I've had this problem for a long time, and the only solution I've ever found is to stop playing. Seriously, stop playing as soon as you can when you feel yourself getting frustrated. Remember that you play games to have fun, and if you're not having fun then it really is a complete waste of time. Once you get annoyed everything that goes wrong is going to piss you off even more, and when you're doing something designed to challenge you that's a bad state to be in. On top of that, being angry will cause you to make stupid mistakes and thus get more angry. So take a break and go and do something else until you feel better. It's the only way. In fact, that's what I've just done. I was getting frustrated with EU3, to the point of yelling at the screen, so I switched it off and decided to browse the Internet instead - and hence, here I am, offering my wisdom to you. Much more productive.

Also, if it's particular game that's pissing you off, consider that that game might be the problem. It might just not be a very good game, in which case it would be advisable to stop playing it permanently.
This is absolutely fantastic advise. My partner used to go through the same stage of rage, it got to the point where we would fight because of this rage over video games, so obviously, when it gets to the stage where it is physically affecting something like a relationship, it needs dealing with, I just really hope it doesn't leak like that for you.
What Scobie said is as perfect as can be, and I highly recommend taking that advise if you can, and with due time, you'll find that rage becoming easier and easier to control.

Stop and remember that in 100 years, no one will give a f*ck about that one douche who knifed you.

This is why I don't get mad while playing.

Uh.. Woah there. I'm always a really calm person; for instance, as I type this, I'm raging, and what am I doing? Casually eating my dinner.

What I do when I'm 'punch the air frustrated' is just sit really still, clench my fists, take some breaths, and force my shoulders down to relax then.

Or maybe you like herbal tea?

If you can't go back to the menu, take a few breaths and calm down, then you're going to have to simply quit the game and play or do something else for a while. No sense smashing a concrete wall with your forehead.

I'd suggest something, but getting angry enough to break two controllers and a keyboard means you should probably just stop playing the game until you get over your rage. And maybe take up some form of meditation/medication to calm yourself down.

As for something else you can do that is fun to do when you're raging - make a Commando class in Modern Warfare 2, preferably with a pistol with the tac knife. Than ignore your kill/death ratio and spend a few rounds running around knifing people. Bonus points if you manage to stab a 12 year old with a mic repeatedly in the same match so that he starts to rage over the mic at you. I can guarantee that all your rage will disappear and be replaced by laughter the moment you get someone to start bitching and moaning at you for knifing them.

Boxing works for me, meditation, rest and reflection, just remember that it's a game, sit back and play outside for a bit, that kind of thing works for me.

As the title might indicate, I have a serious issue with getting angry while gaming. While this might seem a bit general, I can trace it directly back to Modern Warfare 2. That's all I'm going to say about that game, because I bet the majority of you just sighed with a kind of "Oh god, not that game again" type of sadness.

Anyway, frustration levels rose after my experiences with it, and due to that it's transferred to other games. I now find Team Fortress 2, Halo and other such normally non-frustrating games rage-inducing.

Has anyone got any tips as to how to reduce anger levels? I mean, there's no instant rage-reducing solution, but if anyone has any type of advice it would be appreciated. Raging at the game makes me play worse and as a result rage harder, which in turn makes me play even worse, etc.

Just as a reference point: I've broken two controllers, a keyboard and my current keyboard's missing a few keys.

When you start raging while playing just stop for a couple minutes and do some pushups or something. The rage will go away once the endorphans start pumping through your blood.

Take a deep breath. *Breathes in* *Breaths out*

Okay now remember that you're playing a game. You are doing this for fun. You don't have to win all the time and if someone ruins your fun for a little, don't worry, you'll be having fun again soon. Just don't take things too seriously.

That's about as much advice as I can give with the info you gave me.

Personally, I've found that a combination of medications including abilify and zyprexa is what I need to manage my emotions, but then I'm a autistic schizophrenic, so that may not be what you need.

BWAHAHAAH XD Newton was the King of Rage Quitters.

FCK GRAVITY!!

Anyways I think the best solution would be just try playing the game for fun. You know like we used to. I mean whenever I play an online game I always try to have a fun time or something to keep me laughing within it. If not then I quit

Woah... that must've been some game. I once got so pissed I beat the hell out of the controller, started swearing and when I beat the game, I wasn't even happy.

But, I've never had it ruin the fun of other games. Maybe try out Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm.

I find it funny/relaxing to slam Naruto into a wall at mach speed.
