbox 360 controllers, Wii remotes for science and now the IPhone.

whats funny is there are other free apps that do the same thing. Why is the OP worried about some one buying a physics calculator it doesn't come with a gun or the skill to hit use one.

Thats odd, I'm pretty sure the US military actually has a thing that does that a lot better.
Cost cutting I suppose.
What he said, it's called a wind meter (among other things) and a vector range finder.

I'm sure this thing works, but I doubt anyone uses it other than joking around.

What ISN'T there an App for?
Herpes?

OT: Apple should make that app private to military personal. If terrorists start to use it...assassins against the presidents of major nations.....pretty much walks you though on what shot will kill....need I say more?

Just got the App (although I don't really know what to do with it; but I do want to become a Marine Scout Sniper). Actually there is a sniper rifle out there with a computer that calculates all these factors: the CheyTac Intervention M200 (Yup! That good ol' thing from Modern Warfare 2).
Anyways, enjoy your New Years everyone!

Do u really think terrorists are smart enough to understand that thing? It's f***ing complicated and only works for a handful of guns.

Pretty sure there are already devices made for that job which are waterproof/sand proof/dust proof/shock proof.

I wouldn't want to rely on a touch screen smart phone then have it run out of battery at the worst time.

God, it was so obvious, make a freely programmable mobile device with lost of hardware features and it will just be used for everything. of course everyone so far missed the crucial step, market it hard so that all the know-nothing douches will buy it and make it so popular that even the dumb-ass backwards governments and corporations couldn't ignore the usefulness of such a device.

good work apple, while anyone could have created such an obvious device, only you could marketed it so well.

Goddamn. I was wrong. I'll admit it, it is useful.

When snipers use it, the rest of you should simplify your life.
