I had an original 360 for about four years, and the day after Fable 3 released (last year in September), I got the E 74 error. So I bought the new 360 model.

For the amount of time I put into my original X-Box 360, and the fact that it lasted four years, I'd say I got my moneys worth.

I had one xbox that rrod'd after 3 years of use. Eventually I got the 360 slim, which would end up pissing me off because apparently the cheap version doesn't have a hard drive. It still works fine for gaming, but I wish I could play firefight on Halo: Reach.

I've actually never had a RROD in 4-5 years of the 360.

I got really, really lucky as well as always taking good care of it. Switched it off every 2-3 hours for a break and kept it away from walls and carpets.

The 360 Slim does not red ring, as far as I know, it shuts off when it gets too hot (which has never happened me eihter) - if you do get another one make sure it's one of those.

I am on my second Xbox 360. I've had this one since 2008. MS replaced the last one for free, even though it was past it's warranty. This one's been making some complaints now, mostly the disk tray is getting stubborn about opening.

I believe I have gone through 3 Xbox360s (I think) and am still happy with Xbox360 as a whole. Each time it was still under warranty and they replaced it very quickly and at no cost to me (Always get the warranty no matter what console you get). I don't mind it happening so much because of my positive experiences thus far, and I like the console.

had an issue with it not reading the disc for a bit and it was outside the warranty so i took it apart, cleaned it up.. now it works like new again... and this thing gets used CONSTANTLY in my household.

I've had my Xbox 360s do the red ring 4 times over the years. But my household usually has 2 xbox360s at a time, so it seems....plausible.

None. My PS3 still works fine OH NO WAIT. Yeah, light-hearted jabs aside A friend of mine has gone through at least 5 in the past 2+ years but then again he takes shitty care of them. With love and care your console will last a lifetime. Unless it's a 360 [small]Okay, I'll stop[/small]

I've had two 360s. One that worked for 4 years... until I unplugged it and upgraded to an S.

My first one never had problems, ever. But then again, I kept it well ventilated and took care of it.

So yeah, two 360s - two perfectly working 360s.

i digress what do you mean from your comment?
What I mean is the bait and switch garbage with removing the PS2 backwards compatibility. The bait and switch garbage of Blocking Linux installation capability. The pursuing litigation against a kid they knew they had absolutely no legal grounds on and even had recent legal precedent in the apple Jailbreaking case. Failing security or Creating a false flag security breach gone horribly wrong dependent on how you want to look at it. Antagonizing those who tried to restore functionality wrongly removed. Pretending like they are the victim. Dodgy shady tactics in the face of congressional inquiry. Suing a second kid for doing the still legal action. Giving an appology program that was little more than a PR stunt so they could push features no one wants.

Need I go on, because there is more.

None of mine ever red ringed, but one had another type of hardware failure so I... tried to fix it myself. This did not work.

Then I bought another, and it's COMPLETELY NOT JINXED NOW.

as I understand they mostly fixed the problem in the slim model but really the reason it cant red ring is that they dont have the lights anymore

I had a Core version for a few years, then one day it just died.
I was surprised it took so long to fail, actually.

I've had 2 360's and I never had a problem with either. I think everyone is making it all up!

First. I've had it for three years, and it hasn't failed me yet. It got some red lights on the front a long time ago, but nothing ever came of it.

I've had one Xbox 360. It's here right now.

Look away Xbox, you don't want to know!

It works fine, despite being in my ownership for 2 and a half years and someone else's for up to three years before that. So I can't complain. I love my 360, it performs really well and never lets me down.

I've had 1 Red Ring on me and 2 others come up with some weirder problem. 1 had no video and the other wouldn't read any discs. Haven't had any problems since but I wonder why game systems treat me with the opposite care I give them.
