As far as combinations go, that's probably the one that most PS3 owners have (PS3 for the PS3 exclusives, PC foe the '360 exclusives'). That said, there's probably a large chunk of PS3 owners that don't also have a PC, so they're going to be the only real audience this will have.


Though I do wonder how well Mass Effect 3's going to do on the PS3 if it's a simultaneous launch. Sure XBOX owners are more likely to get it for the 360 because it's available for the 360, but I think (for the most part) the PS3 and PC versions are going to share a lot of common ground with potential customers

Well, I had to try to create a character in ME2 and see what the default settings of the story are like. They suck. Plus I had real trouble feeling any emotions for my character since he kinda randomly popped up into the universe. But yes, I think that PS3 owners should play it even without the first one. The combat has been improved (though simplified), the characters are great (apart from Jack and Zaeed) and the storyline is addicting (though it doesn't really add to much to the main story).

ya and bioware in lots of interviews before ME2 came out where like, your going to see huge impacts form your choices in ME1 in ME2 and it really was just emails in game.

I have very little desire to go out and buy this anyway. I played Mass Effect 1 for about an hour, got bored stupid and turned it off. If number 2 is anything like it then count me out.

No, it's vastly different from Mass Effect 1. Nearly every aspect of the game has improved.

That depends on your definition of improved. Basically they just stripped out the RPG so that the lowest common denominator would be able to play.

I'm also part of a small minority that owns a PS3, 360, and a gaming PC, but when ever I tell that to most people, their jaws literally drop.

The majority have one system, and a none gaming PC, it takes a special type of fanatic to own more than one (current gen none portable) gaming platform.

Anyways, I think PS3 owners will still get excited over this game just because it use to be a 360 exclusive in the console department. It's a fanboy thing that every gamer has a bit within them and the fact that 360 owners can never gloat about this series again will put a smile on a lot of PS3 owner's faces.

No they don't. A lot of PS Users don't use a PC for Gaming and they believe PS3 is superior to all consoles.

Actually yes I will still get ME2 for the PS3. I have a 360 but I no longer play it so I don't really care about playing the first one that much. And if someday I really did wanna play it well my 360 will still be there.

I'm excited. I already have both games for the 360, but I'm excited for the people who only have a PS3.

I'm interested to see how they handle the problem of not having a Mass Effect 1 save to transfer.
Though, with the amount a Bluray disc can hold, it's probably not a stretch to assume they could put a good portion of the first game along withthe second on 1 disc.

I have a PS3, and don't have a PC up to modern gaming standards, so I'm looking forward to this.

Also, there's confirmed "hours of extra content" in the PS3 release, which may or may not be samples of the first game's events - and wasn't there already something along those lines when creating a new character? I remember reading something along those lines, but not sure if it was a pre-release suggestion or something from a review.

Meh, I'll definitely be giving it a look at least, and it's on my "probable purchase" list.

Not really, pretty much the entirety of the second game was based off decisions that you made in Mass Effect 1.

In fact, almost every single story mission in the second game had to do with some sort of association with the first ones series of events, not counting a few of the loyalty missions.

Saying that it was emails is rather shallow, because the emails weren't actually necessary, just a little justice to the filler from Mass Effect 1. It just goes to show that they went the extra distance to credit you with your actions on the less important events. I doubt I would've liked ME2 if it hadn't been for me completing the first game.

All the save file import ever did really was add a few more characters or change some for dialogue options. I didn't consider that extra dialogue to be very consequential.

I'll probably buy it. I've played sequels that carry over from the first game before without playing the previous game, and I've enjoyed them. Plus I am a Bioware fanboy so would be buying it anyway, the only reason I haven't yet is because my PC is an old man.

To tell you the truth, I'm kinda intrigued how they're going to implement the first game into ME2, for instance they might be portion where you'll actually be playing the first game with the new ME2 set up for fillers into backstory.

It could take place as flash backs during the questioning scene in ME2 where Miranda tries to verify how good Shepard's memories are since the lazarus project.

For instance when Miranda ask if Shepard remembers what happened on Virmire, we get a flash back to then and the player then can play and make the choices that effected events in the first game.

So even with my PC copy of ME2, I'm planning on buying the second game again on my PS3 just to see how they handle it. Plus, I would like to revisit ME1 if they're to upgrade portions of it for ME2 gameplay.

Pretty much. It's still a good game either way. And the RPG system is still there, it's just a lot more shallow.

sadly they wont be getting the best multiplayer experience in a long time...halo is xbox exclusive maybe one day all you ps3 owners

I just hope that, now that ME3 will be developed with the PS3 in mind, some of the arcs from ME1 (Kaidan/Ashley, Wrex, Conrad Verner, Rachni Queen,...) won't be downplayed too much. I still want some of those choices to make a significant impact.
