lol, troll thread...

OT: No Gaming PC exists that can play new AAA games for less than $300.

/thread FOR THE PAST 8 FUCKING YEARS!

@ I win

Or do you want to talk about current prices?????

You fail if you think you can buy a gaming PC for $150 that can play current AAA games.

Duh.

EDIT: For added fun facts, what developers name PC as the medium of choice for developing games on? CUZ IT ISN'T BETHESDA!!!

Link your article for your epic gaming win please. Cuz I haven't seen it.

I like to be proven wrong tho.

Don't hate me cuz I'm pretty.

EDIT: I do have to give props to EA for PC gaming tho... they ban trolls. Even if it's only for a week or so, that shit is fucking awesome dood!!!!!!
Poe's Law states that there is no sarcasm someone will not mistake for stupidity, or vice versa. It also states that in the case you can't work it out, assume stupidity until proven otherwise.

OT: The Operation Rainfall games. That's about it.

We have motion controls! Yeah, how can you beat that?! [small]nope[/small]

I also heard it's physically impossible to sit back and relax on a sofa whilst gaming on a PC.
The mouse is a freaking motion control!

-Easy to use.

-pop in and play, no need to config settings just to get the damn game to run.

-Most consoles have some form of social interaction software intergrated into the game infrastructure itself. Yea there's skype, but when was the last time you invited someone to your L4D party directly out of the skype window?

-Everyone is on the same hardware. Makes it easy to plan out which games you're going to buy with friends, as opposed to "dude I would love to play BF3 on the PC, but my PC can't run it and I'm not paying for an upgrade for 1 game."

-Physical copies of my games.

-Better selection of games, depending on genre of course. that goes both ways though.

But to digress from the main point a bit, why pick one side over the other when you can enjoy the advantages of both?

I like consoles for the simplicity, Xbox live, and ability to use my couch.

I like my PC for internet, steam, and mods.

One is not better over the other. And NO the graphics argument is not legitimate as an excuse in my opinion.

Well, I prefer consoles for a number of reasons. Firstly, when I buy a game for my PS3, I know that, except for a few notable exceptions, it will run on my console. That's a massive weight off of my mind.

Secondly, it can't get viruses or become infected with malware.

Thirdly, I like to sit on my couch and relax when playing a video game. For some reason, I can't seem to relax when using a computer, probably because I use it so much for uni work and the like, and it's hard to sit at my desk and relax.

Fourthly, I like to invite friends over and play local multiplayer with them. Playing online is fine, but you can't beat the feeling of sitting down with some good friends for a gaming session. If I wanted to do that with a computer, we'd both need copies of the game, and both have to move our computers into the same room.

Fifthly, when you buy games for PC, even if you buy a retail version, they're often linked to Steam or some other DRM. I recently went away for the weekend to a place with no wireless internet, wanted to relax and have a nice game of Civ V, but was unable to, because I'd forgotten to configure Steam for offline. A game which I bought in a store and never play online was therefore inaccessible to me, and I never have that problem with console games.

Sixth, and I know this will probably be unpopular, is motion control. People can hate it all they want, but I don't think I've ever had as much fun while gaming as when I've had some spirited matches of Archery or Table Tennis with my friends in Sports Champions, and Killzone 3 and Resistance 3 were a lot of fun with motion controls too.

Finally, there are the exclusives. I can only speak for the PS3 about this, but some of the best moments I've had in gaming have come from exclusives. LittleBigPlanet, InFamous, Uncharted, Demon's Souls, Resistance, Killzone, Motorstorm...they're amazing games, and I couldn't have any of them on a PC. Additionally, Catherine, Red Dead Redemption, and El Shaddai, while not being PS3 exclusives, are console exclusives, and are examples of other amazing games I'd miss out on if I had a PC.

So those are the reasons I prefer console to PC :) Hope I've helped!

The hardware is relatively cheap compared to a decent PC nowadays.
Games are always compatible with consoles; no specific GFX cards, or processors required to play a specific game.
This is just me, but a PS3 controller is more comfortable than mouse and keyboard, the very few games I have on my laptop don't rely on my reflexes, since I'm not comfortable using mouse and keyboard.
If a console ever acts up, you get it checked out and replace it. A PC is far more of a pain if it fucks up.

The controller, honestly I've become quite the PC gamer since I lost my t.v set in a move and my xbox broke like a million years ago. But I hate the keyboard and mouse set up, its just not comfortable and it takes a bit of tweaking to get a good set up. Though that can easily fix by using a ps3 controller or xbox controller on the PC.

Convenience mainly. It's easy to go out and buy a console and some games and set it up in a few hours.

But if you don't know a lot about PC's to go out and buy or make a PC takes time and effort.

I believe the reward for putting that time and effort in really pays off though.

Ease of play, ease of splitscreen.

Though the latter is being systematically killed off as online-only sells more copies.

I personally think the pc is superior, but advantages to a console?

Let's see:
1: No annoying steam/origin/other digital distribution programs to all have running on your system
2: No need to really install. And if your game does have to, it's all automatic. Basically, it's easier to use.
3: It's smaller than a PC. Well, unless you have a laptop of course.
4: After the first months of a new console coming out it's cheaper on initial purchase, even if game cost evens it out after a while.

But like I said, I think the pc is superior. It's a bit harder to use and takes up more space, but games are cheaper, you can do a lot more with it than just gaming, most of the time pc's are more powerful, mouse + keyboard is a win for me, it allows for much more customization, etc. I mean, you can hook up a pc to a TV and use a controller as well. And they don't have to take up as much space as people claim.
I would say that sony and microsoft are much, much, MUCH harder to deal with then steam. Just saying.

The biggest thing for me is the ability to rent games, I can't afford to buy all the games I want to play (I have to save for months to buy a game) but for £5.99 a month I can have a 360 game for as long as I want, send it back and get the next one.

This way you also have no issues with accidently buying a short game with no replay value and crap multiplayer.

Consoles have a standardized set of hardware, something that PCs do not. If you think that isn't something important, go tell it to a programmer at a major game studio, I'm sure they'd love to hear your opinion.

Ummm yup. We have that too [http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-controllers/razer-hydra]

Pretty much nothing. Only thing you cant do on a PC is console exclusives.

Lies. Plug in a controller, hook it up to your TV and you're good to go.

OT: Increasingly little. There's exclusives and cheapness, but as someone who's already invested in a PC, there's no good reason to switch now.

Sure, you can return console games post-purchase... for now.

Sure, there's a heavy emphasis on physical copies and not so much push for console DD... for now.

And, of course, a current consoles cannot be nicely emulated... say it with me... for now.

Next generation is going to be... interesting.

The downside to this, of course, is that the standardized hardware goes out of date right away and stays there.

And with talk of "moduling" or console upgrades to get around this also-rather-important issue, it looks like proper standardization is going to be history as well.

Red Dead Redemption, thatgamecompany.
Money (although that is moot if you already own a PC or don't have a TV).
Even a complete moron can use a console, you need to be able to read and use google to troubleshoot a PC.

Far less technical issues since they use the same hardware, easier to play with friends if not all your friends have good PCs and you can split screen, potentially cheaper (unless you need a decent PC anyway for other things), all around easier to use, console exclusives and able to rent and trade games though they seem to be trying to stamp that out.
I?m mostly a PC gamer.

Easier to use overall. No installs and so on.(Ps3 excluded)

I can sit down on my couch or lay in my bed while playing it? That is a pretty good advantage if you ask me.

It's an all-in-one box that "just works". It acts as a way of compartmentalization, making entertainment a destination seperate from all other things in the world. It materializes the concept of gaming - consoles and games are luxury products that one can go out and buy with the frame of mind that they are purchasing a slice of happiness itself.

It's a matter of perspectve, really. Like, say, most people buy a car to get places. Some people, though, get really into cars and tune up the engine, customize the interior, etc. They're the pc gamers of the car world. They invest a little more of themselves for more return. To the normal person, though, a car is a car. It's something defined purely by its function rather than the sum of its parts (sorta literally, haha).

Neither path is more right than the other - it just depends on what you want out of the journey. Peace.

Ask online what parts to get and state a budget.

When it arrives follow the extremely simple instructions that come with the motherboard.

Boom, you are now part of the "master race".

fyi It's not "part #32115". Nearly every cable and slot is easy to identify and aren't hard to use.
That's part of the problem though, when you do something wrong while attempting to configure a PC from the various bits that make a PC a PC and not a large paper weight you generally have no idea what went wrong if you're not already tech savy as opposed to say, following a guide from a tech manual that you wouldn't have picked up otherwise.

"I don't understand, everything's plugged in right, I've replaced the video card five times, why do I keep getting black bars on the screen? It's not the monitor I know that. Why computer gods whyyyyy?"

I don't know maybe I'm just unlucky with machines, I've never really had a good track record with them, but over the course of three laptops, from three different companies, I've never had a game download and install itself correctly. You'd think that'd be the most failproof action possible for putting game onto pc right? Click a button, wait an hour to download/install, then play game. Maybe occasionally there's some agreement you have to click yes to or a site you need to create an account with but overall it should work from the getgo. But I always get an error message along the lines of "Hey there, a file that was supposed to be in one folder magically jumped to another folder and we won't tell you which one. Have fun!"

This isn't even for mods or other enhancements liable to wreck a game. This happens for the vanilla game files virgin and untouched by myself. I have no clue why it happens to me. It certainly doesn't happen for other people. But either way consoles have not had this problem, so I like consoles. Consoles and me are awrite.

I guess the point of this rambling wall of text is that Murphy's law most definitely applies to computers and especially when the person trying to assemble a delicate piece of machinery is not only technologically illiterate, they're cursed by some malevolent computer deity.
