So I guess I completely finished writing my book today.

Holy monkey nut balls. 195 is HUGE. I guarantee you that you can trim it down to 110 if you tried. Some people like massive books, but 195 is like 900 printed pages in a hardcover. If you ever wanted to get it published traditionally, you would have to cut it down drastically. Most first time readers of an author simply aren't willing to put that amount of commitment into a book. Hell, even guys like Patterson and Clancy (God rest his soul) couldn't get away with that. lol
If it's any consolation, my first draft was 240k but I knew most of that was going to disappear in the editing process.

Heh... the first draft was 300k... >_> and because of the size of the cast (despite it being narrated), couldn't cut it down much further without making it a complete sieve, plothole-wise.

Anyway, I never intended to go to a publisher with it. It was always going to be self-published... 'cos my therapist suggested I do it... so I did it... and here I am with a half-finished part 2... -_-

I've been working on it for nearly 10 years. It's gone through draft after draft and re-write after re-write. I've been working on it quite a bit since it's been winter break and I came to the realization today that I am done. The things I am changing are wording in sentences and miniscule stuff like that.
I printed it and am going to send it to my literary advisor tomorrow who has been after me to finish it for some time now. If all goes well, that will be the draft that gets to an agent.

I feel... accomplished. I've been working on it for so long and it's been a part of me for so long that now being done with it is weird. But I'm also extremely excited and hopeful that it will become huge.

Anyway, I just needed to tell people that. lol. No one in my real life really cares that much because they've been hearing about it for so long they are desensitized to it. ha.

So for discussion value, have you ever written a book? Or if not, accomplished something similar? How did you feel?

I've been writing off and on since grade school. Usually about things that have happened to me, or such. Interesting little life stories. Also, I've been writing a novel based on a fantasy world I came up with back when I was trying to create my own video game, something I have no patience to do on my own.

It's a shame my muse seems to be powered by depression, which sort of acts as an anti-muse as well...

I am presently writing a science fiction novel. Writing does get into your blood and you really do start thinking about it all the time when you're going through it. I hope it doesn't take 10 years to get this one out of my head and onto the page but everyone's process is different and this will have been the first full length novel I've written since Middle School.[footnote]An abomination I have just barely restrained myself from burning because it is so terrible. Keeping it as a milestone I guess.[/footnote]

I write (and draw) but haven't finished anything as such, usually because I feel that I want to turn what I have into a graphic novel or two, than a just a novel. I enjoy writing of words and forming or craft. The ideas for good tales keep coming to me I jot them down for later work on them. I'm always working on something.

Distractions I tend to embrace than ignore, because absolutely anything can bring good ideas for tales my way.

Congrats on finishing your book, anyway. You should look into getting into Kindle etc, as self publishing is the best way to go these days, than waiting around for publishers to reject and possibly destroy your work.
