What do you think would be adequate compensation?
They could make a commitment to cover the costs of identity theft for anyone who falls victim. Other than that, they can do whatever they want as proactive compensation; they just need to guarantee the first.
And this too.

How about some special stuff to make up for failing to secure the personal info and credit card numbers of your entire goddamn userbase Sony?

Hmm, playing online, or identity theft, one of these is the greater customer sevice blunder. I wonder which it could be?

People complain about everything.. Everybody who knows ANYTHING about Networking and Security knows that nothing can be 100% secure and everything can be hacked if the person knows what he is doing, just ask the US government.

Just be happy Sony took the correct steps when they found out someone hacked their system in shutting down the servers and hiring investigators, which means whoever did hack it won't be able to hack it while they are down. They could have easily left them up so people could keep playing and the hacker most likely could have tried hacking some more. Sony could have also just kept quiet and said nothing.

Everyone who uses PSN for whatever reason was inconvenienced by this. Anyone who has a PSN account needs an incentive, not just players who play DC Online...at least give us some tee- shirts for our avatars lol ...or something.

At least now people can go outside and get some air instead of sitting around playing video games all day.
