I played the trial, got bored after i hit lv 14. Personally I would have rather had them make Warcraft 4 >__>

if the goblins made something like that it would be a pod you get into then press a button to trigger an explosion behind you to shoot you into another city. like a cannon but differently shaped probably

Edit. still kind of a noob meant to quote maddawg

i do hope they make a warcraft 4 once everyone flocks to SWTOR. since people who quit that probably wont want to play wow again and try something else because when it comes down to it, wow has always been the same thing. more and more and better and slightly better but still the same. and people will see this hopefully and wow will be reduced to a slighly larger than everquest population.

I made my Orc Warrior today, and got him up to level 8. Again, super fun, especially compared to the power leveling with the shaman. That's growing to be kind of wearisome - I'm hoping it'll pay off when I can finally start to go on raids with my sister and brother-in-law's mains. I'm a little worried that it's going to be overwhelming - I've basically gone from level 10 to 35 (going on 60) without really playing and learning all of my new abilities. I guess we'll see when the time comes :/

Played it a lot before, right now just waiting for Cataclysm (and frankly The Old Republic), just raiding with the guild as I don't wanna bail on them (and it's still a bit of fun with a couple of good online friends).

WotLK kinda sucks, but if you just started I doubt you'll notice it, you'll have plenty of fun just hanging out with your sis and leveling, even if you reach 80 and get a bit bored (which again, is unlikely since you're new and Cata's not that far off), you'll still have plenty of classes to level out and mess around with. I'd suggest trying out both Alliance and Horde btw, the leveling is quite different and makes for a more enjoyable experience the second/third/Nth time around.

I prefer Alliance for the races (though not by far), but like the Tauren/female Blood Elves, so both sides are cool really.

I used to play WOW for a while. It was a really fun game... for a while. I was a Tauren warrior at LV. 45 when I stopped playing though. It was too annoying having to constantly repair my armor, so I end up never having enough for a mount. Also the game eventually felt more and more like a job, trying to keep up with my friends in levels, and trying to organize groups for dungeons.

Eventually, I just went to the Tauren city, (forgot what it was called) donated all my gold to the guild I was in, left it, took off all of my armor, stood in front of a cliff and yelled: "GOODBYE, WORLD OF WARCRAFT!" and jumped to my doom.

I never played it since...

Hmmm Still play, Aquanei of Emerald Dream EU... I'm into the end game raiding but it's a bit slow right now. I have a character on both sides. But I play my paladin exclusively on the horde side when raiding.

It's nice having a group of reliable friends. Makes the game just so much more fun. I can imagine hating it if I had to play alone.

I choose to ignore the fact that I had to be blood elf to be a paladin. Lets just call it Weighing the pros and the cons and say I made sacrifices.

I played WoW for a bit...I got in the 30s or 40s (Dwarf Hunter) and got bored. Its addicting for a while, and a good game, but honestly I have better things to do than rot in an online game such as that.

I have played as an undead Warlock for the past six years.

I really can't quit, as I've finally managed to finagle a job with Blizzard, meaning part of my job description entails "continuing to play World of Warcraft."

I've reached some level of nerdvana in my life.

My sister and her husband are huge World of Warcraft fans, it's practically all they do in their free time. After bugging me for so long to start playing with them, I finally made a character today and worked on some levels.

It's quite a lot of fun, I can definitely see how people really get into it and get addicted. Especially when you have friends to play with. I tried Champions Online a couple months ago, but just played by myself. Not so great. You really need others to play with for an MMO. Luckily, my sister had a level 1 character she could play on with me. Now we're both level 7 after one session (I'm a troll shaman, she's a hunter). Good times.

So, who else plays WoW? Are you or were you addicted? Do you have friends you play with or do you go solo? And, uh... I guess, Alliance or Horde (no flamewars plz)?
i would say neither, because its crack, but if you have to, horde is the way to go, sense you still early enough in the game to restart and not lose any time. shaman is kinda hard if you ask me, but its still fun.

Can't play WoW anymore since most players are too terrible to get through the simplest of raids, and raids were really boring after Ulduar to begin with.

I play it with my wife, we have a great time. I tank for PCG, the official guild linked to the magazine PC Gamer uk.

And this, as well. Gratz!

Btw, in case any of you are on the same one, I play on the Venture Co. server. My shaman is named Korbaku, and my warrior is Krobesh. My brother-in-law is actually the leader of the Bloodletter Clan, if you've ever heard of them.

In December an old friend of mine I had recently reconnected with told me that she plays WoW in her free time. She asked me to give the trial a shot, so I did. I admit to having a prejudice against the game before trying it. I think someone drilled the idea into my head that Blizzard had gone downhill since the 90's. I spent some time with the Warcraft RTS games and far more time with StarCraft, so I let myself try it.

Now I play WoW on and off. I only recently reached level 61. I enjoy it but I can't say I'm addicted. It's a slower paced fun compared to the games I normally play, especially Blizzard's RTS titles.

I was addicted for a short time, a few years ago, but since then I've become a casual WoW player.

I'm a 72 Human Pally (I made him before BC. Can you believe how slow I level?) on a... PvP server.

I have a few friends I met via WoW, that I play with on occasion, but mostly I go solo.

Mainly because everyone on my server is a colossal idiot, or colossal asshole.

Ah, good times.

I play both Horde and Alliance on the PvP realm Thaurissan. =3

While I always preferred solo-play, or teaming up with a friend, instances are by far my favored way to play the game. o_O
Even if you do come across plenty of morons...

One piece of shaman advice though.
Totems are win, use them. =3

This, but I have a feeling you get that on every server. =(

Oh God, I can't imagine people who play WoW by themselves. I just couldn't do it without my IRL friends with which I always play. Especially when you have to level up, it's so much easier and more fun to do it with friends.

You can have an extremely good time when you play and chat over vent or skype with your friends, I know I have a ton of fun memories.

So yeah good luck to you man, as long as you have your sister and her husband to play with, I think you won't get bored of WoW, at least not any time soon. :)

Well 2 things are stopping me from playing it: the huge amounts of grind and the fact that it's notoriously addictive. I've a pretty addictive personality, so I think it'd ruin my social life if I ended up enjoying it. Lose-lose situation.
I think that this can be a bit of a myth - I played Warcraft extensively (my acct is still active but I'm uninterested in it at the moment) and I routinely get bored of it. I enjoy the game, but there was nothing especially addictive about it. I got more hooked on pokemon when I was younger. I actually played Warcraft because it was one of the few games I have that runs in a window nicely, allowing me to continue to MSN between encounters, surf sites, etc. It was a nice 'idling' experience. I can see how people who plunge into the guild heavy endgame side get hooked, but what I've seen says that it's less an addiction and more a perceived obligation. Friends in the guild, turning up to talk to them, raid with them, etc.

I did a free trial. I played about three days every evening and then I got bored, I think I was like level 11.
