I read all the comics at least twice...

I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT!

I've heard nothing but good things about it, but who would with such a great cast and such a great director.

I read there are of course some difference on film from the comic, but that's to be expected.

I JUST CAN'T WAIT THOUGH!

*braces self*
me and my girlfriend went to see that movie together, and it was awesome. and my girlfriend is completely videogame illiterate(didn't even know what pong is), and even she loved it.
its gotta be the best movie i've seen in ages

I'm sorry, but I fucking despise Scott Pilgrim. It's, in no way at all, funny. It just makes me angry. I'll probably be called out for this, but I didn't even bother with the movie because I can't stand for Michael Cera. Ever since I saw Year One I can't stand to see his face.
Did you see Scott Pilgrim? I'm just curious because I too generally hate Micheal Cera. Scott Pilgrim was the first movie I could tolerate him in (mainly because he actually moved fast >_>).
I think you should read my post again. :p
to say you despise the movie without even seeing it is like a child complaining that a food is disgusting, even tho he's never tried it before and refuses to try it now. its just very childish.

Great movie and an even better comic. It'll be the first movie I've bought in years....

When my friends saw the movie they got a bit confused with all the strange people so here's most if the people from comic books 1-3 for anyone who cares:

I want to hear other peoples' opinion on the movie.
Seems like everyone else got that.
That's because everyone else actually saw it.
I haven't seen it and I've asked for the opinion of others. The OP has given a good reason as to why they haven't seen the movie so back handed comments aren't really fitting here.

If you aren't trolling, what the hell are you talking about? One, your opinion on bass is stupid and wrong. Two, it was a thirty second Guitar Hero joke/parody/thing. I think someone forgot to take their meds this morning.
*Someone has a different opinion than me, must be trolling*

If it was a guitar hero battle why wasn't it on a guitar?
Prove me wrong about the bass guitars. You know why guitar solos are so popular? Because they sound fucking awesome, they have enough distinction from the rest of the instruments to sound good and they aren't needed for chordal depth. Bass instruments only sound if you have them play really really loud and everyone else much quieter because their sound is not meant to be that penetrating
That's why people want to be guitarist, guitar hero sold so well and most band have a guitar solo.
I won't go too much into the music theory behind it because I doubt you'd understand plus you've already been rude enough to me.
Before you say troll as well

And because guitars are more prominent in the band then NO BASS SOLOS EVER BECAUSE GUITARS ARE MORE DISTINCTIVE AND PEOPLE RECOGNIZE THEM MORE SO THE BASS MATTLE IS STUPID BECAUSE IT'S NOT ON GUITAR.

THIS CRAP COS IT'S NOT ON GUITAR!

HE SHOULD BE PLAYING GUITAR INSTEAD!

I'm still on the fence on this movie and the comic.

I'm an avid comics reader but this smells too much like fanfiction gone wild to me. The idea that a book like this sells and a movie like this was made is more interesting to me than the actual book or movie itself.

I've been reading this exchange between the two of you with rapt fascination and utter wonder.

Everybody is always interested in guitar solos so they decided to change it up and do bass guitar instead. That's it. Beginning and end of story.

It has nothing to do with musical theory or any kinds of whys and wherefores. There's no intelligent debate to be had here. The author of the book probably plays bass guitar and wanted to put them in the limelight for a change.

I watched it yesterday with a bunch of geeks in the local geek club. We all loved it. I had read three of the graphic novels before.

How is it like fan-fiction? It's an original work. Doesn't a fan-fiction requre basically taking someone else's character (plus your own mary-sues) and messing them together for better or more likely much worse? Yes there are homages/references to games, bands and comics but it so vague that it doesn't really fit that description.

But I must agree, it's very interesting to see such a niche film produced. It's really only targeted at majority of twenty-somethings, but it captured the nature/attitude of that generation/group amazingly well.

I know a whole bunch of indie kids as well as wannabe hipsters and what I noticed is bass is disproportionatley popular with them. No idea why, most can play both, I wonder if it's a similar thing with Bryan O'Malley, or something he's experienced. Also it works better in the film if he's not lead singer/guitar, his abscence and replacement in the band is less noticeable and it creates a parallel between him and the bassist of The Clash At The Demonhead.

Was your childhood set in the 90's?

Was your childhood and current young-adulthood full of memorable games and the experiences provided?

Same as above but for comic books?

If you answered Yes to the first question and Yes again to both or even just one of the other two... you will need a new pair of pants after the movie.

On another note, if you answered Yes to all of the above be sure to get "Batman: Arkham Asylum" if you don't mind loosing ANOTHER pair of pants.

Apparently questioning the discussion value. If you think it's a pointless thread, report it and move on.

OT: I haven't seen the movie yet, and I have never heard of pre-ordering movies before.
Heh, the option was on Amazon, so I took advantage of it.

You won't be disappointed. It's a great movie, stupid but entertaining stupid.
It's an extremely clever comedy. You're weird and wrong.
I must have missed the clever bit. It's funny and all, but I'd hardly say clever. It's just targeted at a better kind of audience than the standard comedy fare.

There's a Scott Pilgrim game over XBL, too, thats pretty win. Its similar to Castle Crashers, and you play it locally with friends. I recommend it :)

But yeah, sweet movie. I normally don't like the work that stars Cena, but I thought he worked well in Pilgrim.
Oh man!!! I want the game so bad!! But sadly, I don't have an XBox... D=

I have the soundtrack for the game though. *is a loser* XD
Do you have a PS3? PS3 version offers online co-op of the Scott Pilgrim game.

I only have a Wii, which is going to my boyfriend's house soon and a PS1 which is also going to him.
If it came out on the DSi or WiiWare, I'd be set.
