I'm rapidly running out of games. I've finished pretty much everything I own now, and so I'm looking for suggestions. I love JRPGs, dislike 1st person games, LOVE steampunk. Other than that, pretty much everything is a go. On top of this, I was looking at White Knight Chronicles for a while, but every review has said the same thing; badly told story, flawed gameplay, sucky battle system. This sucks, if true; firstly, is it? Secondly, since the idea that really brought me to it was the character creator and the JRPGness, is there another game out there like it? With an extensive (and GOOD) character creator, and a main game that is long enough to keep me occupied? I mean, come on; there's only so many times I can play Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires before I get bored.

EDIT: Also, no 18s, please. I'm 17, and my mum still freaked the fuck out when my dad got me Dead Space.

You could play FF13...

It's linear as hell with no character customization at all...

But it's also a solid 60 hours of gameplay with a great story, beautiful visuals and a combat system better than 12s.

Edit: God damn it ninja'd ¬_¬

Littlebig Planet and inFAMOUS. They're not in the genre you're looking for, but I promise you they are both too good to pass up if you have the console for them.

If I could recommend a JRPG for you, I would say try eternal sonata, you're probably gunna have to pick it up used though. As for white knight, it wasn't really that great, had a pretty interesting online component, but i'd say rent it if you can first.

I'm not a big JRPG guy, but besides that here is a list of good PS3 games.

-Ratchet and Clank (2 games in the series are for the PS3)
-Blaz Blue
-3D dot game heroes

Definitely check out Play Station Network titles.

Demon's Souls is one of the best games you'll ever play, and it is a PS3 exclusive

Disgaea 3 might be worth a shot. When you turn 18 check out God of War 3. Infamous is another good option. The Ratchet and Clank games although targeted at a younger audience are lots of fun, worth a rent if not a purchase. If you are into 2D fighters take a look at Blazblue: Continuum Shift and/or Super Street Fighter IV. Ninja Gaiden Sigma/Sigma 2 are great brawlers.

Final Fantasy XIII. I'm going to get flamed for that but it's a genuinely great game in my opinion. It doesn't have a character creator, but it's a really good JRPG. Also, Demon's Souls if you don't mind getting your teeth kicked out by a brutal difficulty level.
NOOOOOO don't be fooled like I was. You can put a 'J' in front of it but it isn't an RPG. RPG's have chracter customization etc..

I second Demons Soul. Then theres InFmous, MGS4, LGP, GT5 is coming in November, Killzone 2 (hard to master) other people will mention the rest.

Seen plenty of good games listed so far, I'll just add Katamari Forever to the list.

Also, if you're quite a sociable person (or live in a dorm or something), your choice is very simple: SINGSTAR. Seriously. Last semester we were playing Singstar 'till 3-4 AM nearly every night. And if we weren't, just Soul Calibur (2, yay for backwards compatible PS3's, but 4 is good as well ofc) or Buzz (the quiz game).
