Ehh...the ending was alright...much like the rest of the story. Don't get me wrong, the game is great, but the actual plot is a bit by-the-numbers, and the ending was basically the INCREDIBLY SINISTER OUTSIDER WHO'S MOTIVATIONS WERE NEVER REVEALED saying "Yeah, everything's great. Plague's cured. No, we're not going to tell you how."

I was convinced that the Outsider was going to give you some kind of punishment in the end depending on how many people you killed, and you only get off scot free with a pacifist run. I think that would have been a lot more interesting. As it stands, the Outsider is little more than an observer to the situation.

I thought that was kind of the point. I mean, his name -is- The Outsider. In any case, he does say near the beginning that how you use the powers is up to you, and he would be watching with great interest.

The Outsider in general seems like a really cool concept, and I would've liked it if they explored it more. As it is, he seems like the devil figure (According to the Abbey), but there's no established god. So, it's one of -those- settings.

OT: I got the high chaos ending first time through, and it wasn't exactly pleasant, but it's what I expected from killing so many people. Not dissatisfying, mind you, just dark.

I would of been disappointed if the outsider had turned into an enemy I liked him as just a watcher. Could of done with some expansion, maybe some missions after the end of you protecting the peace or doing something towards a cure.

Abit off topic but is Corvo the girls father it's referanced that he might be a few times but i'm not sure if it is ever confirmed.

It doesn't get confirmed, just hinted at.

I have a feeling it may get looked into a bit deeper in DLC or any sequels that come out.

As far as I can tell it's heavily implied he is but no one out right says it except maybe in a picture Emily draws of you where it says daddy, so either you're a father figure or literally her father.

Personally I'm gonna let the story slide because I see this game more as a world builder, now that we have a world that we know and love we can explore more deeply in sequels and such.

I got the low chaos ending which was nice, the plot wasn't anything special just competent. I really enjoyed the gameplay and after i finished i definitely had the feeling to go back and get the high chaos ending and inventively kill my targets as i did all the non-lethal takedowns (including daud didn't even put him to sleep) except the optional at the Lighthouse. I rather enjoyed the random locations of the outsider shrines and the small monologues he gives when you find them.

I finished it today with low chaos as well and the ending was..decent to say the least.A bit lackluster however.I didn't expect to get the ending scene so easily, kinda took me off guard.

I am glad that now I can go full on violence for a high chaos count on my second playthrough.

I played through the game twice already. First time stealthily, but killing pretty much everyone who got in my way and ended up with high chaos. And second time without killing anyone.

The game actually changes quite a bit near the end depending on if you got high or low chaos rating. Not the story obviously, but especially in the last level the environment looks very different and the major characters also act differently. With high chaos, it really feels more chaotic and desperate, and more like the last level of a game, I think.

Just for that I'd suggest going for another playthrough.

He is the Outsider. He is outside this stuff. He watches, amuses himself, toys with people, then moves on.

If we had any lasting interest in the usual creepy stuff (conquering the world), the would not be the outsider anymore. He would be the devil. Which he is not.

What question? I don't see any.

The question is derived from the what i guess

OT:Did 2 game runs 1st low chaos 2nd high chaos(Rambo style) but i didnt notice any rise in the difficulty despite the game suggesting that high chaos is harder also did choose 1 difficulty up for the 2nd run.
About the different endings the high chaos story is told ingame not as much as at the ending cinematic

Just finished, with two questions.
1. Did anyone else decide to
make Havelock walk off that high point in the lighthouse?

2.
What's with the whale oil socket in the lighthouse? You can't get an oil flask in the area, and you can't go back down - is it just if you happen to bring one with you? And can you turn on the light if you do?

I finished Dishonored yesterday.
I was playing as a sort of nice guy but stabbed pretty much every guard and target to death. I think the chaos system could have been much better, the last two missions people who were my friends through the entire game start calling me evil and all that jazz, Emily starts thinking she should be a ruthless empress for some reason. It just came out of the blue.

I liked how the Outsider stays a mistery throughout the game, inciting events for his own amusement. He gives Corvo his mark and powers essentially for the lulz, he wants to see what happens. He sees that Corvo is in a position to play an important role in major events and he gives him a slight nudge (in the form of teleportation, time stopping, telekinetics, vermin conjuration, etc.), just as he gave slight nudges to many other people (the other assassins). Corvo simply ends up exceeding expectations, actually making something happen instead of becoming just another killer for hire like most of the others bearing the mark.

In general, I liked the ending (low chaos) and the story in general. It was by the numbers, but it was a solid by the numbers plot and served to present the game's world, which was the real star in my opinion. A somewhat formulaic plot isn't always a bad thing since it lets you focus on how the story was told and the various elements making it up instead of the events of the story being the main focus.

Just finished it. Disappointed I can't carry my powers across to the new game, on the whole though I think the amount of options for the player to go through the levels is almost insane.

Regarding the Outsider, I echo the gman statement, revealing the truth would be disappointing and I think in some ways he does explain his motives really.

I do feel that a couple of my actions never really got tied up, like Slackjaw at the end or what you do with Drud (?) Apart from that it's an amazing game I can feel Viktor's influence and suits really well with the game itself.
