Tommy Gun. No wait, a Magical Tommy Gun that can shoot different kinds of bullets (Fire, Lightning, Lasers, Explosives, Ice, etc) and will never require reloading.
Also, it would require dressing up as a 1920's gangster in order to function, so my enemies couldn't steal it and use it against me. Unless they also happened to be 1920's gangsters. In which case, they'd probably have their own and wouldn't need to steal mine.

yeah, in fantasy rpgs i have always been a fan of pole weapons (or warhammers). if it is a sci-fi rpg like starwars, it will likely be a lazer sword or bigass power sword/hammer like in warhammer 40k dawn of war.Xaio30 said:A Naginata! For that extra oriental badassery!

in a futuristic rpg, i would pretty much want to be this badass.
Probally some sort of Empathic weapon, a large and long bit of silk, it could work defensively and for mild offensive purposes, it can straiten and harden up to such a fine thiness that it could be used like a sword or as a spherical shield.
Either that or a set of enchanted playing cards. (regular suits or arcana is fine)

Marluxia's scythe, who cares if its pink, its a scythe. It'll practically cut you in half with one clean swipe. Other than that definetely dual energy swords if I was in the future.
My katana with two desert eagles attached. Since katanas are the strongest sword known to man, not only can I stop bullets with it, I can also shoot with it!
I'm practically untouchable like this, but what else can you expect from someone as badass and cool as me. Really!
But when I'm not going the exalted route, I'm usually pretty boring and think that an enchanted mace is cool enough. In the future I suppose a laser sword or similar is good enough.

I'd have my undead/demonic bodyguards fight for me. And if my enemies got past them, I'd hit them with my huge, iron-shod spellbook.
I also loved the lich melee animation from Heroes of Might & Magic V - he'd wave his hand and his sword would come out of its sheath and slash the opponent.
