As a British friend of mine once said, "Australia, just a bunch of connies we sent south a long long time ago, moving on." And if wild life was a reason to not go, then I should leave Georgia, god I hate the hogs/banana spiders/alligators/snakes/what ever that damn flying bug with the 6 inch antenna is.

I really just don't care to go. Is that a good enough reason?

I COME FROM A LAND DOWN UNDER

and i must say, you need to keep your potions n shit tight down here, because the spiders have mana bars and most lizards have an AGI +55.

BTW, even though some games get censored (a la L4d2), we live ~12 hours in the future (to NY), and we also happen to get most games earlier than that, so yeah, quite good.

I live here and i can safely say you people have it wrong.

1Spiders are pussy's, the snakes will fuck you up though unless you play a game of catch the shovel.TM(the snake always catches the shovel, so i win)

The Heat? MAN UP YOU PUSSY'S 40 degrees FTW.

costs, yeah its expensive, but we get paid lots so that makes up for it.

now here is what makes Australia shit.

People. they are ALL whingers. all of em. down to the last banana bender.

apart from that the beach party are real and they are good

but the indigenous population (ie the aboriginals) are fucking greedy lazy whingers and they wonder why they get no respect.

they pass exams and go to uni(college) just because they are aboriginals this is not a lie or exaggeration.

and they are still fucking complaining
You did kinda take there country. That warrants a few hundred years of complaining. But yes at some point you just gotta deal with it and strive for success.

I really miss the amazing public transportation :(
The transportation needs to be good.

To get you away from the spiders and snakes.
One time when I was over in Australia I was walking down the street and I looked behind me and found that I was being followed by a spider. it continued to follow me for some time...
O.O
I could care less about the heat
but if spiders aren't cowering in my wake and trying to stay hidden then I don't think I could do it.
Spiders actually following me with the idea of killing me? I'll stick with National Geographic for all my Australia seeing needs.

Man, everyone is complaining about the spiders...
They're not that dangerous - just stay the hell away from them. Anyway, it's the little one's and the snakes you really have to worry about (Huntsmans - no poison, Redbacks - lots of poison).
Sure you can just stay away from them but is it completely impossible to accidentally get to close to one? Just saying...

Reasons I wouldn't go... the horrible internet and game censorship

not really that much, also we're getting an R18+ rating which should fix much of this soon.

Internet censorship? We don't have it... there were plans for it, and maybe still are... but we don't have it.

As for the bugs? If you don't go into the country the likelyhood is that you will not see a single one. Even if you do, they don't fucking bite your face off. They sit in the corner or on a wall and do nothing. Just get a glass, put it over it, slide some card under the glass and throw the fucker outside and stop being such a pansy. Just mentioning that snakes too are pretty rare sights in most places and you'll never run into one unless you're a moron traipsing through high grass.

The reasons you wouldn't come here is because it's expensive comparatively to countries that have more touristy things to do. Here in Melbourne I can't think of much a tourist would do... sure there are landmarks, things like museums and aquariums, but there's nothing really special. We're one of the most liveable cities, with some of the best nightlife and culture in the world, but that only caters for a special kind of tourist, and us Melburnians ourselves.

Haha most people are using bugs or animals that are scary as a reason not to go. I didn't realise our fauna had such a reputation around the world. At first I thought that people were joking but it seems so reoccuring that maybe it isn't. Just in case people don't actually realise, we have houses you know, and cities. So unless you plan on going camping (which I have multiple times and have never been bitten by anything worse than an ant) I think you'll be fine. I suppose the game release thing would be annoying to others but when everyone else close to you gets the game at the same time it doesn't really matter that much. Anyways just a plug for Australia, awesome country, great people, but not much of a tourist destination. Well that is for Melbourne anyway, Queensland and Northern Territory are pretty good places to go.

Hey, I think that pic is from my house!

The spiders aren't that scary. They're cute and fluffy, like a kitten. Although, I admit, they're often bigger than a kitten... and have bigger teeth...

But I grew up in Africa, with big things that will kill you. So the little poisonous things that will kill you in Australia don't really seem all that scary.
Africa? Pfft can't speak for all of it but Ghana was all birds and small flying bugs for me besides the one

The laundry list of reasons not to go to Australia always gets beaten out by the fact that they have some of the hottest women in the world.
Only the pretty ones can have children before they're killed by spiders. Thus more pretty women.

The main reasons I've not yet been to Australia:

1.) Money. Super expensive to get to.
2.) The stupid "winter-during-summer" thing. I want to visit during the Australian summer for beach time, but I'm usually busy in the winter with family functions.
3.) I might not want to come back, and I'd miss my family.

Well, the unspoken rule is if you wake up with something 8-legged crawling over you, stay still until it goes away. Also, don't look up while going to the toilet, just encase a Spider is hanging out on your roof/door. You can assume a spider isn't there, but it's safer to assume there is one, so you don't get freaked out as much when you do eventually look up.
Well I've gotten into the habit of being tensed 90% of the time so nothing ever scares or surprises me but the small spiders in my basement are the only thing that breaks my preparedness for anything. Seems rather silly that during my two trips to Ghana to stay with family my experiences with Alligators and (I'm pretty sure it was) a hyena weren't half as scary as the pictures of spiders I've seen in this thread.
