So the Playstation Move launch has come and gone. I didn't even realize it was out until today, in fact. Did anyone actually buy it? How is it? In your opinion, are its games good?

I would make a "It's shaped like a dick" joke but those are getting old.
From what I heard it was better than the Wii (not saying much).

No.

I'm past the motion control phase. I extinguished it with the Wii I purchased, that I no longer play (at all). I understand the Move is much more advanced and precise compared to the Wii, but I have no interest in it at this time.

Aside from the fact that there are no games, and no games planned for it that I'm interested in.. I'm just not that into it.

Though if I had to choose between Kinect and Move, it would have to be Move. The utterly ridiculous nonsense that is Kinect, with no buttons is just hilarious. Anyone remember the article about Sony making fun of Microsoft for being so dependent on first-person shooters for it's 360? Yeah, and it's mostly true, so I find it ridiculous that they went the 'no buttons' route, making it impossible to play a FPS with any quality. Or for that matter, use gas/brake in a racing game... *snicker*.

Maybe in a few years, I'll see where it's at, but I'm fine with buttons.

No, I already own a Wii. I got to use one though and I was unimpressed. It was the sword fighting mini game that comes packaged with it and it played like a first gen Wii game. Exactly the same.

but d00d, u cud tlly mime holdin a gun 2 ply a fps!!1

That hurt me more than it did you.

Also, "NO GAMES" tends to be a trend with sony. But something proven a long, long time ago, is no matter how many games you make for a peripheral, the fact there are two barriers for entry (the console and the controller) undermines potential marketshare. If, instead of completely repackaging the gamecube to make the wii, nintendo had tried to just release a motion controller for the gamecube, they'd be in a grave next to SEGA right about now.

As far as it being shaped like a penis... what the fuck penises have you people been looking at?

The only interest I have in the move is how well the "hardcore" titles are gonna do on it. Mostly socom4. Even though no one ever wants a game to be bad. There are few things in life I enjoy more than a good "I told you so". This failing would be a giant rallying cry for the hardcore motion controls suck crowd.

There's no games out for the Move at launch that any respectable gamer would actually want. I've reserving my criticisms of Move until some core titles are released, like SOCOM, and Killzone 3 (and isn't twisted metal supposed to be move enabled?) until I decide whether or not the Move is worth my time (big guess right now is a resounding "no" though).
There are a few who got move compatible upgrades. Tiger 11, heavy rain Resident evil 5. Those are sadly enough as close as we're gonna get for a short while on real games.

I actually just got mine in the mail. The sword fighting game people are talking about is the gladiator game that's included in the bundle Sports Champions, which now comes in free with the move, I think.

Now, what I'm about to say will totally destroy any lingering gamer cred I have, but I actually had a good time with these little games. Are they perfect, or even deep? not really. But I get the distinct feelin that's hardly the point.

Anyway, here are the list of mini-games that came with Sports Champions
Golf
Archery
Gladiator
Frisbee
Volleyball
Ping Pong

I've only tried the archery, ping pong and the gladiator games.

They were all actually kind of fun in a sort of "I need to just do something" kind of way.

the gladiator game, which I initially thought would be the breakout title of the group, was not nearly as strong as I thought. It's mostly because I felt the fighting was a little too shallow due to the fact that I could only fight against the AI, and I was able to plow through the entire game with a single loss on my record. Maybe the multiplayer will prove to be more interesting, but I'm not holding my breath.

Archery was very straight forward. You draw with the move remote, and aim with it. If you have the two hand peripheral, the motions become a lot more intuitive. It's a fun diversion, but nothing too earth shattering.

ping pong so far has proved quite challenging. I'm not sure if it's a calibration issue but I feel the racket is not really reacting in a way that feels natural. maybe it's because my relative position is not being captured as well by the camera or maybe I'm not calibrating the camera right, but the response time feels off on the racket.

Over all though, I'd say it's about the same as the Wii in that regard. I would like to see some games that has a bit more depth though.

I didn't, I won't in the near future, and I probably never will.

Reason the first: I don't have any money.
Reason the second: I don't have a PS3 (though I really want one).
Reason the third: I didn't really like it when the Wii did it either.

Three pretty big reasons.

MAG will be updated to support Move in the next few weeks, Im kinda curious to see how that goes along with other proper games like SOCOM or killzone. Might get a Move eventually, could be a laugh.

i never liked the whole motion control thing. i thought it was interesting when i heard about the wii, then i saw it in action and instantly hated it. i hear its very accurate but this doesnt change the fact that i think the motion control thing is a lame gimmick. besides, have you seen the ps move games? yea, no thank you

I got it and its awesome, its crazy how accurate it is and its much better than the wii (but thats like saying its better than a dog turd). I mainly got it because I was at the DC move event and really enjoyed it and was impressed with the technology behind it. If you were excited for the wii then let down because all you do is waggle the controller at the tv, then the move is probably what you were hoping for.

People are saying that there aren't a lot of games but Sports Champions is a lot of fun and really shows off how ridiculously accurate the move is, and there seems to be a fairly regular stream of games for the foreseeable future (MAG, Time Crisis, KZ3, Sly collection, Socom 4, Sorcery and so on) and there are a couple more Move specific games like Start the Party, the shoot and the fight. Also echochrome ii is amazing (at least from the demos I played)

Buying it now is like buying any videogame system or add on at its launch, there's some fun things for it now, but you're getting it more for the promise of future content, so the "there's no games" argument is just silly. Overall I'd say its not going to take over PS3 gaming but its going to be a lot of fun times.

I picked it up. You can immediately tell how more responsive it is in comparison to the Wiimote. The fact that you can point it around the room and it still works is immediately apparent when playing sports games. My brother and I had a killer time playing the Gladiator Duel on Sports' Champions, but as a side note, to get the full experience in that, you would need four Move controllers(one for each hand per person). At the moment, that's a little pricey for me.

Not to sound like a 5-year-old, but the demo for the Eyepet was probably one of the coolest things I've seen come out of any release for anything. You got to draw the components of a plane on the screen (any shape you like), and the Eyepet created a plane out of it that he could fly about in. You can imagine after a few beers how this creative outlet was abused. Good times were had by all.

Time Crisis demo was aight. Nothing too surprising for a rail shooter.

That's all I've really gotten around to trying as of yet.

Just a quick question for you guys, did you guys experience any fuzziness in terms of the motion controls? When I was playing the gladiator duel game, there were times where I would do a swing, and then the character would just sort of fidget and not do anything. There are times I do just fine and I get fantastic accuracy, and then suddenly go into a slump where I can't seem to get a full swing out.

I suspect it might have something to do with the way the camera was set up, since I tend to shift a little bit too much back and forth during game play. But truth be told, I think it's kind of unreasonable to expect me to NOT step back and forth from the camera. So... trying to figure out what I can do remedy that.

I have my camera sitting in front of the TV right below the center, but I'm wondering if mounting it would make it more accurate.

oh yea, another thing. Do not play the game in just your underwear. I ALMOST had my camera take a pic of me in my underwear and then posting that photo on my facebook.
