This is absolutely fantastic advise. My partner used to go through the same stage of rage, it got to the point where we would fight because of this rage over video games, so obviously, when it gets to the stage where it is physically affecting something like a relationship, it needs dealing with, I just really hope it doesn't leak like that for you.Scobie said:I've had this problem for a long time, and the only solution I've ever found is to stop playing. Seriously, stop playing as soon as you can when you feel yourself getting frustrated. Remember that you play games to have fun, and if you're not having fun then it really is a complete waste of time. Once you get annoyed everything that goes wrong is going to piss you off even more, and when you're doing something designed to challenge you that's a bad state to be in. On top of that, being angry will cause you to make stupid mistakes and thus get more angry. So take a break and go and do something else until you feel better. It's the only way. In fact, that's what I've just done. I was getting frustrated with EU3, to the point of yelling at the screen, so I switched it off and decided to browse the Internet instead - and hence, here I am, offering my wisdom to you. Much more productive.
Also, if it's particular game that's pissing you off, consider that that game might be the problem. It might just not be a very good game, in which case it would be advisable to stop playing it permanently.
Uh.. Woah there. I'm always a really calm person; for instance, as I type this, I'm raging, and what am I doing? Casually eating my dinner.MurderousToaster said:Just as a reference point: I've broken two controllers, a keyboard and my current keyboard's missing a few keys.
MurderousToaster said:As the title might indicate, I have a serious issue with getting angry while gaming. While this might seem a bit general, I can trace it directly back to Modern Warfare 2. That's all I'm going to say about that game, because I bet the majority of you just sighed with a kind of "Oh god, not that game again" type of sadness.
Anyway, frustration levels rose after my experiences with it, and due to that it's transferred to other games. I now find Team Fortress 2, Halo and other such normally non-frustrating games rage-inducing.
Has anyone got any tips as to how to reduce anger levels? I mean, there's no instant rage-reducing solution, but if anyone has any type of advice it would be appreciated. Raging at the game makes me play worse and as a result rage harder, which in turn makes me play even worse, etc.
Just as a reference point: I've broken two controllers, a keyboard and my current keyboard's missing a few keys.
