I'd say for me the heat(I do not tan as much as sizzle when exposed to more than a hours worth of strong sun), the distance and price to get there and FINALLY the wildlife that seems to have inspired a good portion of Monster Manuals.

Lol, serious? That's pathetic.

I wouldn't move because I already live here. C'MON AUSSIE.
I'm not going 'cause you guys are mean to New Zealanders :'(
You make it sound like they don't deserve it.

I'd guess for me it'd be the fact that i'm not completely fucking filthy rich and i don't have a career that would make me eligible to emigrate there.

The spiders would be a small price to pay to get away from this third rate fucking pimple on the arse of the universe country i.e. England.

Yeah But we have Air-conditioning... SO all you need to do is stay indoors and your good.

I like this thread because I am an aussie and it is funny some of the reasons (especially the ones that are fairly true)

I like it here to much, that's why I wouldn't go, plus those spiders are fucking scary :O
Okay mate Come over here and the first challenge will be for you to find a reasonably sized spider.

I had an English Exchange student over here for 6 weeks a couple of years back and during the whole time he didn't see a singe spider (and it was spider season)

I guess I'll go with not having enough money (or a visa) to go there, and the fact that it's too far away.

But come on, it's still Australia

Terrifying, terrifying critters. No matter what I was doing, I would always be thinking about the number of non-human things withing a few square miles that could kill or horribly injure me.

1) Gaming release dates are fucked over there. And getting games in general.
2) Every animal can kick your ass.
Pretty much this only I would change number 2 slightly: The animals don't want to kick your ass in Australia, they want to fucking murder you. I would probably still go because the deadlier ones are ocean dwellers and I don't swim (especially in Beaches) but still, I'd be wary.

One reason for me and only one, The fucking bugs man. I mean seriously, Spiders the size of your hand is enough for me.

No offence to any aussies, but your country is so damn scary!

Hahaha, worst reason.

As a 'true-blue' I can tell you several reasons not to come here, because it's a great place to live on balance, with all things considered, but there are drawbacks.

Firsly, we're in the middle of no where, so video games, television shows, everything is already old (unless imported) by the time it gets here, even cars take ages to be released, then they are priced at stupid levels, so suddenly only the super rich can afford even a 5 series BMW - that's bloody insane.

Then there's the weather, don't come in Summer, you'll just die. Cancer, being sun burnt, de-hydration, ect.

No one can speak to a scientific fact about a population of people that they don't know all individually, but I think that Americans are more helpful than Australians, well the country counter-parts, city slickers are generally pretty helpful from both places (oh, I've travelled to Seattle, Chicago, New York and Washington, so I have about a 50% idea of the US person friendliness level).

I think the best western country would actually be the UK, just because of the geographic location, but the US is closer to South America (obviously), Australia? Only if you want to see Asia or New Zealand.

Bugs, the politics, the actual idiotic tourists, the heat (Gets hot enough in southern Ontario seeming as were Americas tail pipe. Shut down your damn coal plants you jerks).

Well maybe I'd go somewhere on the east coast, around late wintery/spring. Seems to be the best place... and less things there to kill you I assume.

Cost

Cause if I could afford it, I'd love to go hunting out there. Half the thrill is knowing you may not survive.

The 250 ways to die. Such as the invisible jelly fish that are invisible, microscopic, and can paralyze me and thus drown me while being invisible.

Let's see, for me it would be:

1. No money; plane tickets are fucking exspensive

2. Long plane ride; I don't like sitting still for too long

3. Wild life that wants to eat me; I'm dark meat, so I hope I give them heart burn

Those are the big three with the exception of the heat. I'm fine with heat, I love it when it's hot outside and not fucking cold(I see my state freezing again this winter). I would love to go to Australia, but if I had the money for a ticket, I would sooner go to Japan or a east-Asian country. After all, Japan is like 800 miles north of Australia, and if my family comes with me, then I would pick places where my mom wouldn't die from shock. She is terrified by spiders.

The weather's not as all-round fantastic as it's portrayed in pop culture, and buying games for $100 is a bugger.

But apart from that, I can't complain. I've been told we're more potty-mouthed than people in the UK and US, especially in school, and it's true, the spiders we have to catch and throw out of the house are bloody huge and terrifying, but living in Melbourne, it isn't that much of an issue for me.

Also, despite what our own media says, we have perhaps the most peaceful government around. To quote the travel writer Bill Bryson, 'Australia is the Norway of the Southern Hemisphere'.

Oh, I might go there some day. Supposed to be some nice scenery, and the people I've met from Australia have generally been pretty decent.

On the other hand- blistering heat combined with some of the thinnest ozone protection, deadly jellyfish, deadly spiders, deadly snakes, deadly crocodiles, deadly scorpions, deadly insects... Pretty much the highest concentration of fauna that is capable of killing you anywhere other than a zoo dedicated to the subject of fauna capable of killing you.

I mean, for cryin' out loud... The kangaroos and ostriches seem pretty innocuous, and even they can kill you.

New Zealand has many of the same positives, and the nastiest animals there are the ones people brought there.
