The oldest game I have a physical copy of and can play? Probably the original Sonic the Hedgehog.
The oldest game I still have just a physical copy of alltogether? the original Boulder Dash on the Commodore 64.

Both of these games predate my birth >.>
Though I was playing Sonic only 3 years after release at the age of 2 ;)

Super Mario Bros. 3. I got a NES with SMB3 for 6th birthday, I'm currently 26.
That game is the reason that I love games.

My black Atari 2600 with about 10 games including pac man, missle command, space invaders, donkey kong, defender, etc. It isn't working at the moment but I hope to fix it.

I have an original cartridge for E.T. The Extra Terrestrial for the Atari. That was released in 1982. I also have a legitimate hard copy of M.U.L.E. released in 1983. It still has it's own sleeve too.

I've got a bunch of N64 games. I'm not sure how old they all are, but I think some of them are pretty early stuff. I also have some old Game Boy games, but I'm not sure how they compare to the N64 games.

But I don't think it's rare at all for a console gamer to have physical copies of old games. Are far more expensive to do digital games on console than PC, so most people still go for a physical copy if possible. That is of course assuming that they actually keep their old games.

Oldest is probably collumns on the sega megadrive. What is that 88, 89 maybe?
I also have a gameboy copy of tetris floating about somewhere but again I'm not sure exactly how old that is.

For me it would have to be a golf game "Golf". It came on 6 floppy discs, very hard copy I must say.

X-Com Collection for the PC. All Games from the first up to that X-Com Interceptor space ship combat thingy game (which I didn't get quite into) AND X-Com Em@il, which is... weak, to say the least, but it's got hotseat.

Needless to say I bought it for the first three games of the series.

From memory it's Super Mario Bros for the NES, released in 1985, but I believe I got my NES in 1990. However a console still working, played this year, after 21 years, is impressive. However the last game I actually played on it was Gargoyle's Quest 2. I still think that if we had more Firebrand, the world would be a better place.

My oldest game in general would be "It came from the desert" for DOS from 1989. Although I bought it a lot later. The oldest game that I bought at the time it came out and still have is "Leander" for the Amiga 500 from 1991.

I have like 2 Atari games.
About 50+ Sega Megadrive games. And 3 Sega megadrives.
DnD on FLOPPY DISKS. Including code wheels. (I should go find that some day, it's somewhere in my house)

I assume either the Atari games or the DND are the oldest. Who knows.

I have a version of the original Pong engineered to connect to TVs through RF. Granted, that's not exactly an original release or anything, it's just an electrical engineering project built in the early 70s. (decades after it actually was invented) I've got some odyssey 2 games lying around somewhere in a box, though.

I have an original release scrabble board and an original release monopoly set for earliest games someone might actually recognize.

I have a set of notched coins (dated as 1600s) and a leather mat used for playing rogue's gambit (one of a billion names for a port-of-call gambling game introduced in the 1400s around Europe) and a whale-bone Mancala board from the 1800s.

I've got a very old Cathedrals set that is so fragile I don't care to have it dated, but it can't be more than 200 years old.

Hm hm.. Physical you say?

Well i still have Nintendo Golf cartridge for GameBoy. I think it came out in 89' or so. Everything older i once had is gone (WHERE???) and i am just running emulators and such for my fix.

Oldest for PC... hm, i threw away all my floppies and disks. So something on CD, don't want to rummage through it, though.

personally it's StarTropics; we have NES games that are for everyone, several of those are older
for PC it would the Doom Ultimate Collector's Edition (or however the grandiose title is phrased), which I want to say is from 1998, and which I bought about 3 years ago
to take the question a different way: chess-- I own some chess boards and pieces, and the game is thought to be as much as 2400 years old
