I have the ability to now and have a site I can go to but I've just lost interest. Then again I lose interest in many things when I get in a depression. Anyway the problem before was that many of the sites require things like Adobe and I have an Ipod Touch 3rd Gen so it was impossible for me to watch anything but YouTube. Posting on this site was difficult too.

What site is it you (would) use? I'm always looking to expand my list of streaming sites.

Gogoanime is always a good one and AnimeFreak.TV is also good. The one I mainly watched that had everything and was amazing was AnimeTomb, but I think the government got to them. They had every single Shakugan no Shana series and a bunch of other really obscure ones. Another awesome part about it was that for the movies they were split into parts and you could have them all buffer at the same time for the best results. They also didn't have many ads everywhere like how GoGoAnime does.

Naruto is probably better than most of those you listed. Especially when Elfin Lied amazed me with it's terrible writing and characterisations.

There's no way a 300+ shounen show about ninjas is better than Nichijou, School Rumble or FLCL. Absolutely no way.

Personally I loved it, and subsequently played the VN multiple times and watched the 2002 adaptation too. The 2002 version had a much more satisfying ending, but the art by KyoAni and VA talent brought in was much improved.


People will hate me for saying this, but personally I thought Air was much worse than Kanon. The ending annoyed me so much with its little twist I remember shouting "OH FUCK THAT" and storming off.

I just mentioned that in the link you posted that you marked Kanon as the worst, yet you marked it as watched. For a big 24 ep show, unless it was the ending that made me dislike it, I would have probably stopped watching.

While I have enjoyed some anime I do not like anime in general. It think it has most to do with the stereotypical tropes that occur. I have been watching Jormungand which seems to avoid them quite well (so far) but most suffer from (in varying degrees)

Terrible methods of exposition.
Extended 'staredowns'.
Sideline commentary/internal monologues during combat when intervention is easily possible.
Repetition of an individual's name to express concern or affection.
Women overreacting and being violent towards men for comedic effect.
Liberal use of deus ex machina.
Bi-polar characters swinging between pragmatism and emotional reactions.

I could go on but those are the 7 deadly sins of Anime in my opinion. The worst thing is how many of them happen at the exact same time.

The greatest shame is they are capable of embracing very interesting ideas and concepts but the former "sins" cause the characters to react in ways that just make no sense given the context.

Yeah, it's pretty overrated but I'm sure I'd love it to bits if I watched it another time and paid close attention to the dialogue. The wikipedia article says some crazy shit that I totally missed.

Regardless, I'm absolutely sure it has miles on top of Naruto.

I have to say, I saw one episode on TV and thought it was pretty average, a big fight scene that dragged on with a terrible english dub. Then I saw another episode when I went to a friends place, and it is a lot better in Japanese and that episode was a lot more interesting. Also, for some reason that particular episode had improved animation as well.

I can't say much about Naruto but I'm gonna go through it soon.

im usually too busy playing games (currenlty umineko) i heard the anime for that was utter tripe, so yeah.

but sometimes i do, the last one i remember watching to completion that was actually good and not a gag anime or a destruction of a perfectly good game, was angel beats. Could never really get into the longer lasting shows, i just cant be bothered starting them as you know you would have to catch up on the whole mythos to enjoy them and that's just a pain.
