I'll be honest, I still haven't played it. I got L4D2, Assassin's Creed 2, and Modern Warfare 2 all on the same day and it has been a busy week resulting in me playing a bit of Modern Warfare and as much Assassin's Creed as I could possibly play.

It's harder to design maps for L4D than TF2. In my opinion at least.

Just because TF2 has gotten amazing DLC doesn't mean every game should be set to it's standards.

L4D2 is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GAME THAN L4D2.

OK if MW2 warrants a sequel then L4D2 warrants a sequel NO DOUBT. I mean L4D2 adds a lot more new features while MW2 really doesnt and people wonder if L4D2 should be a sequel? Come on!

Played it for the first time today, and it definately is an improvement on the first, though I was rather disapointed by the first so that isn't saying much.

The new weapons/maps is a big thing, but the new infected don't really seem like that big of a deal, they don't really change gameplay and it doesn't really do much that couldn't be done in the first game (the only significant gameplay change is the melee weapons, and tbh I don't see the point. I guess the guns all feel weak/underpowered, but they are still unnecissary).

I remember when this kind of content was called an 'expansion pack' and cost half of what a full release did (if that, $30 or $40 au when new release titles cost $100), but I guess all devs have become more greedy since I was a child.

That's pretty ironic considering your name. I'd think left 4 dead 2 would be your number 1 priority.

Ya, but I am lacking friends to play it with right now. Without others it would kinda feel hollow.

Quite a bit of the extra TF2 content is user generated, most of the maps have been customs getting made official. As for DLC, L4D maps are much harder to make, it's more like creating and scripting single player levels than multiplayer maps.
There's a lot more complication involved and in the case of L4D2 there's a lot of technical changes to make it work. Despite the feel and using Source it's getting very close to being a completely different game engine in 2 when compared to 1.

Admittedly from a players perspective all that crap under the hood may as well not exist, but it does add up when you take in the things like rolling crescendo events, the director's extra controls, the weather and physical effects of, the extra SI, melee weapons and the new damage models.

Also the matchmaking and serverbrowser have been massively improved. It drops me into games in about 30 seconds now where as the old one was hopeless and took minutes if it could find the game at all. Maybe they'll apply that retro to L4D1.

There is enough in there to justify a sequel, the pricing here was fine (£25, so it cost as much Cod 4's map packs) so can't complain. Compared to the crap other devs drop as sequels it's pretty damn good.

Was NOT worth the money. I didn't even have fun playing it.
I'll stick to Borderlands and Mw2.

It would be incredibly wrong to demand this as a low-price or free downloadable add-on, mostly because it improves on Left 4 Dead in many many ways. Enough to make it a must-buy? That kind of depends if you're into the subject matter and enjoyed the gameplay in Left 4 Dead because it's the same kind of stuff it's just a lot better, (which unfortunately casts a somewhat damning light on some of the original's shortcomings.) Certainly it's worth the price of a full game anyway content-wise.

They SERIOUSLY changed that without putting it in Left 4 Dead 1?

I'm sorry, but that is just lower than low. Releasing a buggy, non-working system, then releasing the "new version" that actually WORKS for a full price tag is something not even Adobe does. And they can be kinda greedy.

I don't care what anyone says. I got a million flaming responses in my mind to this and I'm not taking anything but a straight out apology from Valve. And THEN a patch to the original.

I like it a lot because for the most part, if feels like a totally different game. It feels a lot more strategic and I look forward to playing with friends this weekend so I won't have to deal with the retardedness of the Bots.

I've had a similar problem lately. Everyone's playing modern warfare 2 and I rarely get a good game together. Soon, though. Soon everyone will start to switch over.

If you don't care what anyone says why are you reading/posting on an interweb forum?

Seriously, L4D2 is fun and its obvious you haven't given it a try. Your choice to be stubborn doesn't take away from those of us who did grab L4D2 if you don't play it though, so have fun playing in your corner. I'm going to go kill some swamp zombies.

Ps. I'm sure Valve is getting RIGHT ON that apology letter to you...

L4D2 is a HUGE improvement in a LOT of areas over L4D1. I consider it one of the best games I have EVER played and it was worth every penny.

It is honestly just DLC disguised as a game. It feels cheap and rushed. I'd wait till patches fix all the bugs that are in it at the moment. It's just not worth it.

I didn't really like L4D, and L4D2 doesn't look like I will have fun for long either. With L4D I just played it through and moved on to something good, same thing whenever an expansion came out. With L4D2 I expect the same so I will most likely not be buying this until a 50% off sale.

Yes, soon they shall join the dark side. Well, actually I think the light side because we all know Infinity Ward is the true evil one.

New characters, new maps, new game modes, new weapons, new game dynamics, new tools, and new infected. It's the biggest, most comprehensive DLC you'll ever see, which completely overhauls and improves the original, brilliant experience. For £25. Or $60. Or whatever, it's worth it.
