They probably found him because of all of his personal information being stolen from the PSN hack.

This isn't a case of 'Cut off the head and the body will die.' What about the real face of al-Qaeda, Zawahiri?

I doubt we're going to pull out of the conflict. The organization still exists. While it may be weaker and it may splinter a bit with succession disagreements or something of the sort the fight is going to continue.

Now they are going to take all the oil. Come on guys, It's america we are talking about here
There is no oil in Pakistan/ Afghanistan and personally I wish they did take the oil if it was there. 5 dollars a gallon is friggen ridiculous I would welcome a good ol imperialistic war for resources, at least it will be more definite than what we have atm.

When we find him he will suffer the same fate or hopefully capture.

I laughed. I lose.

But yeah, as a Brit I don't really care that much. Kind of figured he was already dead some years ago but no one found out or it was a conspiracy. See? Even my reasoning for not caring is half arsed. Plus what's to prove it wasn't a body double?

If I thought it brought us any closer to world peace, I'd smile. But the people who strap themselves to bombs probably don't need a hearty pat on the back from Osama to 'get them in the mood' anyway.

I think it was unnecessary, to shoot at him 41 times while he was on his deathbed, while going into lybia where American are not allowed to go, the taking his body back for a "Demonstration" and they are dumb enough to allow Osamas son fly to The USA to have a Meeting with the president. I mean if someone killed my dad like that then took him away id be getting serious revenge. but then again America has pretty much been asking to get invaded/go to war.
Well of course, they can't afford not being in a war, the economy depends on permanent fighting.Every G.I. going in some forsaken place killing brown people without really knowing why and getting shot now and then saves dozens of jobs in the USA.

There is, like you said, no head of the body at all. The peeps over there in the Colonies should start to understand that they aren't fighting WW2 anymore. Its not a single crazed Dictator holding a country together, that would fall if he wasnt anymore. Terrorism isnt a state, its not a single entity or even group. Its an ideology that blooms and blossoms everytime and everywhere someone can be convinced of their ideas.
Even if they shoot the complete higher staff of A.Q. It will be only mere weeks until somewhere else someone decides to take over their fight. May it be in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran,Indonesia Sweden or Riverside Iowa. There are enough crazed western whiteboys in their ranks now.

The famous German Terrorists of the Red Army Faction werent stopped by imprisoning or shooting about all of their members either. There have been a lot of followers taking up their buisness until it finally was over. And that thing was way smaller in scale, way smaller. Multiply it up to compare it with this global event and you will have Decades of Fun hunting in Rabbitholes. Killing of one unimportant symbol after the other.

Darn it, I was going to do that.

Anyway, back on topic: Al Qaeda didn't really take orders from Bin Laden anyway, he was just a figurehead who was hiding somewhere in Pakistan 35 kilometres from Whateverville.
They're practically just a bunch of terror cells from what I understand, and the only reason these umpteen terror cells are affiliated with Osama Bin Laden is because they blow something up, whereafter they go "Oh hey, we're the Al Qaeda, we did this!".

So I daresay not much will change. Some tossers will still go about blowing shit up in the name of Al Qaeda, except now they will also say it's to avenge Osama.

Seriously? how many of you don't get that this changes nothing? Terrorist cells act independently, and bin laden was broke and hiding in a cave there's not much he could do in terms of leadership.

Theres one less nut job in the world and thousands more willing to step into his place >.<. Try not to get your hopes up about pulling out of Afghanistan were still fighting the Taliban remember.

I'm actually more interested in the fallout that this could have with Pakistan. It does sound like they were possibly sheltering him...

This is one of those things where even though the head of the snake is gone, The snake isn't dead yet.

It will either struggle for quite sometime, grow a new head and keep going, or (worst case) grow a bunch more heads and be a bigger problem than before.

While I'm relived that Osama has been taken down (I'm not up and down jumping for joy, more like a relieved "we got em") The limbo that is going to come is what I'm worried about.

This means nothing, he was like a cult leader. There will be somebody to take his place, except instead of knowing what he looks like we can only guess at who it might be.

I mean if I remember right, he was on all kind of medicines and expected to die soon anyway, so it's not like they hadn't thought about it before now.

I think it will just make them attack harder for killing him, instead of letting him die.

Osama hasn't been their leader for years. He was just a symbol. Their moral may be down but the organisations will still work like they used to work until now.
Now the terrorists will probably retaliate.
