So Top 5 > Extra Credits?

I don't understand the appeal behind Top 5 at all. I hated Lisa Foiles on All That and I hate her now. Extra Credits always gives me a little something to ponder as well.

As an avid fan of both, sometimes you just need some light entertainment instead of constant information, a la Extra Credits. Also, I think this might belong in Off-Topic a bit more than gaming.

Thanks Moose. To be honest I watched one Top 5 and I just didn't enjoy it. Extra Credits on the other hand has made me reconsider how I do my job (I'm an English teacher in Japan). So many times that show has given me discussion starters to share with my friends that have waned into sleepy ramblings. Top 5 seems to just be selling sex appeal. To be fair I've only watched it once. Are there any Top 5 episodes that come close to the philosophical debates that arise from Narrative Mechanics? (please tell me how to link episodes. blah[url] doesn't work)

I always figured Top 5 wasn't doing so well so Escapist pushed it towards the top of the list. Same reason Game Dogs used to get pushed forward a lot.

I think people are panicking that Top 5 will be cancelled so they're just trying to make sure it sticks around.
A lot of internet crushes going on. I personally find the show entertaining, but I also know Lisa Foilles is an actress and is probably doing a real job for now.

Well so's Burger King, but there's always higher paying jobs out there. And acting requires several months of relocation at times.

Well, I hope it's for the best then. I just hope she's doing it because she likes it, and not just for the money.

It doesn't offend me. I guess I (be gentle I'm new here)thought the community was into EC more than Top 5 so to see them switch up was just a little surprising is all.

I don't like Extra Credits because I hate people who take that kind of stuff too seriously and command people to do stuff, because in the end it's not going to change the fact that it is just a game. But yah Top 5 is garbage and as much as I hate Extra Credits it doesn't need to be below that, below MovieBob stuff sure though.

I seriously hate her show, not to mention I think she's incredibly ugly and seems to be very condescending towards gamers. For the record, I don't find Extra Credits very enjoyable either. The main guy never EVER takes a side on any issue, he always drones on and on never giving opinions, but sitting on the fence in some mediocre grey area. I love video games, but the way he views them is so utterly pretentious and irritating.

I imagine it's just something that occurred with all the shifting around of articles and graphics with the E3 dump. I wouldn't make a big deal about it. It would seem very strange indeed if the Escapist was promoting a show that hadn't updated in three months over one that still updated weekly.

And, yes, I like both shows.

Well I've learned a lot. Obviously what I come to The Escapist to see is different than others and that's ok. I will not argue what's the better show (though I'm clearly biased). Like I said, I don't watch the Top 5 at all so I had no idea that they (the whole crew, let's give credit where credit's due) hadn't posted a new show in over a month so my bad. I don't like most of the shows on TE (I hope that's a good acronym). Where's my curmudgeon badge?
