I'm thinking of 3 solutions to this mistery:

A. The dev included him as a ghost that appears in the game when people play on the lowest settings to scare the living shit out of people. Maybe there really was a brother, maybe not. We'll never know. One thing is for sure;

B. The brother is real and that's sort of an "homage" to him;

C. The brother is real and his ghost resides in the game;

D. It's a bug;

E. Photoshop + picture + scary story = ??? .

Pick your favorite.

There are Q/A's of Notch (the creator) dismissing the Herobrine creepypasta thing as a hoax. Though he said something about maybe making it a real thing. Source:

Anyway, yeah, you basically make whatever the hell you want. I spawned on an island and made an awesome lighthouse, an entire cobblestone path around it, and a little wooden dock. Planning on making a boat and heading out eventually. Still got plans to continue work my island though.

F , its not really a single player but a multi player server with a person standing at the end of his view site, and the forum posts / emails never happend or just one of his friends / mods playing a prank

OP : find a server and build .... design and build there is no limit

using some wood, make a wood pickaxe. You can then use that to make a stone pickaxe, to mine for iron and stuff. I mined an assload of stone to make a big-ass castle on top of the next mine I found, which has some iron and coal in it.

also: torhces, torches everywhere

When digging down, make it a 1x2 hole, and NEVER break the block you're standing on. Make sure to lay down ladders every other block (you don't need to place them on every piece). When you reach the bottom, open up the cavern a little bit and make a toolbench. Now to the actual mining.

1. Never dig stone with iron. It's a waste of a pick you can use on better blocks like diamond and redstone.

2. As far as a mining method, you're going to want to dig a straight, 1x2 tunnel as far as you want in any direction. Now you're going to dig 1x2 tunnels branching out from the first tunnel, and spaced 3 blocks apart. In other words, walk forward 3 spaces, on the fourth, start digging to the left a certain distance, then dig to the right. This is the most efficient mining method, next to exploring caverns.

What now?
Now boy. Now you dig
Dig, dig, then when you're bored of digging, try and get out, without torches, makes the game a tad moar interesting
Then dig some more until you can't dig no more
then divide by zero, or dig down till you hit the other side of the world, you'll hit blocks that people call bedrock etc, but if you use a diamond pick axe on them for say, about 20 minutes it breaks it then your at the centre of the games world, its said to be flat but it's really spherical then if u keep digging you'll be in Australia or china

I'm thinking about buying it.

If I loved the classic version, will I like the full version?
The full version is infinitely better than the Classic version

Notch's brother, maybe. I can't imagine that he would be included in the game as either an homage or a restless ghost. I'll get on SP and bring the results back. Chances are I'll never see him, but it would be cool to either prove or disprove this.

Also, you have 5 solutions, not 3.

On-topic: Build a city in the sky. A floating glass fortress always looks neat. It'll be a challenge, so it should keep you occupied.

You purchase the username. So Yes. I got it off my brother because he found it first. We have it on two computors and can play both at the same time :)

What computer specs do you need for this game?
I think anything will run it. It's an 8bit game.
Doesn't like my video card drivers apparently :S
You could try updating the drivers on the manufacturers website? Do you know which graphics card you have?

So I've finally bought in to the wonder that is Minecraft and have been reading the wiki for advice on crafting.

I've made a rudimentary log cabin, crafted a workbench and a door. My question is, now what?

I think I need some way of creating a few weapons for those pesky zombies that force me back inside my house at night...
Ello ello, I also bought Minecraft like a week ago but I have a few pointers that might help.

Come dawn, bring a workbench, wood, the best picks you can make (Wood/Stone probably being the easiest to make early on) and whatever coal you have.. you probably also want to make a bow or a sword.

Now instead of just going to the nearest rock and hammer away, scout around and see if you can find a natural cave, a natural cave will give you a LOT of benefits depending on the size, for example you save a lot of pointles digging and with the help of a few torches you can probably find coal/iron/gold/diamonds without even having to dig aimlessly for them.

Of course even if it IS day creatures can still spawn inside caves, this is a good thing! Its a good thing because quite often you'll hear a monster or maybe running water but wont be able to find it in your cave, which means that theres another cave nearby, so get to where the sound(s) are the loudest and dig a bit.
