I was browsing posts today and it has struck me more bluntly than the club of a pissed-off orc.

Why don't people like - or at least tolerate - the existance of fable? I mean, sure there were a couple of bugs, an ok storyline [which i'll admit, i can see a pattern forming in] but to be constantly having a period over the fact molyneux couldn't keep good to his word because he's only a human with an uncontrollable gob really isn't fair.

The games were funny, could be approached by gamers of all skill levels, had high re-play value, stephen fry did voice work in F2 - what's not to like! but if you don't like it. That's cool. But don't ***** about it and then list your favourite games on the internet, please.

There have been hundreds if not thousands of insanely horrible games throughout the life of gaming, and to single out just a few because of a couple of things you-might-not-like-or-are-slightly-miffed-about is just plain silly.
For example, have you ever witnessed a jrpg!? like, what the hell!?!? But i shant dwell on that too long...... ... ...

Basically, unless you have actually MADE a game for the xbox [or been a useful part of a team
that did, runners don't count] then i don't think you're really allowed to criticise people on something they can do a hellalotbetter than you could.

Rant done.

Long story short: Because Yahtzee didn't like it.

Fable was an awesome game, and anyone who says otherwise obviously hasn't played it.

That's my opinion, anyway.

EDIT: Mind you, I never bothered to listen to Molyneux, so I never got disappointed. When I saw Fable 2 being released, I instantly thought that a new version of the game I loved would make a return. Funnily enough, I was corrected. Free-roaming and better balancing was introduced, and I enjoyed the sequel even more than the first.

It was shallow and a bit boring, but still i liked it.

Yatzee is not a critic. Hes a comedian. Too bad most people think differently.

Both Fables, while not delivering on what was promised, were fun, very playable games. What more can you ask for?

That's exactly what I thought.

Great minds think alike.

I find a lot of people on these forums to be like art snobs. Noses turn up at slight flaws, and they're deathly afraid of "mindless fun". Everything must be somebody's magnum opus, with epic storylines, perfect voice acting, blah blah blah. If something is so much as "average", it gets rejected faster than a fat kid from Baywatch.

EDITED:

Ah yes, and there's the Yahtzee drones. "Must... parrot... croshaw..."

...*Reveals super secret Fable Fan club member ship* Are you? (doesn't exist by the way, I would know by now).

And I really don't know, they might just be giant JRPG fans or only have extremely specific tastes in RPG's, other than that there is no real reason to hate Fable, It's like complaining that you ordered a chocolate milkshake and it tastes of chocolate.

And you know why I used that analogy? Because fucking everyone loves chocolate except that dickhead in the background who hates chocolate to be different.

I'll explain why this is wrong. If I was to get an F in math, then say to a person who got an F+ "You suck at math" I would be correct, they might be better than me but, it still must be remembered that they still did quite bad, it doesn't matter that I did worse. It's saying You are better than some, but you still aren't that good.

True, but that's precisely why you should take his reviews with a grain of salt (except for his earliest ones, mind you).

I've avoided any possible hate by avoiding all hype for the games. I loved the first Fable because it was the first rpg I actually liked. Fable 2 was pretty disappointing though because it felt more like the game world shrinked rather than expanded. I really missed Knothole Glade and whatever they called the snowy northern expansion pack place.

i love fable

i would proudly fall to my knee's and become peter molyneux *****.(yes seriously)

i waited for fable 2 and when i got it (for a fan) i was a bit disappointed.and i do agree with what Yahtzee said not because he's right about everything but that he made good points on the game.

Mind if I steal it?

I loved it. An amazing game. It was simply the lack of a final boss that bothers me. Now it was still a good ending, but I was just hoping for a huge dude, like Jack in the first one.

It's just opinion good sir.
I've only played Fable 2, and personally when I purchased it and threw it into my Xbox I expected a lot more than what was received.

I thought the story was terrible; the characters I was absolutely unable to relate to or like. Everyone, essentially, was made from the same male or female character (as far as behavior goes).

Literally all the women asked me to marry them when I already had a wife.
Some of the men wanted to get into my trousers as well due to the fact that if you so choose you can totally be homosexual in Fable 2 (which I thought was one of the game's few saving graces).

Either way, a game that prides itself in being a simulator of the young hero's life did the social part rather poorly and the important part (I suppose), the combat, wasn't as much fun as I would have liked either.

It's not a terrible game, per se, since I know there are worse out there. It's just not my game. Not as much as I would have liked it to be.
