I hate that we have to respect and trust older people just because their age. Not because of their actions.

I also hate when people ask me to do something that they could have done faster, if they took the time to look and or do it themselves.

The strangeness of having people you've never met come up close to you, hug you and possibly (since I'm a girl) kiss you on the cheek when you've been introduced at some kind of formal or family gathering.

It's called personal space. I have a bubble. Why can't we just settle on a handshake? I don't need cheek kissing.

Awesome.. you can start by not expecting women to have sex with you, ever.

Let me have a little guess here..

1) You actually think women should be demure and 'feminine' and partly resent their independence.
2) On a relatively small number of occasions you did something you thought was 'chivalrous' but was actually quite patronizing, or maybe the spirit in which you did it was intended to be patronizing.
3) You got chewed out for it, and decided from this experience that all women wield massive social power which you don't have.
4) You started being outright rude and resentful towards women as a whole and got chewed out for that too.

Guess what, I'm surrounded by 50+ committed feminists every day. I've never been chewed out for my behaviour, not once. You know why that is, because I somehow manage to treat women like complex, individual human beings rather than some collective hive mind of unreasonable demands.

Here's a clue, you're not a knight in shining armour and I sincerely doubt you ever have treated a woman as an equal to an acceptable degree. That's what the problem is, not whether or not you held a door open.
I sense that debating such a topic is unhealthy for ones' reputation.
1- No. Every person has the same standing in my eyes the moment I see them - a stranger.
2-4: It's hard for me to know how a certain person would want to be treated. I used to think that all women should be treated equally, but recent events have shown me that some think themselves high and mighty, surpassing males becaue of their gender and nothing more.
I am not rude to women, I treat them the same way I treat others. The experience has taught me that one should be careful with words around members of other social groups you do not belong to.
Part of that post was sarcastic, the whole stand up to woman tyranny.

1) I hate suits- They are uncomfortable and impractical. I can do work just as fine, if not better, wearing a shirt and some jeans. I shouldn't be judged any more or any less if i wear formal clothes or not.

2)Why is it that the male is expected to ask the female out and make the first move? Can't it be a bit more egalitarian and whomever's feeling braver can ask first? Also, why do guy's have to foot the bill for the first date? Why not go 50/50?

I get more or less the opposite where I live. Bi-sexual, gay, lesbian or trans-gendered people are protected characteristics and thus individuals have every right to express that. So we get a very metropolitan society, maybe you should move here!

Also, being atheist is the only sure fire way to not be made fun of or judged where I live. The minute you say you're Christian (like I am) then you're judged to be a moral dinosaur who rapes children and hates gay people. It's very easy getting into an argument with individuals who do this sort of thing because they're really vicious people when it comes to this and you'll get your head torn off needlessly when you've actually done nothing wrong. After that, it's nigh on impossible for them to change their mind about you, regardless of the amount of love you show them.

Anyway, aside from that. I don't like the societal norm in my country that unless you're going out every weekend getting hammered, you're not 'cool' or whatever. I prefer more responsible things like the cinema, or hanging with friends, or even just a nice pub to chill out in.
I don't think I'd like that much, either. It feels good to have people agree with you, but I just want a place where everyone can discuss their own opinions without fear of being viciously attacked for it.

The idea that everyone must be happy. Now let me clarify that by saying I don't enjoy being misserable either but sometimes I just have an off day or maybe just not feeling anything at all, my "comfortably average" days I call them.

But no those arnt good enough answers, they need detailed reasons of exactly the problems even if there arn't any to begin with! Instead everyone and their mum has to try and disect my life and try to make it better, theres no solution its just "one of those days", stop asking!

Which incidently I really hate the convention of asking people, particularily people you barely know like people you work with but never see and the only connection you have with them is clocking in at the door, "how are you?" because lets face it no one cares, its just a convention, you really want to know how I am I'll tell you but you don't want that, you just want to hear the "good, you?" response everyone expects and we can all get along with our lives so please dont waste my time asking.

And speaking of work place colleagues, the idea that we all have to be closer than family, an exaguration perhaps but still while I think we shouldn't make life hell for one another that doesnt mean we all need to be buddy-buddy to get the job done, the only thing we have in common is the work place, sure ive met some friends through work but others, ugh we don't get along as it is, I'm more than happy to have no contact with them outside work, stop pushing it damn it!

Ok I think I'm done with my ramble

It annoys me how it's okay for people to say how much they hate cats and would kill one rather than own it. If a person were to say this about dogs people would place you as an outcast.
Second man owns cat = gay

Really stupid.

Small talk. I find it hard to believe you're interested in what I do for a living, friend of a friend of a friend, and I'd like to get to know new people but I'm so utterly bored of telling people I'm a student and what course I'm on. Can't we play a game instead? Or dance? Or tell stories? Oh no, because we don't know each other and that would be TOO FORWARD.

Actually, generally people being expected to act mundane. It'd be nice if we could all walk down the street wearing gloves on our ears waving our arms about and muttering to ourselves without having to feel like we must be mad or something. It can feel so liberating.

The fact that getting cancer turns you from "Racist Bigot" to "Saint and Patron of all that is holy" in the public eye.

That's why if I see someone has a multi-sneeze going on, I count it out loud and THEN say a blanket "bless you" or "gesundheit". Usually comment on "the record", which from what I've heard (in person) is nine.

As for what I hate?

"Wait... you two are dating?"
"Yeah, we've been together for like five months. I kissed her in front of you..."
"Yeah, but you aren't, you know, Facebook official."

I've never sneezed more than three times in rapid succession. Nine is kind of scary.

Wearing jeans!

Jeans are boring and..... boring. That's all I've got. But I will never wear jeans as long as I have my strength!
i'm not fond of wearing pants in general and i have to agree jeans are boring, but i also can't deny that as working pants, they are bar none the best.

OT: my personal pet peeve is sexual harassment. particularly the double standard with women in the workplace. They want equality, which im happy to give them but at the same time i can't be lewd around them like i can with the guys or they might slap me with a sexual harassment suit! peer inspired censorship! booooo.

Any "special day" that requires you to give someone something

birthdays, xmas, mother's/father's day, valentines day etc etc etc

I have a better idea, why not just treat the people who are special to you well EVERY day? Occasionally get them gifts because you are thinking of them if you want, or not.

This would put Hallmark out of business but screw them. People should figure out how to express their feelings without buying a damn card.
