Hello Escapist's, If you haden't geussed already from the title my Xbox 360 has finally red ringed on me, after around 2 years of problemless service the old boy has finally keeled over, and just as i get my hands back on Fallout 3.

So, with my 360 dead, my PS3 lent out, My Wii lost somewhere, a leg that feels like it's going to give up everytime i walk, and no money it seems I'll be playing quite a few more games of TF2...

But enough of my woes and pointless issues, i'm curious about YOU Escapist's, and Escapee's, What is one of the worst situations you've been in related to your consoles/ or just gameing period.

Also, brownie points if you can give me any information on what to do with my now dead console.

Cat fried my PS2 with pheromones, it would stop receiving power when you closed the Disc Tray, making it completely Useless.

Anyways, I suggest the Whole Warranty thing, and look for that Wii while it's getting Fixed/Replaced/Reversed-Aged to a point in time before it Red Ringed.

My house got struck by lightning over the summer while I was away, and it fried half of my gaming gear and wrecked every TV in the house. My computer had to be sent for repairs and, the Wii was totaled, and all my old systems like the N64 and SNES refused to turn on. Thankfully, my sister had gotten insurance on the Wii when she bought it, and the problem with the older systems was just that the power cords got messed up. But I was still without games for a few weeks while we got new TVs.

Just call the Xbox 360 hardware support line. My warranty had run out and my Xbox didn't even red-ring and they still replaced it (apparently certain other hardware failures qualify even if it doesn't trigger the red-ring). I got a new Xbox for free in ten business days.

I know your pain. My PS3 just showed the yellow light of death today. Hopefully it will be able to get repaired.

I had an original Xbox which RROD, so I sent it in, got it back, and it immediately RROD again. After that it worked for 4 years without a problem though.

My PS2 died and my PS3 isn't backwards compatible.
So I'm stuck playing some of my PS2 games on an emulator, which is often quite buggy.
That's about it, really. All my other consoles still work.
Including my 8-bit Nintendo. That thing is made out of adamantium.

I should really get a new PS2.
There's still games I haven't finished playing.

I've got a couple dead consoles. The old Xbox is...well, I guess I can't quite call it 'dead' since it does work some of the time. But most games it either can't recognize or gets glitched up. And it's always making weird noises. Luckly, I never play it much these days anyways.

Then there's the Genesis. The console itself might be fine for all I know, but I lost the cords and controllers years ago. I'd have to buy some off of Amazon for it to work again, which I see no point in doing thanks to emulation, Virtual Console, and the Sonic Genesis Collection.

Everything else still works though, even the NES works fine 25 years later.

You can use your 'bricked' system as an actual brick in your monument to shattered hopes and dreams/jubilation and merriment of yesteryear. It'll do as a paper-weight if you aren't the art-and-crafts type.
You'll probably find your Wii while digging around for other objects for your art project and when you sell the monument, you will have enough cash for another Xbox 360!

In a pinch, you could always lob it at a crazed console fan giving you guff...in self defense only,of course.

Check out http://www.microsoft.com/en/us/default.aspx , there is probably an 800 number you can call, or at least a customer service e-mail where you can get info. They will probably ask for a proof of purchase though, so I hope you kept your receipt (unless they can track it through the s/n, I am not sure).

My console disappointment was when my roommate left before the lease ended with his PS3 to live with a girl he had just met, I was planning on buying my own but didn't because I didn't see the use of having 2 PS3s in the same apartment.

The funny thing is after he left with his, I told the people I play frequently with (people I have never met in real life, we started a small forum to keep in touch) that I would be off for a while while I saved up some money for a new one, they actually sent me money through Paypal to help me buy a new one. I am still overwhelmed by their generosity.

This post is incredibaly creepy, not for it's content, but for the fact that there is an art festival thats just around the corner (Time wise, of course) and i was actually considering entering something to buy myself a new console...

If Microsoft doesn't get an xbox to you in decent time you need to call them. I waited a month before getting fed up and contacting them and though they never told me what happened it was clear to me that I was going to be waiting forever if I hadn't called them up and demanded to know what was taking so long.

What the skeptics say about psychic powers might just be correct,it seems. Even if they exist, they are nigh completely useless,at least to the people who possess them.

Search your local newspaper for a legit ad about xbox360 repairs.
Surely someone in your area has set up a buisness that fixes these things. I keep one in my wallet for when my xbox dies on me again that is for my tristate area. (WV,KY,and OH)
I've been in and out of this since i 1st got my first 360 3 years ago and been sending back to microsoft the whole time and they just send a refurbished one that breaks in like 4 months.
Now I'm out of the warranty and they wont repair it anymore.
